Are You a Christian and at School? Here are Some Quick Tips to Remember!

Updated on August 27, 2015

To be a student is not that always easy nowadays. School can be a challenge, a nightmare, a facade, a struggle or nothing significant at all. Nevertheless school is possible to be conquered the right way! Here are 3 easy tips to do so. Let’s go!

TIP no. 1

God is sovereign and if He is our Lord then rest assured that He cares about our studies. If He was willing to die on the cross to save us then how much more will He be willing to be our refuge during our tough and good days in school? So you need to make sure that you have a relationship with Christ Jesus, without believing in Him & trusting Him as your Savior you wouldn’t be able to experience the inexpressible wonder of having a life with God.(John 3:16, Eph 2:8-9) He cares about everything about us and that includes school and all the drama that comes with it. When days are gloomy just trust in Him, when days are full of rejoicing, rejoice in Him! And know that He is Faithful even in the simplest and little things. He is the only hero that we will ever need.

TIP no. 2

Focus on the things you should be focusing to not on the things you want to focus to. Like on your STUDIES of course. Being a student doesn’t mean you have to be popular, be on the football team, or the cheer-leading team. You don’t even have to pressure yourself too much to consistently get straight A’s; although it should be your goal to maintain good grades. But do not beat yourself up just because you got a B or a C. If you do then just brush it off and do better! Just genuinely do your best. Develop your talents and skills, lend your abilities to be a blessing and discover more of your hidden strengths! We don’t go to school to be perfect and show everyone how good we are. We go to school to learn, share, make mistakes and keep growing!

TIP no. 3

Call it cliché or whatever you want but these 3 words can do a lot for you and to others. To be a good example you first need to start with yourself. To be able to do this you will need to stand firm and go against the flow of the raging waters of peer pressure and other things that will just lead you down a wrong path. It is better to be left alone going to the right path than to be joined by many going down the wrong path. Those who can’t say no are the weak ones.

Be courageous enough to say no to bad influences, peer pressures, and wrong choices. Lean on Christ to give you the strength to do it and you will be able to do it. Do your homework, participate in class, respect your teachers and other school authorities. Be kind to everyone in school, be happy even when your classmate got a higher score than yours, beat deadlines, study for exams; these are just few ways to be a good example.

The next thing you know people will start noticing your good difference and sooner or later they will follow your good examples. Sure some will ridicule you and poke fun at you but just let them do it. Forgive them immediately and shining your light! Remember that they just want to take you down with them. Be consistent in being a good example and you might even convince them to join you. Don’t ever underestimate the impact your little light can do in a world of darkness. Be the light in your school, be the one courageous enough to say no to all the wrong things.

What the Bible says

Matthew 5:16

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

1 Peter 2

15 For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people. 16 Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as God’s slaves. 17 Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers, fear God, honor the emperor.

19 For it is commendable if someone bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because they are conscious of God. 20 But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God.

Be an all star student!

These might be just 3 tips but if taken to heart this can make your nightmare in school a beautiful dream come true. Don’t be afraid to stand for what is right, just focus on what you came for, and trust in the Lord’s most holy name. He is faithful.

Learn, be a light amidst the darkness, and go against the flow of wrongs. Give out love, forgive, succeed and don’t forget to have fun! Make beautiful memories and leave an amazing mark!

P.s Don't be too hard on yourself. Form reasonable expectations, perseverance is key.

Really struggling at school? listen to this!

Great counsel! It is so easy these days for students to forget God when they enter that new, demanding college lifestyle. Thanks for presenting this important part of the puzzle.
