Exploring the Inner Worlds
Mike's Common Sense
Many people are interested in having an out of body experience (OBE), and traveling and exploring the inner worlds. Learning to do OBE will teach you that you are soul, an eternal spiritual being, and not just a physical body. Learning that you are soul will give you freedom; freedom from fear, especially the fear of death, and freedom from the chains of the mind.
There are literally hundreds of different ways to have an OBE, and they all have one thing in common. One must learn how to free himself from these mind chains. This is done through bypassing the ego.
The ego is what each person thinks is their "real" self. The ego is developed between the ages of two and four years. The lack of an ego is responsible for infant amnesia. This is why few people can remember their days of being an infant or toddler. The development of an ego is essential for a person to function as an individual in this world.
The ego is the one that judges, and makes decisions. It is the ego that is afraid of death, and is the source of your survival instincts. The ego is often referred to as, "the little self". It is called the little self because, even though it seems to be the essence of one's being, it is only a tool under the direction of Spirit.
Spirit is the true self! In order for self realization to happen, the ego has to be pliant enough to bend to the will of Spirit.
The one major characteristic of the ego is the internal dialogue. The internal dialogue is that continuous stream of thought that runs through your brain throughout your waking hours. In order to become aware of one's self as Spirit, or Soul, one must learn how to stop the internal dialogue.
There are many ways to halt the internal dialogue, but most are very difficult. The two easiest ways to get beyond the ego, are dreaming, and contemplation. We will discuss them next.
