In Understanding Al Qur'an II

Updated on July 6, 2017

Al Quran is written by Allah Himself, and had been passed down to Muhammad in few ways, in written words to read and in Gabriel's recited, or sometimes inside Muhammad's dreams, or in daily life suddenly it can came like the sound of ringing bell. The same method (recited) being used to spread itagain; first from Muhammad to His best friends, and then from his best friendsto others. Even at the time the written of surrah already being done, but Arab society at the time really got used to recited knowledge, so they chose to recited than only to read it. That is how Al Qur'an keeps being memorized for allthis time, right until now.

In recited Al Qur'an, Angel Gabriel and Muhammad, SAW, and also Muhammad, SAW and His best friends using Learning and Presentation Methods, where the teacher and student meet face to face to study. There is story in one hadidth told that Muhammad, SAW really worried at the first times, afraid that He will forget and miss recited ayyah, but Allah told Him to not worry because He had been created to do this, and there is no way Hewill forget even only for one word.

Almost all of Muhammad, SAW best friends becomes the memorizer of Al Qur'an. They are Muhammad's troop in spreading AlQur'an. But in few wars, many of them died and one time, after Muhammad, SAW passed away, under leadership of Khalifah Abu Bakar, about 70 memorizer of Qur'an died in Yamamah war. Worried about the preservation of Al Qur'an, UmarBin Khatab decided to gathers all Mushaf. Mushaf is the media made from animal skins, thin rocks or dates leaves where they written surrah. At the time, Al Qur'an still separated into different mushaf, because it changing keep happened in 23 years until few days before Muhammad, SAW passed away. There's unless 48 writer of Mushaf Qur'an stayed at Muhammad's side. At first Abu Bakar refusedthis idea because Muhammad, SAW never ordered this acted to be done, but Umar Bin Khatab managed to finally had Abu Bakar's agreement, and started to build a team with Zaid Bin Tsabit as the leader.

They not just gathered every Mushaf, but only Mushaf which had been written under Muhammad, SAW commanded to be made, to make sure of its authenticity. It is surely hard work, but finally after a year they succeeded to gather all Mushaf and keep it under Abu Bakar protection, andbefore Abu Bakar passed away, he gave it to Umar Bin Khatab, which being passed again after Umar Bin Khatab died, to her daughter protection, Hafsah.

At Ustman Bin Affan period of leadership, Islam spread widely to non Arabic countries. The recited methods started become problems because they have different tongue habit in speaking language. Al Qur'an start being dictated in different sound without realized that different sound will put different meaning on the words. It starts caused fought between the memorizer. Knowing this, Utsman decided to start made copies of all mushaf to spread around the world. Once again Zaid Bin Tsabit became the leader ofthis work together with several scientist of Qur'an. They borrow the Mushaf which under Hafsah guardian to be copied and brought the original back under Hafsah protection. This Mushaf later called as Al Iman Mushaf. Recited problem solved for while.

Another problem showed up at Ali Bin AbuThalib period of leadership. Since that time had been written without reading signs. Once again, it caused problem for non Arabic native speaker who didn't understand Arabic words. To solve this Ali ordered Abu Al-aswaf Al Du'ali to added reading signs to make sure Al Qur'an will always be reading in the way it should be sound, so it will always have the exact meaning. Nashr Ibn Ashim then added more dot to differentiate the letter which had similar forms under suggestion of governor of dynasty Daulah Umayah period, Hajja Ibn YusufAl-Tsayufi, and Al-Khalil Ibn Ahmad Al Faridi added more reading sign to perfected it. These works keep being done at Al Makmun period of leadership. They started to add the numbers of ayyah and also separated the surrah into few group. All the works they had been done all that long had onlyone goal, to make sure Al Qur'an will always be read in the way it should sound, to make sure the meaning will never be change until the end of time.

No true follower of Allah would need to hide anything from anyone.

If your God is the one true God then nothing and noone; especially a man can stand in the way of Gods truth.
