No End and No beginning of God's love
From the beginning of the written word in our Bibles I’ll read from the book of Genesis;
Genesis 1:1 The Beginning
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Now I will read from the very near end, from the book of Revelation
Revelation 22:12-13 (New International Version)
12"Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. 13I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.
Now, who in this room can define the word “Beginning” and then “End”? I wish to give a moment to think about those two words,… have you thought about them? Good. Now take your definitions and your understandings of those two words and throw them away, that’s right get rid of them., because of whom and what I am about to speak of next, they do not apply, at all!
He was here before anything was created, for He is the Creator; and in the end of days the things of this earth, as well as the heavens themselves shall pass away, but His Word shall endure forever.
I think it is safe to say we may not clearly understand all that is being said here, for if we think a moment longer about the content of this statement, which comes from Matthew 24:35 and is reflective of Old testament scripture in Isaiah 51:6 and 55:11, we notice one repetitive fact, the word remains. That word is our covenant, that Word and I am going to capitalize “word” so it reads as in the saying of Jesus Christ name, “The Word” will live on forever.
Yes, Jesus the son of man had a beginning, and yes, He was crucified and placed in a tomb, but after just three days He arose from the grave as is only possible with God. The Word, He lives, He lives in us, He is out there with us now, you can you feel His presence in this room. Can you feel His presence? If we are still and desire for Him to take up residence within our hearts, our minds and our souls, giving over control of what He already knows will happen in our lives, he is lifting our spirits right now. I’ll ask you again can you feel His awesome and divine presence, within you, here and now.
I pray that you have answered yes. Oh LORD how I pray, I pray that even though our understanding is limited LORD, I pray you would receive our lives as a worthy offering and if we have proved worthy unto you LORD, we would dwell in Your house forever and ever LORD. Though even now Father, I know I am still a sinner, yes LORD, even now as a new creation with a new beginning, let me, let us, not squander the remainder of this life on idle thought LORD. LORD help us each to develop the gifts you have given us to use for reaching out to others, in love LORD and not hate, that they would seek true change in their own lives LORD.
There is no beginning and there is no end with You LORD. There is only what was and what shall always be and I believe that to be love, LORD. Love shared through Your Son Jesus LORD. I seek that love earnestly LORD and offer these thoughts as prayer and ask them in Jesus name. Amen.
Time and space, two of perhaps the most sought after issues to try and define and explore, sometimes together as in a continuum. Let me reduce this to thoughts of someone before us, Solomon, as in King Solomon, to him entertaining such thoughts were parallel to a chasing after the wind. His interpretation of the water cycle may fit other cycles as well and so I am going to read it to you. In the book which he penned, Ecclesiastes. I’ll be reading from chapter 1, verses 5-7 and in the seventh verse is the content that describes the water cycle.
5 The sun rises and the sun sets,
and hurries back to where it rises.
6 The wind blows to the south
and turns to the north;
round and round it goes,
ever returning on its course.
7 All streams flow into the sea,
yet the sea is never full.
To the place the streams come from,
there they return again.
So we see here several examples of no beginning and no end, in fact these are cycles or circles if you will, so what does this all mean you might ask? Well according to the teacher, Solomon, it is meaningless, but I disagree. I believe what this shows us is how our own lives can become, once we live in Christ and He in us.
The Bible says in the book of John, John chapter 3, verse 16 and I’m pretty sure we might know this one, it says;
John 3:16 (New International Version)
16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
That means the concept of time, you can’t apply it here, it has no meaning, as it is written here in the Bible we will go to our Father’s house and we shall dwell there forever.
I am going to move away from scripture for a moment, this is in an effort to see how the world might view life on an eternal level or just view life in without terms.
The Holy Spirit @ work
Yin Yang, this is an idea that all in and of this world, both animate and inanimate are trying to achieve balance. Not necessarily good in opposition to evil, more as good co-existing with evil and that is one concept of Taoism, or Daoism only. Now before I am labeled something such as false prophet or anti-Christ let me say that we are all God’s children no matter our culture, color or creed. If you don’t like what I am saying, consider that neither did the Pharisees when Christ exposed them for what they really were and that was a brood of vipers, they were not concerned for the welfare of others, there only concern was in protecting their own selfish interest and positions of authority. I am only speaking of a truth which transcends the bounds of the Bible, yet it is even mentioned in the Bible and I will share that from the book of Romans, chapter 8, verses 26-27;
Romans 8:26-27 (New International Version)
26In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. 27And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will.
In these acts of change, as in sanctification and making ourselves holy so we might one day appear before our LORD God. We should appreciate that even the Spirit of God has appeared in some way to our brothers in China and India, which they might also know of the golden rule, which is to act out of love and not hate. I found that the word “Dao” actually means path or way, as in the days following Christ’ resurrection the first believers were having said to be followers of the “Way”.
Yes there are differences, yet they are not as different as one might at first suspect. I believe if we might listen to each other and have respect for each other, as children of God, even when there are differences of beliefs, we will be doing the LORD’s will and cease becoming the stumbling block that holds us hostage in this world. We will advance together through one message, which is love.
The life eternal as promised to us in John 3:16 is valid and I am staking my claim as an heir, a co-heir through Christ, does this mean I will be resurrected as was Christ, I can not say yes, or can I say no. I can only say that I will live and that time, beginnings and endings will no longer apply in my life, in whatever form I find myself.
Praise be to God, for helping me to find my way and praise be to Him that I might be a help to someone else.
Not on His Watch
I'm trying to recall at what point in my life I became Christ-centered and no longer self-centered and even that is in a constant state of evolution, that will continue until He brings me home.
The road I have traveled has been less than savory to this point and many times i have become loss along the way. Now, I have been pointed in the right direction and generally I have stayed on course, but this course, more specifically my course, is what I will speak of.
I don't know-on the level of expertise as a maker-exactly what it entails to build a watch, but I am not totally ignorant either. The watch I speak of is of the type which uses gearing, springs and jewels.(I'm not sure what the jewels are for)
These watches are carefully and wonderfully made,-sounds familiar huh-and the maker knows how long the average life expectancy should be,-unlike our Maker, He knows exactly when our earthly time is up-accordingly he expects some to last longer than others and with lower maintenance over the course of their lives.
So, how do you see yourself made as some cheap knock-off or as the genuine article, the product of God's meticulous effort?
May I remind you of just how beautiful some of God's other works are? Consider all of the colorful mammals(leopard),birds(macaw parrot),fishes(clownfish) and flowers(orchids) and then there is you, you who the LORD through scripture in the Bible says "Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Luke 12:27(NKJV)
So, we know we are more beautiful than these, we were given dominion over all these by God Himself, yet we still struggle, we still try to wind ourselves instead of letting the LORD set the tension of our spring.
Have you not felt that overly wound tension in your life? I know I have, now however it is becoming less of a struggle as I let Him do the settings more.
Picture yourself in the water...you are not a strong swimmer and you are far from shore-how you got into the water I will leave up to you-you are thrashing about, barely getting your head above the waters surface to gasp for a breath of air, before slipping below again.
Why are you struggling to stay above the water, do we not know how He will keep us from harm? It is time to relax, it is time to surrender to Him, we must let our body and minds go blank for a spell and allow only the thought that He has made us in an image of Himself, in a beauty that truly defies description as compared to the aforementioned creatues. Are you ready to rest, are you ready to stop winding yourself so tightly and allow His will to become your own?
At once, when we surrender ourselves to His lead, we will overcome the struggle and the sinking feelings, we will rise to the top as does a cork that is submerged. We are now floating, we are at peace, yes there will be waves and they will try to capsize us, but we are a resilient creature now, wonderfully made and now, expertly maintained, we will last and we have been warranted against breakage, through Christ Himself.
You are in His care and He will not let your time run out now, because that warranty you could not afford has been purchased for you, through the blood of Jesus, you have a new life with Him and it only becomes more valuable in the next millennia
