How to Experience Ultimate Freedom
Be the Kind of Woman ...
Freedom Is Not Free
As a Nation, we just celebrated America's independence. The July 4th holiday brings thoughts of victory, independence and freedom. We are so grateful to all the men and women in our military who have fought for our country in places all over the world, so that we may remain free. A lot of them have paid the ultimate price for that freedom, and we honor them for their service to our great Nation. Sadly, too many of our dear military men and women are coming home with tortured, battle-scarred minds and cannot seem to escape the horrors of what they have been through and seen.
Time To Get Real
I am also reminded of a different kind of freedom, one that only God can provide.
“Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” (John 8:36, NKJV)
Are you truly free? Do you know what it really feels like to be totally free? I do now, but there was a time when I was in chains due to the sin in my life, until I came to know my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who paid the highest price for us all, so that we may truly be free.
Before Being Set Free
The following is a sad picture of who I was before Christ set me free:
My mind was never at rest, always worrying about anything and everything, from my job, children, family, what other people may think about me, how I dressed, how I looked physically, and so on and so on.
When I went to bed at night, I never slept, as I would re-run the day over and over in my mind. I would have to take a pill to just go to sleep.
I could not even walk into a room full of people without my knees knocking in fear that they may turn around and look at me. Ridiculous!
If I had to speak in front of a crowd, I would stutter and stammer before finally getting the words out.
I would avoid everybody, just not to have to confront anyone in any situation.
I never said what I was actually thinking for fear of ridicule.
I never believed I was good enough to be around certain people.
In high school, I would hide behind books just to not have to interact with people. Crazy!
After high school, I got married and we moved away from home, and a whole new world opened up for us, the world of going to concerts and partying like there was no tomorrow. Just trying to fit in with the crowd. Scary to think about now and how did we even survive? God's grace!
Living Truly Free Now
Why do we often forge chains for ourselves? Jesus tells us in the gospel, "Everyone who lives in sin is a slave of sin." Maybe we have all experienced some kind of similar self-destructive behavior in our lives. We want to be free from the chains, and Jesus, the Son of God, assures us: "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." John 8:32
Freedom from slavery is never easily obtained. It is a hard journey, for the chains that hold us are strong. However, we are not on this journey alone.
In addition, His Holy Word, the Bible, God tells us:
"Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit." Romans 8:1-4
In His Word, He tells us that we can be transformed by the renewing of our minds. The mind is the main battlefield of Satan, as he plants those false imaginations. After all that time in high school when I felt inadequate or not worthy, I learned later in life from people who I went to high school with, that I was thought of as a beautiful and smart young lady (but that is sure not how I saw myself). That is exactly how the enemy whispers those thoughts of untruths into our minds, and we believe him!!! How sad.
Here is what He tells us:
" Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is —his good, pleasing and perfect will." Romans 12:2
Freedom in Christ
A Warrior for Christ
I am a Soldier - Author Unknown
I thought this is so beautiful and may help those whose minds are not set free. Sharing this poem by an unknown author:
"I am a soldier in the army of my God. The Lord Jesus Christ is
my commanding officer. The Holy Bible is my code of conduct.
Faith, prayer, and the Word are my weapons of warfare. I have
been taught by the Holy Spirit, trained by experience, tried by
adversity, and tested by fire. I am a volunteer in this army,
and I am enlisted for eternity.
I will either retire in this army at the end of time, or die in
it; but I will not get out, sell out, be talked out, or pushed
out. I am faithful, reliable, capable, and dependable. If my
God needs me, I am there. If He needs me to teach a class, to
teach my neighbor, to help someone in need, or just to sit and
learn, He can use me because I am there! I am a soldier. I am
not a baby. I do not need to be pampered, petted, primed up,
pumped up, picked up, or pepped up.
I am a soldier. No one has to call me, remind me, write me,
visit me, entice me, or lure me. I am not a wimp. I am in
place, saluting my King, obeying His orders, praising His name,
and building His kingdom. No one has to send me flowers, gifts,
food, cards, candy, or give me handouts. I do not need to be
cuddled, cradled, cared for, or catered to.
I am committed. I cannot have my feelings hurt bad enough to
turn me around. I cannot be discouraged enough to turn aside. I
cannot lose enough to cause me to quit. When Jesus called me
into this army, I had nothing materially. If I end up with
nothing, I will still come out ahead. I will win spiritually.
My God has supplied my needs, and will continue to supply all
of my needs.
I am more than a conqueror. I will always triumph. I can do all
things through Christ. Devils cannot defeat me. People cannot
disillusion me. Weather cannot weary me. Sickness cannot stop
me. Battles cannot beat me. Money cannot buy me. Governments cannot silence me, and hell cannot handle me, because I’m safe in my Savior.
I am a soldier. Even death cannot destroy me. For when my
commander calls me from this battlefield, He will promote me,
and then allow me to rule with Him. I am a soldier in the army,
and I’m marching, claiming victory. I will not give up. I will
not turn around. I am a soldier, and I am heaven bound, and
here I stand! Will you stand with me as a good soldier of Jesus
He Sets Us Free
My Prayer For You
I pray if there be anyone who does not know the ultimate freedom found in Christ, that He will reveal Himself to you, and you will come to know Him and believe Him. I am not talking about believing in Him, but believing Him - His Word - His Truths, and that is when you will truly be set free to be who you were created to be. I pray that you will begin to see yourself through God's eyes and, oh, what a beautiful sight you are to behold. You can be set free from those chains that bind you. I have faith that you can be free from bondage to freedom in Christ!!!
