Was CHRIST Divine In Nature Or Just A Prophet?

Updated on January 1, 2012

It never ceases to amaze me the things people think of. I was completely dumb founded to read in a forum conversation, one woman saying she did not believe in heaven or hell, yet she would always be a Christian. She added that His teachings were inspiring and awesome even without all that supernatural stuff. I simply could not understand how someone can claim to follow HIS teachings yet deny HIS words. When i brought it up, stating that her words were a perfect example of how people twist scripture to make themselves feel more comfortable, thus creating their own image of the god they choose to worship rather than the real GOD, I was told that Christ was nothing more than a prophet and had no more authority than that in teaching the word of GOD.

I guess the Word of GOD is just to hard for some people to comprehend, so they take out the parts that are beyond their abilities to understand, keeping only the parts that inspire them and encourage them. I hate to pop their comfortable little bubbles, but CHRIST was far more than a prophet. CHRIST was with GOD from the very beginning...All things were made by HIM and nothing was made without HIM.

John 1:2-4

King James Version (KJV)

2The same was in the beginning with God.

3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

CHRIST was in the furnace with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. HE was before Abraham going to destroy the city of Sodom. CHRIST was not able to perform such miracles as healing the sick and raising the dead because he was some kind of magician...it was because HE was pure...because HE was one with GOD. The thing HE dreaded about HIS crucifiction was not the pain or the humiliation or even the death...all those things can be endured. The thing HE dreaded was the time HE would spend separated from GOD for the first time...ever.

For someone who has never experienced a relationship with GOD, that doesn't mean much. But I can tell you that such a loss to me, who has only known this relationship for 40 some years, would be devastating...I have never been a suicidal person, but such a loss would cause me to wish for death. For CHRIST, who had been with GOD from the beginning, though we cannot comprehend that beginning, I can only imagine what that loss meant to HIM...That is why HE cried out "Father, Father, Why have you forsaken me?" in the moment of separation.

Those who try to take the divine part of CHRIST away from HIM, totally miss who HE was as well as what HE was...and even what HIS message was all about. I can't understand how they can even call themselves Christians...a CHRISTian was one who believed as CHRIST did and lived by the examples CHRIST set.

I call them false christs. They are not anything like CHRIST. call me a heretic or a fanatic. I know truth and i know what is not truth. I will not stand quietly by and have new believers listen to a false christ and not understand they are deceivers.

2 Peter 2

King James Version (KJV)

2 Peter 2

1But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

2And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.

1 John 4:1-3

King James Version (KJV)

1 John 4

1Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

2Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

3And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

    @tlmcgaa70, powerfully said. Thank you!

    It amazes me, too, to see people ignore the divine part of the messenger from God. They miss the biggest point of the who thing: the purpose of these Homo sapiens bodies, the purpose of civilization and of religion.

    We each have a child of God within. To deny the divinity of Jesus is to deny the divinity within which needs to wake up. How can they ever awaken if they pretend they do not exist?

    Someone had marked this Hub as "funny." It saddens me that some people simply do not get it -- like the ostrich, burying their head in the sand. These are our brothers and sisters who are denying the Father and the Son (their compassionate brother).

    hello Lone77star...God tells us not to be amazed at such things, but sometimes I am hard pressed not to be. I have to keep reminding myself that once a person has rejected GOD and HIS truth, He rejects them and blinds them, and no amount of talking on anyones part will convince them what they believe is wrong. the truth of my words is in the fact that if they were not blinded, they would be open to receiving the truth of GODs Word.

    Amen! I read a similar article, or maybe the same one. It's sad that so many miss the mark--the mark of the nail-scarred hands!

    hello lifegate, so true. i was just reading, again, in first john...1 John 2:22-25;

    Who is a liar but he that denieth that JESUS is the CHRIST? He is antichrist that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: [but] he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye shall continue in the Son, and in the Father. And this is the promise that HE has promised us, even eternal life.

    and did you ever catch that John referred to GOD and Jesus as being one? in the same book, chapter 2 verse one....My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the FATHER, JESUS CHRIST, THE RIGHTEOUS.

    he didnt say with the Father AND JESUS CHRIST the righteous.

    thank you for coming by and have a blessed day.
