Things We Called Fun Until We Met Jesus

Updated on May 17, 2013

Things We Called Fun Until We Met Jesus

Many have been to parties that we called fun,

You know those parties of the worldly kind.

And if at times they seemed to get out of hand,

I guess back then that we really did not mind.

Our thoughts were earthly and pleasure ungodly,

No thought of the hereafter , no looking ahead.

Our wants and desires were on a different level.

We dared not think someday we would be dead.

But our Lord made it known unto us somehow

He was waiting with His Tender Love and Care.

We may never know who cared enough for us

But we know someone took us to Him in prayer.

Now all of those things that we used to call fun

And all of those desires are gone from our heart ,

So that used to be life and this present time

With Jesus Presence now, they're a world apart!

Would we ever go back to that long ago time?

In our mind would we go back? Not for a minute.

To that Godless life and Satan just lingering

To take us to his home with No Jesus there in it .

There are others playing where we used to be,

And we must try to claim them all for The Lord.

How many can go back with your mind's eye

And remember how it felt to hear God's Word?

Come go with me and you won't have to go far

There are loved ones falling down every day.

Some may be yours and some may be mine,

Now it is time to hand them to God as we pray!

As you can see I have 2 dates o n here, I

started to write in 98 and never finished it,

I have quite a few that I never finished and

never got back to them . My husband was

sick for 10 years and I had to put some

things on hold . He has gone to be with

Jesus now so I will try to get caught up if

God gives me the time now.I will do my

best with them anyway.

Clara, I can identify with "someone took us to Him in prayer." Thank God for those people who plead our causes when we are being careless. Now, we have to remember to pray for someone else.

Hello North Wind, Sometimes it is not good to look back on our younger days and some of the things that we have done. But in some ways it is good to look back every now and then and remember where Jesus brought us from and just to thank Him that He was there to pick us up and set us on our feet . No one but Jesus could do all that He has done in our lives and we should thank Him every day of our lives ,love,Clara

Hello Blossom, I was not into drinking , smoking and so many other things But there was still many things that was unpleasing to God , but at the time I guess we never gave much thought to it . I was not raised in a Christian home and I suppose I never thought of what Jesus would like or would not. My mother and father were both saved in later years, thank God for that. Our childhood would have been a lot different if we had been raised with Jesus i n our home , but we were saved in spite of not knowing Him when we were young, It is never too late to go to the Lord and ask forgiveness of our sins.We can all be thankful for that. Love, Clara

      Hi Clara,

Many times I look back at what I used to like and tolerate and I can't believe that there was ever a time like that that existed. The old things really do pass away and our world view changes when Christ becomes our King. Such a wonderful truth that we begin to hate sin as much as He does!

An interesting poem and a good reminder.
