Over three decades ago I become interested in the Bible, having drank from the heavenly cup once, I have not been tired to drink more

6. Think the Same Way (Have the Same Thought Recycled)

One of the failures of the Sadducees and Pharisees of Jesus day was that their thoughts are being recycled, they do not allow fresh thought into their hearts. They found it extremely hard incorporating into them another thought, though Jesus told them, some of their followers too told them that it is in their strong belief that the man, Jesus, is sent from God and should be followed but they could not come to terms with such words and kept on saying that, if it is Moses, they know him but this man, Jesus, they said they do not know from whence he has come from.

We know that God spake unto Moses: as for this fellow, we know not from whence he is. (Joh 9:29)

The people keep on recycling the same thought, and they keep being in the same position their lives do not change.

However, we see that those whose thought changed also experienced uncommon miracles in their lifetime. Example of such person is the Samaritan woman who discussed with Jesus by the Jacob well. From their discussion we shall discover that, Samaritan people do not mingle with nor discuss with the Jews, but she would not allow this thought to continue in her, she brushed the thought aside, as through that she was able to receive her deliverance and through her deliverance could get to many other Samaritans.

Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, how is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. (Joh 4:9)

The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,

Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?

Then they went out of the city, and came unto him. (Joh 4:28-30)

And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.

So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.

And many more believed because of his own word;

And said unto the woman, now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world. (Joh 4:39-42)

If we could also have a different thought from our initial thoughts, I tell you that our lives would also experience transformations spiritually and physically.

7. Recycling the Same Training

When sportsmen loss a match, they will sit back down to examine the match look at their lapses in the match and make the needful corrections, but in the case they discovered that they have not made mistakes in the match, they will discover that it means that the formulae they have used to approach the match is not good and such formulae could not match those of their opponents thence, they will seek for modification into such formulae, they will look for another formulae that will be able to match their opponents and defeat them. In case they could not get the formulae to defeat their opponent, they will keep digging and searching for means to use to defeat their opponents.

However, in a case that such people think well they can still recycle the losing formulae to combat their enemies, in as much as they continue to recycle such formulae their enemies will continue to defeat them until they retrace their steps and find another formulae.

This was what Joshua did when they were defeated by a very small country, he sit back down to analyze what could have led to such defeat and he was able to discover where the problem lies and gets it corrected before making advancement to confront those enemies again.

But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel.

And the men of Ai smote of them about thirty and six men: for they chased them from before the gate even unto Shebarim, and smote them in the going down: wherefore the hearts of the people melted, and became as water.

And Joshua said, Alas, O Lord GOD, wherefore hast thou at all brought this people over Jordan, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? would to God we had been content, and dwelt on the other side Jordan!

And the LORD said unto Joshua, Get thee up; wherefore liest thou thus upon thy face?

Israel hath sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant which I commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff.

Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: neither will I be with you any more, except ye destroy the accursed from among you. (Jos 7:1, 5, 7, 10-12)

When the anomaly was corrected they were able to defeat their enemies. (Jos 8)

One of the reasons why the soldiers of Israel could not defeat Goliath was that they had the same training as Goliath and it was that training that they were recycling when the philistines ask them to present a general in their army who will confront their general, Goliath. On getting to the drawing board, they noticed that their training could not match the enemies they wanted to confront, in as much as they try that they will maneuver things, yet they found it hard to be maneuvered. Therefore, the has to ask all on the battle field to come with a suggestion as to how to defeat the enemies. In other words, he was asking if peradventure some people among them have had another training different from theirs’ and are confident that the strategy they will use will work to silence the opposition and the enemies. None was forthcoming because every soldier on the battel field has the same training. It was when the person who had another training got to the battel field that they were able to defeat their enemies. (1 Sam. 17)

All the prophets who made outstanding breakthrough in the bible had another training different from other people and prophets, therefore, they were able to do what others could not do. The same with the apostles in the new testament, they had different trainings in their individual exposures and through that were able to succeed.

If we also want to make impact, it is certain that God will take us through a different training from those of our contemporaries before we would make an outstanding impacts in all our endeavors.

In the next article we shall see some other points.
