The dream that did not come true

Updated on October 29, 2012

It was a test.

The other night I had a very vivid dream. Whenever that happens it is a premonition of an event that always happens two to three days later.

In the dream I was talking with a woman about a financial transaction. She said that she was going to give me a good deal. Then she walked outside and sneered to someone that she intended to make a sucker out of me.

That morning a tex message was received where a woman wanted to make a certain transaction with me and I knew she was trying to make a sucker out of me because has tried it numerous times in the past. I was angry and vowed to not talk with her.

Then The Holy Spirit came to me in a soft voice and reminded me that every morning I say ‘Not my will, but Thy will be done today Lord.’ and asked me ‘Did you ask God whether He wanted you to talk with this woman?’

Ashamed, I made a deal with God ‘Okay God, if I win at solitaire on the computer it will be taken as a sign not to talk with her.’ I lost. ‘Okay Lord, best two out of three?’ each time I lost for five straight games.

In frustration I agreed to abide by Gods decision but was going to do it begrudgingly. Again The Holy Spirit came in a soft whisper ‘Doesn’t God say to do so cheerfully?’ ‘Oh come on God’ I cried out in anguish ‘You know that is asking too much from me. Holy Spirit, it is not possible for me to do this, I need Your power.’

Then a feeling of calm enveloped me.

Do you think this was a lesson from God to ALWAYS ask Him first and to depend upon The Holy Spirit to provide the necessary power to accomplish the task?

The woman never called or showed up. Why do you think the woman never called or showed up?

Prayer: Thank you my beloved for the important lesson to always seek your guidance in all decisions before taking any action. Thank you Holy Spirit for reminding me to call upon Your limitless power and grace before and while facing difficult situations. I give thanks for this treasured gift from You in the name of Him who always walked in Your will, even up to Calvary, Jesus Christ. Amen.

May the sunshine of Jesus’ sweet love bless you today and every day.

I admire your seeking God's will before making decisions. If we all did this, we would avoid many problems and mistakes. I strive to do this as well, it makes life so much more meaningful, and pleases God.

      Good morning cristina.

I have been living in China for eight years.

My calling has changed from being a English teacher to a Christian writer.

      God bless you.

      Good morning cristina.

It has only recently been brought to my attention and now a very keen awareness how much we must ask for Gods direction in even the smallest parts of our lives.

May you be blessed today in your walk with Jesus.

Nice hub. It is a great reminder for us believers to never neglect seeking God first in every step of action we are going to make. And God is always willing to give us His guidance. Thank you for sharing this encouraging testimony. May you be blessed today and always. Best regards.

      Good morning Mackenzie.

I agree. We are a constant work in progress with The Holy Spirit. Sometimes the clay is hard and needs more work. I always pray I do not rely on my own insight or understanding, because I always get it wrong.

Good morning Pamlia. I am glad you enjoyed my little challenge. Perhaps you will like todays which is from the opposite angle.

      Good morning rgmg50.

I am happy it brought a smile to your beautiful face. Recently The Holy Spirit brought to light how many times I say I and me instead of what is Your will.

May the wonderful and sweet love of Jesus fill your hearts with joy and peace as you walk with Him today.

Teacherjoe, wonderful hub, made me chuckle, because saw myself. Is it not just wonderful how God speaks to us in our dreams, how He prepares us, and sometimes warns us?

teacherjoe, isn't it awesome when God whispers. I do believe He was reminding you that your life is not your own .. it was bought with a price. I chuckled at your begrudging willingness to do it God's way.

I have had reminders too of my dependance and need of His wisdom. I made a decision a while back without consulting God .. why .. because I thought it was a good thing and the right thing to do. How silly of me.

God tells us that our ways are not His ways ... I hope I always keep this truth in the forefront of my mind each time I am faced with any decision from here on out because the results of acting out of my own wisdom were not good and I suffered for it. What a way to learn a hard lesson. UGH!

God is faithful to mold us and shape us into His image ... no matter what it takes.

Keep listening to your Fathers whispers teacherjoe ... He knows the way we should go.

      Blessings and thanks!
