Using the "Social Networking Sites" to Transform Our World

Updated on May 8, 2012

You may not be aware of this, but everything you post on a social networking site is having an effect on the world.

A great many are not aware of this, because they only see it as an avenue to converse with friends and family, and nothing more. And don’t get me wrong. There is nothing wrong with that. I only want to suggest that it can be used for something more:

TRANSFORMATION!

Imagine that you are feeling down, so you decide to go on one your favorite social networking sites in hopes of changing your mood. And lo and behold, there is a post that lifts you out of your gloom. It made you smile. It made your heart sing.

I have been noticing a lot of this on facebook lately. Positive and inspirational posts are coming from all sorts of people. When I noticed a message that touched my heart, I would re-post them so others could experience these wonderful messages as well. Then, if that wasn’t enough, I would see others sharing my messages.

If I was an outsider looking at this, it would look like crisscrossing waves of positive energy flowing from one person to another.

It is such a wonderful feeling to know that your post made a positive difference in someone’s life. It doesn’t matter how simple or complex the message is.

What matters is the intent!

Is it coming from the heart? Is it written with love? Does the message empower and inspire?

I am seeing a decrease in negative posts. People are tired of hearing the drama. It doesn’t really get you anywhere. However, a post that makes you smile and makes you feel better is incomparable. It creates a win-win situation for both parties. Everyone benefits from the act of kindness, even those that are just observing the kind gesture.

Those that get their kicks by writing unkind and hurtful comments are only hurting themselves. They gain nothing but negative karma. What they create will come back to haunt them later. We live in a Universe in which the Law of Cause and Effect is inescapable. What you do to others will be done on you. That is why it is so important to do good in the world. Treating others the way you wish to be treated is what it is all about. Harming others creates a lose-lose situation. It is a waste of time and energy.

Our Posts and Comments Matter

For those that are interested in making the world a better place be aware of what you write, as this will have an effect on the world. If you want to see more love in the world, be more loving. Tell your friends and family you love them. Send them loving messages. For those that want to see more kindness in the world be kind to others. It is really that simple.

Doesn’t it feel wonderful to be appreciated and loved by others?

Personally, I wouldn’t enjoy a hateful or hurtful message that was sent to me, as this wouldn’t make me feel good. I have seen this in the past on different websites. These people think they are funny when they put others down, but as I said earlier, where do these unkind comments get them? Absolutely nowhere.

We may not be aware of this fact:
Our comments and posts are a form of communication between the writer and the reader. There is also an exchange of energy that is going on. The person that is sending a negative message is also sending negative energy. That is why a positive message is often uplifting, while a negative message makes us feel heavy. Negative people are draining, while positive people lift us up.

With this said, I want to make you aware that every place in which you can share a comment is your opportunity to make a difference in the world. It doesn’t matter if it is considered a social networking site or not. If there is a place on the website to leave comments or e-mail, then that is your chance to say something positive, and even if these two things are not available, your thoughts and intentions are multi-dimensional; they penetrate through time and space, traveling to the desired destination.

Special Thanks

I greatly appreciate all the wonderful things you do in making the world a better place. I greatly appreciate your inspirational words. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

You are welcome, Terry! I just joined your inspiring page! A tip, if you want your page to grow so your messages can reach many, best to use images with the quotes, preferably your own images so when it's shared users and friends of users will see the link back to your page. I share other's quotes too but also have my own. Nice connecting with you in FB! :)

Hi Terry, I shared your hub in my page "Love Is The Answer." https://www.facebook.com/pages/Love-Is-The-Answer/... I am doing just that, created a space where I share uplifting and paradigm shifting quotes from thinkers all over the world. I find that using Facebook in a positive way is using my energy in a way that honors my self and others. My eyes were a little wet the other night, when I looked at the statistics, and there are fans from every free country in the world, and all looking for the same: inspiration. I have met wonderful people through this medium.

Voted up and awesome! :) ~ Marie

Hi Linda. Thanks for commenting. I would also like to see more original postings, however, what is important to understand is the intent of the posting, whether it is original or not. If the person is touched by the post, there is a strong chance they want to share it with others, just like you would share your favorite song with another, even though you didn't personally write the song.

You share the post or song because it touches your heart, and you want others to experience it as well.

I do like the positive comments on Facebook, lately. However, I am sadden that so many people copy and paste what someone else has copied and pasted. Where are the original posting?Do people even know how to think on their own any more?

Thank you so much Fennelseed for the kind words. That is wonderful that you have also noticed the increase of positive energy on facebook. I've been noticing it so much lately that it inspired me to write this post. We human beings are so powerful yet we don't realize that. But to those who do, they are transforming our world right before our eyes.

I learned from Gregg Braden that it only takes the square root of one percent of the population to bring about change in the world. For example, in my city there are 300,000 people. The minimum number people needed to bring about positive change would be 55 people. Of course the more people the stronger the effect.

Now check this out: In a world population of 7 billion people, it would take 8,367 people to bring about change. Now, if millions upon millions of people focus on positivity, there is no stopping the positive effects that it will have on the world. I see this happening right now!

Fennelseed, you are more than welcome to share this on facebook and with others. I write because I want to share my thoughts and insights with others.

Again, I greatly appreciate your kind words. And thank you, Fennelseed, for spreading the positive energy. Every kind thought, word, and deed is definitely making the world a better place. :)

I have noticed this increase in positive energy on facebook, but I have not until reading your insightful words here, considered the overall impact of these beautiful messages and sentiments worldwide. Like you, they certainly cheer my day and make me smile also so when you multiply that by the millions+ on facebook, that is a very powerful influence and has the capacity to reverse the negativity that exists there.

This is a mind blowing thought, but so possible and I will now be doing my best to spread the positive energy far and wide.

Thank you Terry, this is excellent writing, with a world changing message. My votes and sharing, including to facebook if that’s okay ;)
