The power god gave the human mind a look at success and what it is.

Updated on May 30, 2012

What is success?

How many people have you known who were successful?

You have most likely met many more than you thought .

I am not monetarily over whelmed. We do not have to miss meals, however a vacation in Europe is not in our near future either.

I am not famous or likely to become famous.

I am successful. This is why.

  1. My wife has loved me unconditionally for over 16 years now.
  2. I have the two best children I could ever ask for.
  3. My parents taught me good morals.
  4. I have a good job.
  5. A close relationship with my maker.
  6. Most of all I am happy.

The past

My mother and I were never very close. However I know in my heart she loved all six of her children with all her heart, but the wicked witch that raised her made sure she never knew how to show it.

My father on the other hand was my hero. He was a Marine ,fought in WW2 Married one woman and loved her all his life. Raised six kids and thought us all to respect all woman as well as one another. Worked hard his whole life and died broke. But in my eyes he died a success because he has six kids that will always remember him with love and live with honesty and integrity that he taught us. If I left this world tomorrow I would know that my wife and I have passed those values on to our kids. Now you know a little about my mind set lets move on to the human mind.

The point is all our life's we are inundated with the idea that success is having a lot of money, fame, big houses or expensive cars.

That is a bunch of hog wash! When someone passes on do we hear he or she was a great person because of owning an awesome car or house? I never have, what I hear is the departed person loved their family or always loved and helped others, worked hard things like that.

What matters when we are finished here and move on is how much we loved and were loved

In a nut shell SUCCESS IS BEING HAPPY. Happiness comes from loving and excepting who you are.

Here is one way to view it. Others can take everything you own, even your freedom.

The one thing no one can ever take is who you are.

Only you can destroy that. If you look deep inside you have a set of values and rules that you live by. This is what makes you who you are.

Each time you do something you know is against these values you destroy a little of whom you are. Do this enough and you no longer know who you are. I went through this with my ex 20 years ago but I learned from it.

Bottom line.

  1. You cannot be happy if you do not like your self .
  2. You cannot like your self without knowing who you are.
  3. You cannot be truly successful if you are not happy.

Do not do things against your own values!!

A strange mix?

I believe in God. I speak with god every day.

I also believe in the power of the human mind. You may have heard of books like The Secret or numerous other self help books. Many of these books talk about shaping your own reality with the power of your mind. I think this is valid the human mind has incredible power but it is not that simple.

Two ways of thinking

The human mind is absolutely incredible I think God gave us the ability to shape our reality.

Many say that you say a prayer God hears it decides yes or know and answers . Could be how it works.

My idea. God gave us a mind that can shape our reality. You must have faith that your prayer will be answered or it will not be. What if God created the universe with set rules not just physics but also a complex set of rules beyond what we can comprehend .

Maybe though faith in God the ability to answer our own prayers is turned on in our minds.

So in simple terms because you believe in God and have faith your prayers will be answered god turns on that part of you mind. You say your prayer and your mind works within the set of rules to make it happen.

Just an idea and I wish I was better able to articulate it.

Here is a link to a hub that has much more detail about our minds power

In God's image

I will not pretend to have training in religion . This is what I was taught as a kid. We are made in Gods Image. That being said I would think that it is not literal . It means our souls are made in his image. If that is true it makes sense we would have many of the abilities people have reported and even documented having. Just as my children cannot understand the things I take for granted until they mature .When they say We are Gods children I think that means as a race. That being said it would make sense that we have many abilities not yet understood for the simple fact that as children we are learning from our father.

These are just ideas to think about. I do not consider my self qualified to say they are or are not accurate . As always Thank for reading and I hope it provokes some thought.

What a great perspective! There was a time in my life when I just didn't believe in prayer--it seemed irrational to me. I met someone who said, well, have you tried it? I had to admit I had not. She said "you turn on the lights even though you don't know why they come on, right?" I got her point and have incorporated it into my life in my own way.

Sometimes people just overthink things! Welcome to Hub Pages! I am having fun here, I hope you do too. :)

This is a very good and thoughtful article. It is true that we focus too much on making a lot of money as what it means to be successful. Sadly, this causes everyone to take take take, when we should be focused on giving. I appreciate your thoughtfulness and welcome to Hubpages!
