The Truth Is You Are Valuable
The truth is that you are valuable and what ever else you have heard is irrelevant because God says that you are valuable and you need to be reminded of this wonderful fact.
The Bible tells us that each one of us is valuable to God. In Matthew 6:26 it says ‘Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?’ Jesus indicates here that each of us has great value. There is something so special about each one of us that God was even prepared to die for us. He sent His son, Jesus to pay for us with His life. That is the highest price anyone could pay, which means that we are extremely valuable. When something is so valuable it is often difficult to put a value to it, but God values and appreciates each one of us extremely highly. You are prized and treasured. You are valued, admired, and respected by God.
Worthless? Not true!
Sometimes we think we are worthless. Why is this? It could be because of what people have told us – maybe a teacher, a parent, or a spouse. It could be because of what we have told ourselves or negative things that we have spoken about ourselves like: ‘I’m useless’ or ‘I can never do anything right’. It could also be because of what society says because you are aged, disabled or have been labeled as ‘divorced’, ‘widowed’, ‘bankrupt’, ‘female’, ‘unqualified’ or ‘unemployed’. This may be what society has said BUT they are wrong. God sees us as valuable and precious and He wants to bless and use us.
You are valuable to God
Your value is so high that it is difficult to estimate, but God knows exactly what you are worth. You are NOT worthless. You are NOT valueless in fact, you have GREAT value. Matthew 10:31 says ‘You are more valuable to him than many sparrows’. “MORE VALUABLE TO HIM”. I love that phrase. When something has ‘great’ value its value is so high that a suitable price is hard to estimate. That is why God did His best to pay for us. He sent His only Son to come and died for us.
We give a lot of attention to the things that are valuable to us – so does God - just to a much greater degree. Luke 12:6-7 ‘What is the price of five sparrows? A couple of pennies? Not much more than that. Yet God does not forget a single one of them. 7And He knows the number of hairs on your head! Never fear, you are far more valuable to Him than a whole flock of sparrows’.
God is very interested in the things that are of value to Him. He knows more details about us and our lives than we know about ourselves because He knows the numbers of hairs on our head. We must be a good investment for Him to follow us so closely. We therefore have no need to fear. (Luke 12:7 ‘Never fear, you are far more valuable to Him’) God looks after the birds of the air and we are much more valuable than that so He intends to look after us.
Precious to God
Our lives are precious to God - this is the truth. Never underestimate your value. God won’t! Listen to what He wants to do in Psalm 72:12-14 ‘He will take care of the helpless and poor when they cry to him; for they have no one else to defend them. 13He feels pity for the weak and needy and will rescue them. 14He will save them from oppression and from violence, for their lives are precious to Him’. No matter what your condition and no matter what your state, your life is precious to God. He loves you. Right there where you are sitting, right there where you are working, He wants you to know that you are valuable and precious to HIM.
God is thinking about you. He is not too busy. He does not have all His attention on some other critical issue. He is thinking about you and me. That is how important and how valuable you are to Him. That is why you can bring all your cares to HIM. Psalm 139:17-18 ‘How precious it is, Lord, to realize that you are thinking about me constantly! I can’t even count how many times a day your thoughts turn toward me. And when I waken in the morning, you are still thinking of me!’ When you got up this morning, God was still thinking about you. That is because you are valuable and precious to HIM. Believe it today and entrust your life into the hands of the One who esteems you so valuable that He gave everything for you.
