Online Bible Verses about Christmas - Luke Chapter 1

Updated on August 3, 2012

“But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”” Luke 1:30-33NIV

Appropriate Christmas verses coming through, no surprise. This set is full of notable people, prophecy and doctrine. First we have Mary, who God chose to carry His Son. She was the vessel through which the fleshly embodiment of God would arrive on the scene. Born of a virgin.

“He would be given the throne of his father David.” Jesus, according to prophecy, would be a descendent of David. And, His kingdom would never end. We thus have Godship assigned to the child.

Quite a story. Comes at the same time of year, and alongside, another story. Kris Kringle, Santa Claus, Rudolph and the rest.

I love both stories, but I believe only one of them.
