The Fall of Man

THE FALL OF MAN -

God creates man (Adam) and He puts him in the garden of Eden - to dress and keep it. From this we see that God has a purpose for His creation. He's not only to dress it, put to keep or protect it.

"And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it
and to keep it." Genesis 2:15

The word for dress in the Hebrew `abad and it means to serve, work, labor, to make oneself as a servant. The word for keep is shamar, which means to guard and keep. We see here that God put Adam and Eve into the garden to work, and to guard it. What were they suppose to guard the garden from?

To better understand the meaning of KEEP, I looked it up in the Strongs Hebrew and Greek Concordance online at www.blueletterbible.com (I recommend it for those studying the Bible), it's number is H8104. Here's some other ways KEEP is used in Proverbs:

My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee. Proverbs 7:1

That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which flattereth with her words. Proverbs 7:5

From these other verses we see that the context it is used is in guarding the words of God to keep oneself from an enemy, as we see in Proverbs 7:5, it's from the strange woman (today we might say prostitute).

"And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him." Genesis 2:15-18

From these verses we see that God gave Adam the rules of the Garden even before the woman is created (Eve). Adam knows he is to protect himself and his wife. He's to dress the garden, and GUARD it! What is he guarding it from? Keep reading to the end and you'll discover what happened!

"And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed." Genesis 2:21-25

From here we see several "first" principles from Genesis, the book of "beginnings". We see that God makes woman from man and He tells us His ordained order for life is that a man was to leave his father and his mother, and he was to cleave unto his wife; and they would become one flesh. That's God's ordained order of creation from Genesis. We also see that they were naked and not ashamed.

CORRUPTION ENTERS THE EARTH!

Adam and Eve were told NOT to eat from one TREE - the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. They failed to heed God's warning - because in doing so their eyes would be opened to see "good and evil". Up to this point they only knew paradise. They only knew health, abundance, peace, love, joy, contentment, and God's presence was with them 24/7. God walked and talked with them.

Then, it happened - both Adam and Eve ate from the TREE and they FELL and in that fall ALL generation after them were NOW UNDER THE CURSE! That is UNTIL someone could come and break the curse - by becoming the CURSE! That was JESUS CHRIST! He is God come in the flesh! He stepped down from His position in Heaven to become a MAN - so that all of mankind could be born-again of His Spirit and be saved from the CURSE of the LAW. So they could have a relationship with God once again - like Adam and Eve in the Garden.

Jesus became the CURSE for us for CURSED is everyone that hangs on the TREE...here is the verse...

Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Galatians 3:13-14.

Everything we receive from the Lord is BY FAITH. So, if you want to receive the gift of eternal life - you must receive Christ and what He did by faith. Faith believes based on what God said in His WORD. Receive Him and His Word today and you can be redeemed from the CURSE and made a NEW CREATION in CHRIST!

Until next time...

The Lord bless and keep you and show you His favor and peace!
