Victorious Inspite of Chains

Victorious Inspite of Chains

"And I want you to know dear friends, that everything that has happened to me here has helped to spread the Good News. For everyone here, including all the soldiers in the palace guard , knows that I am in chains because of Christ. And because of the imprisonment, many of the christians here have gained confidence and become more bold in telling others about Christ. "

Php. Ch 1 :12 - 14

The beloved Apostle Paul was imprisoned due to the preaching of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. But he was thankful instead of being resentful. He never questioned GOD nor rebel against him. Paul is a christian of good standing. He is walking blamelessly, he lived according to God's laws and commands and on top of this he is faithfully serving Christ, he even risked his life for the sake of the Gospel. You may say he has every reason to question God for his persecution.

What is a picture of a prison or jail? It is a place that is very dark, very dirty, stenchy with foul odor with many rats, insects and worms. It is a very abominable place, and apostle Paul is there not because he murdered or killed somebody nor steal any thing. But he is there for a very good cause, because of his very great love for the lost and sinners. But Apostle Paul never questioned GOD for his trials and crisis, instead he rejoiced and praise GOD. He considers it as part of God's will and purpose for his life. He wholeheartedly welcomed the trial. Great things happened due to the imprisonment of Paul. He gained opportunity to minister the Gospel and reached out for fellow prisoners and even prison guards and soldiers. His imprisonment also served as encouragement to many christian brothers to remain firm and bold and faithful in preaching the Gospel of the Lord JesusChrist. So Paul remained victorious inspite of chains. Surely whatever the devil meant for evil the Lord will always turn it out for good.

In Christ,

Cristina

You might be interested to know that it was when Apostle Paul was in prison that the ascended Lord gave him the revelation concerning the salvation of the Gentiles independent of the Jews. This is found in what is called "the Prison Epistles", namely, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians and 2 Timothy.

Paul was an awesome example of a disciple of Christ. He suffered greatly as persecution raged about him. He was dedicated to the word, and he knew that if he endured to the end, he would have his reward. He had turned himself over to Christ, to be of one heart and one mind with Him. In doing so, he had faith and understanding that all things would work for his good. Thank you for reminding us of that.
