There Is No Such Thing as a Homosexual (or Transgender) Christian

Dr. David Thiessen is an educator, writer, pastor, and speaker. He has authored several books on a variety of topics including Archaeology

There are many who claim that title

One reason is that they want to feel good about themselves and their lives while they live here on earth. And while there are homosexuals and transgenders who become Christians and have been redeemed by Christ, they are not homosexual Christians or transgender Christians.

The old man becomes new

Paul could not have been any clearer when he said in 2 Cor. 5:17, the following words:

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

If a homosexual or transgender person has truly accepted Christ, then their old identity has passed away, they have been cleansed of the sins of homosexuality and transgender and made new people.

Paul said it again in Romans 6:6:

knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin;

This makes it very clear that a homosexual and transgender person can become Christian. Yet they no longer can identify as a homosexual or a transgender. They are new men and women as God intended them to be.

Why can’t they keep that sinful identity

One answer to that question is that, they are identifying with their old sinful self. They are still saying that they are still that old person and still a slave to sin. But there is another reason why they can’t use that old identity.

If they do, then they are saying that Jesus lied and he did not remove that old person nor did he make them into new creatures. If the homosexual and transgender person continue to use that identification, then they are saying that there was something Jesus could not do when he redeems a person.

How can Jesus or God get the glory when the advertising says that they did not do what they said they would do when one converts? Paul continues his teaching about the old self being taken away in Eph. 4:22, when he says:

that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit

When a homosexual and transgender person receives Christ, he or she is no longer a homosexual or a transgender person. They are new creatures, given a new lease on life and they do not continue to practice those sins any more.

Do homosexuals enter in to heterosexual marriages

This has always been a point that has been given a lot of thought, discussed over and over and suffice it to say, it is an option for them. But it needs to be said, that once a homosexual becomes a Christian, he or she must start to allow Jesus to change them into the person the wants them to be.

At no time should the homosexual be forced into a heterosexual union. Whether they stay single or marry someone of the opposite sex is between them and God. What they cannot do is go back to their sinful lifestyle and enter into a same sex relationship or marriage.

No Christian should be forcing their personal views on the converted homosexual. That is not their duty nor is it their responsibility. They should be helping the homosexual adjust to their new life in Christ and help them seek the truth.

What about transgenders

Despite what some people think, there was no mistake made at birth. There is no fallible fairy waving a magic wand over pregnant women and creating the birth gender. There is also no fallible fairy that will be distracted and give the wrong gender to a baby.

Transgenderism is a deception, it is a mental illness and it needs to be handled carefully by spiritual people who walk with God. There are a lot of issues that have to be sorted out before the transgendered person realizes the mistake they have made.

If by that time, they have mutilated their bodies and the surgeries cannot be undone, then they will have to live with the bad choices they made earlier in their lives. The thing is, that Christ will remove the deception and mental illness and the transgender will have to live as Christ wants without playing dress up or claiming they are still their old selves.

Homosexuality and transgender is sin

There is going to be no beating about the bush here. God did not create either sexual identity and he did not call it good. Both sexual identities are a corruption of what God did at creation.

Just because there may be a few wild animals who opt for an abnormal sexual union doe snot make either sexual identity natural, good or normal. Those few wildlife examples are demonstrating that the corruption that entered the world at Adam’s sin has reached them and led them into unnatural acts.

Some final words

If the homosexual and the transgender do not accept Christ as their savior, if they continue to practice their abnormal preference, then they will not see heaven. God has set his rules and they will not be broken and there will be no exceptions.

God does not want is home to be corrupted nor will it be, The Bible is very clear on this issue. Sin has no part, no home in paradise. It is God’s home and it is god’s rules that count.

The way for the homosexual and the transgender to be Christian and get to heaven is to follow God’s leading and accept Jesus as their Savior. Their sins and old self will be washed away and they will become new people fit for heaven

yes but love doe snot keep people in their sins, does not support what God calls evil and wrong and does not remove justice or discipline from the equation

It takes courage to give an unpopular opinion. I'm sure that you would agree that we should love everyone.
