Thinking Prosperously

Updated on January 31, 2012

The bible says that as a man thinks in his heart so is he. A person is a sum total of their thoughts, so if they have been trained to think they will never amount to anything in life, they won’t , or if they have been conditioned to think they will be successful, they will. This is not some type of magical mind over matter talk, but it is God’s word. Mankind is a free moral agent who has been given the right to make choices by God. In the book of Genesis (the book of beginnings) God told Adam and Eve that they could eat of every tree in the Garden of Eden, but they were not to eat of the tree in the midst of the garden lest they die. He did not force them not to eat of the tree, but gave them a choice.

The choice they made to disobey God began with how they were thinking. So it is today! Nothing just happens without thinking. The alarm clock rings in the morning and the person thinks Time to get up and get ready for work and they do everything they are thinking from taking a shower, brushing teeth, getting dressed, eating breakfast and going out the door. Think for a moment, what if a person decided not to get up and get ready for work, take a shower, brush their teeth, get dressed, eat breakfast and go out the door? They would soon lose their job and maybe some friends along the way because of bad hygiene (smile). But the point of reference in both case scenarios is how the person was thinking.

Proverbs says to keep (guard) your heart with all diligence for out of it flow’s the issues of life. For one to guard their heart is to guard their thought life. If something is thought about long enough it will enter into the heart and be believed. People for the most part act on what they believe in and it is because their heart has been conditioned to do so through their thoughts. One may be asking the question... well how a person is supposed to think? Well we have been admonished not to be conformed to this world but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds according to Romans 12:2.

Reading the bible allows one to begin to think like God thinks. If a person wants to know what God thinks about relationship, they should read passages of scripture on relationship, If one wants to know what God thinks about finance, they should read scriptures concerning finance. The bible has everything in it for life and how to live and enjoy life. Jesus said I have come that you might have life and life more abundantly (John 10:11 KJV).

Practical Points on thinking prosperously

· Man is a free moral agent who is given the right to make choices by God.

· A persons choices are directly related to their thoughts

· A person must guard their heart by keeping wrong thoughts out

· Nothing just happens, a person’s actions are directly related to their thoughts

· Thoughts are related to a person’s belief system so a person will generally do what they believe in.

· Reading the bible helps a person to think like God

You are absolutely right. The keys to success are found in the Bible scriptures. "As a man thinketh, so he is" and "All things are possible if you only believe". Jesus did come to give us an abundant life full of riches in spirit. God bless you.
