Waiting On God

Waiting Takes Patients

Waiting on God takes patients, commitment, discipline, faith and obedience. During the period of waiting God prepares us to receive His promise and the way He prepares us is by testing us, please know that the test is really for us because He already know the outcome, He knows the end from the beginning in everything. God test us to make sure we will obey and trust Him and that we will know who God is,waiting serves specific purposes such as to humble us, prove our character, showing what is really in our hearts and to see if you will keep His commandments.

In order for the promise to manifest you have to wait on God there are no short cuts in this. God has to know that He can trust you so He test that trust and through it all He brings you into an understanding of who He is. While waiting on God develop an attitude of thanksgiving, praise, and worship this will bring you into a closer relationship with God and make the process of waiting manageable.

In Genesis 18:10 God tested Abraham trust in Him for many years before he received the promise, the promise was he and his wife would have a child and they didn't have that child until they were beyond child bearing age. In Genesis 22:2 God tested Abraham obedience with that same son Isaac when God told Abraham to sacrifice his son to Him, although he didn't understand God reasoning or purpose and he was in enormous pain about what he was about to do he stood strong and faithful and Abraham obeyed God. God proved Abraham and because of his obedience to God (Genesis 18:18-19) his reward was that God made him the father of many nations and all the nations of the earth was to be blessed through him, God said "I know him that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord."

There is nothing too hard for God to do, He takes care of the big and impossible situations and all He ask us to do while He takes care of our problems is to wait on Him but for us today waiting is one of the hardest things if not the hardest thing for us to do. Waiting seems like a small request in comparison to what He has to do but it is one of the biggest thing to us because we are impatient creatures and waiting is very difficult to do, especially when it's taking a long time as our perception of time goes or what you are being ask to do while you wait seems unreasonable and unfair.

God tells us in His word (1Peter 3:8) with the Lord "a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years is like a day" I came to understand the old saying that "it seems like it is taking a thousand years for this or that to be done" but in actuality it is indeed one day if you look at it from God's view point. God's timing is not man's timing and He is always right on time, it might not look like it is but as you go through and come out victoriously you will see that it was indeed the right timing because in Romans 8:28 God said "all things work together for good to them that love God and to them that are called according to His purpose."

Waiting on God is a must in serving Him, its all about submission and being yielded. there is always a lesson to be learned during this process, whether it be that He is teaching us how to be patient, how to listen to Him and be still, or how to trust him. In any case He is building our character as a child of God and this is where the molding process begins to take place, God is the potter and we are the clay as seen in His word Isaiah 64:8 & Romans 9:20-21. When we are being molded we are being refined, bringing into perfection. This process is hard because it usually takes a long time and we have to face ourselves as seen through God's eyes , it's usually long because of our stubbornness to comply to God's will.

We are used to immediate gratification and if the answer is not immediate we get frustrated, impatient and angry then we proceed to take matters in our own hands, away from God. With free will and all He will allow you to do your foolish act, when we do this we always fail because every thing begins to go haywire and things begins to spiral out of control and we can't seem to get back on track until we get back to God. Eventually down the line you will end up back on the potters wheel because the consequence of disobedience is trials and tribulations, this is what work patients in us.

It is when we reach the place of brokenness and recognize Him as the most Sovereign God, the supreme God who has the ultimate control, wisdom and authority we will turn back to God. At this point the only thing we can do is to fall to our knees or on our face before God and confess our sin of disobedience and repent by being sorrowful and asking the Lord to please forgive us. Acknowledging that you need Him and you cannot do this on your own, He his just to forgive; He said "a broken and a contrite heart He will not despise" and He will work it all out for you in His timing, you still have to wait on Him, unfortunately this time will take longer because you diverted off His path.

God will always fight our battle for us, He clothe us in His armor and He protects us under His wings. He's a shield for us on the battle field so when we walk out on the battle field He walk ahead of us and shield us, God always tell us to fear not for He is with us and He will never leave us nor forsake us yet we do fear, why? because we want to be in control, we think we can do a better job than God, is that crazy or what.

I came to realize for me when fear sets in is that I am out of God's will and I am now leaning on my natural ability with my limited understanding and that tends to disturb my peace; this peace is the peace of God that surpasses all understanding, it is the peace that anchors me in time of trouble or chaos and when my peace is disturb I begin to react in certain familiar ways, I become overly anxious and my mind is on warp speed, this is how I know doubt and fear has infiltrated my mind. Recognizing what is going on is the key to counteracting it and you do this with the word of God and constant praying, this allows you to stay focus on God and what He is saying or showing you which is the way of escape. Remember Satan is a master manipulator and the father of all lies and he will make you see things differently than what it really is, so be alert to his tactics and hold on to God's unchanging hands, God never changes; He is the same yesterday, today and forever, and He will do what He say He will do so rest in that and His peace and you will get through any given situation.

To do what God ask us to do we have to trust Him totally and completely and that is very hard for us to do especially when we do not know what is going to happen (fear of the unknown). Faith and doubt cannot co-exit because Faith is of God and Doubt/fear is of Satan, faith has to be first present in order for us to believe in God and take Him at His word, that is why God told us that He gave each of us a measure of faith to start out with and it is up to each one of us to exercise and develop our faith, you can only go as far as you allow your faith to take you because God can't go beyond your level of faith for you will not be able to accept whats being offered. Without faith it is impossible to serve God, to come to Him you have to first believe that He is God and that He is a re-warder of them that diligently seek Him. Your faith will increase as your relationship with God grows and your relationship will grow as you read, digest, abide and live His Holy word, promises, declarations and principles, it is to your benefit to learn to wait on God.
