What Do You Want Us To Do?
Updated on January 31, 2013
On Earth
Evil walks freely
In Heaven
Blessings are given equally
Man can only pray for retribution
Because you say, “Vengeance is mine”
And yet evil willingly takes its own life
So we ask, “Did he repent in time?”
How can a man walking outside the fence be saved
While we starve and shiver?
We become evil in our desire to avenge ourselves
This is why we need a deliverer
He walks in a uniform
He carries a weapon
He has no soul
He pretends to know heaven
The power of evil is the power to be evil
Though no poor man can destroy a society
One man can destroy a dream
And one child can be taken from their destiny
We ask you Lord
What are we to do?
Did the lamb provide answers for all?
Or did he only come for the few?
Evil has no reflection
There is nothing he can see of himself
For no man who chooses to curse others
Understands the cross on the shelf
There is no message he hears
For the din of his hate is deafening
Why did you send him to us Lord?
Is it a test or a warning?
Please tell us how they suffered
We cannot live otherwise
If we cannot deliver the punishment
Then we live with the whys
It is not possible for us to forgive
For the ways of heaven are for you only
You ask us to love our neighbor
But we are unable to be holy
You say to pray that your will be done
But is it your will for us or you will for all of creation?
For our will is to punish evil and watch them suffer
Yet you ask us to forgive all people and all nations
I cannot cry through tears of joy for there are none
I cannot smile through the pain in memory of the one
The carpet in the closet is frayed and my pants are torn
And my mind is a womb because I am unable to be reborn
