Updated on May 21, 2013

When it comes to natural disasters, tornadoes are one of the most destructive forces on earth. With winds that can reach over 300 miles per hour, tornadoes are one of the most dangerous natural occurrences. There has been a recent outbreak of deadly tornadoes in the United States. Some of these tornadoes are more then a mile wide. You can only imagine the winds and complex of such a system.

In order for a tornado to develop, the conditions have to be perfect. There are several ingredients that must be right for tornadoes to form. This same formula can be applied to our tornado dream. Your tornado dream can apply that the perfect storm is brewing in your waking life. Tornado dreams commonly portray negative emotions, situations, and circumstances in our waking life. After time, these emotions take a toll on one's life and it often leads to destructive behavior. Just as a tornado leaves destruction, your tornado dream can represent that you are on the wrong path in your waking life.

Since tornado dreams are closely linked to our emotions, they usually represent a high level of emotional distraught. Tornado dreams are common among women and men that are very emotional. Dream experts suggest that tornado dreams can refer to a destructive relationship in your waking life. It could be a spouse, friend, family, or possibly someone that you barely know. These relationships often lead to destructive behavior that can be dangerous and even life threatening.

Tornado dreams can represent the same characteristics in our waking life. Tornado dreams are actually a common dream that both men and women can have. Tornado dreams commonly represent out of control emotions that can lead to destructive behavior. Tornado dreams suggest that we may be living destructively in our waking life. Due to this, tornado dreams are often interpreted as a warning sign.

There are a variety of different tornado dream scenarios that we can have in our dreams. Each scenario and action can have meaning in our waking life. This is why it is important to try to remember every aspect of your tornado dream. Every scenario, action, and emotion is important to remember so you can do your best to correctly analyze your tornado dream.

Dream experts commonly suggest that tornado dreams symbolize scattered attention. This may suggest that there is a lot of things going on in your waking life. If your attention is spread out, things can slip by. Having your attention concentrated on multiple activities can also be stressful. Your tornado dream may suggest that you have too much going on. Since tornado dreams symbolize negative emotions, this can be taking a toll on you mentally, physically, and emotionally. This constant juggle can be draining on your emotions.

If you were within the tornado in your tornado dream, this can apply that your life may be spinning out of control. You may feel powerless, overworked, or overwhelmed in your waking life. The stress and anxiety from such emotions can cause you to spiral out of control. These all are very serious emotions that can lead to destructive behavior. You need to take a step back and analyze what you are bringing on yourself. You need to reevaluate your predicament and take the proper steps to make things better.

If you were hiding in your tornado dream, this can represent that you are keeping your emotions within and hiding them from the world.Keeping our emotions inside and not talking about them can result in negative behavior. Eventually, you are going to need to share what you are going through. In your tornado dream, you are hiding because you are fearful of what can happen. This same fear can be applied to your waking life. What is causing your fear? What are you scared of?

If you are caught inside a tornado in your tornado dream, this may symbolize that you are struggling with your inner emotions. Since tornado dreams represent negative emotions, more then likely you are feeling anxiety, fear, depression, or pain. This can be brought on by a variety of different things in your waking life. The worst thing that you can do at this point is keep everything bottled up inside. Tell someone that you know well exactly how you feel. If you feel that you have nobody, perhaps talking to a professional can help. If not, what is bringing on your emotions? Take the time to resolve your problems.

If your tornado dream portrays more then one tornado, this can suggest that you may have destructive situations or people around you. Once again, this can refer to a few different scenarios. Someone or something around you can cause bad things to happen, possibly destructive things. Your tornado dream can suggest that there is a friend, loved one, family member, or even a co-worker that may lead you down the wrong path. Pay close attention to your surroundings and make sure that you are making sound decisions. Your tornado dream may be the only warning you have before all hell breaks loose.

Tornado dreams where funnel clouds appear are also viewed as a warning. This tornado dream suggest that there may be future destruction in your waking life. This tornado dream represents an important decision that may need to be met. Once again, your tornado dream is an early warning sign. As you already know, early tornado detection saves lives. Pay close attention in your waking life and expect the unexpected.

Although most tornado dream meanings are negative, there are a few positive interpretations. Some believe that tornado dreams can show inner strength and character to overcome difficult situations brought on by negativity. Tornado dreams may put you directly in the eye of the storm. Although this can suggest that your holding negative emotions, it can also portray that your taking control of your inner emotions and life. Tornado dreams in this manner are a positive sign and high quality trait. This tornado dream symbolizes your self control and ability in turmoil.

As you have read, most tornado dreams are analyzed as a warning sign that we are on the wrong path. More then that, our tornado dreams are a sign of severe negative emotions and destructive behavior. You have also learned that tornado dreams can also represent a strong inner character. If your tornado dream corresponds with negativity and destructive traits in your waking life, it is time to take control of your life. Take the time to cool down and analyze your current situation. Most importantly, your tornado dream represents that major changes our needed. Remember, only you can change your current situation. Things can be done with early detection. However, if you are not aware, the tornado can destroy everything.

      This is a fascinating hub.

I think tornadoes are awesome but very scary and a few years ago I did have a number of dreams where a tornado would feature in my dream. For me it was usually negative and meant that issues might be brewing that I would have to deal with. I usually did and the only time in dreams I get worried is if I dream about dinosaurs or serial killers - very nice I know!! But dinosaurs and serial killers usually mean big trouble ahead, normally within a week or so.

Loved this hub and the interpretations!! Voted up!

This is remarkable! I can remember having a dream about an approaching tornado. My son was a baby and i was wrapping him in a rug, ( Why a rug? ) I was living in Missouri and a tornado had touched down in a little town about 30 miles away and we had gone to view the damage the day before the dream. I am still terribly afraid of storms..Interesting topic Ricky...
