Transformative Thoughts for the New Year

Updated on January 2, 2011

You are a powerful creator

You were created in the image of God. You have Godlike potential. There is nothing that you cannot be, do, or have. However, many naysayers may claim that this is a bunch of nonsense.

“We are limited beings. We do not have much power. What can I do?”

You can do a lot more than you actually believe.

“If you realize how powerful your thoughts are, you would never think a negative thought.” --Peace Pilgrim

And since we tend to minimize our role in the cosmos, we tend to project our minimal thinking onto God. Many individuals think that God resides only in the Heavens. I believe that view is somewhat distorted.

The Kingdom of God is inside you and all around you. There is nowhere that God is not present.

“Don’t think in terms of forms, because forms are limited and God is unlimited.” --C.S. Lewis

We are the dream

We are the artist of our life. How do you want to paint it? Every thought has the potential of taking us to uncharted lands where the sky is not the limit.

“The world we have created is a product of our thinking; it cannot be changed without changing our thinking.” --Albert Einstein

It is extremely important to realize that every step in the direction of our dream is actually taking us closer and closer to that reality.

“So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable.” --Christopher Reeve

“The world you see and the life you lead. They’re a dream—a vision.” --Terry Fatland

Life presents itself when we are ready

We can only see what we imagine is possible. If our eyes are closed to new possibilities, then we truly limit ourselves. Wisdom cannot come to those that think they have all the answers.

“An artist’s duty is rather to stay open-minded and in a state where he can receive information and inspiration. You always have to be ready for that little artistic Epiphany.” --Nick Cave

And when we open our minds to different possibilities, then amazing things come into our lives. We start noticing our life becoming more synchronistic.

“When the student is ready, the master appears.” --Buddhist Proverb

Allow nature to enter your heart

Nature is a wonderful place to reconnect to yourself and God. We often become disconnected in the city, because everybody is in such a hurry to go here and there that they often forget who they really are. Remember: You are spiritual being.

“Man’s heart away from nature becomes hard.” --Standing Bear

Personally, I am drawn to nature for inspiration. There is indescribable wisdom and beauty when I am in her presence.

“Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.” --Albert Einstein

“Wisdom’s in the trees not the glass windows.” --Jack Johnson

Be yourself—don’t be afraid

It takes tremendous courage to truly be you. In fact, many individuals often fall into the trap of conformity. They would rather follow the status quo than follow the wisdom of their own heart.

“If you don’t control your mind, someone else will.” --John Allston

Many forget that they are each unique in their own way. If you follow the crowd, then you are not honoring the real you.

“You don’t get harmony when everybody sings the same note.” --Doug Floyd

Remember: You are a powerful creator. You can be who you want to be.

“You can step on out; you can do without. You don’t have to be like every other.” --Andy Bell

The future lies in your eyes

Your future outcome is dependent on the quality of your present. Your dreams are not going to come true by only hoping and wishing. What is required is action.

“Don’t just stand there and shout it. Do something about it.” --Martin L. Gore

What I have discovered is that once you begin the journey of making your dream a reality. It becomes easier and easier. Then you will say to yourself: “Why was I afraid?”

“Action conquers fear.” --Peter Nivio Zarlenga

It is also important to know that your actions define you. Your actions are going to speak louder than your words.

“Remember, people will judge you by your actions, not your intentions. You may have a heart of gold—but so does a hard-boiled egg.” --Author Unknown

“Do you want to know who you are? Don’t ask. Act! Action will delineate and define you.” --Thomas Jefferson
