There is something Wrong with the Church Building

Updated on September 30, 2015

Many have strayed from the truth of God’s Word because they have joined a religious movement called “church” that makes them believe that they are in obedience to God, when in fact they are in opposition to His ways. This message will seem to be radical and even heretical to some, but the message is clear in God’s Word to stay clear from the allure of man's traditions. The masses have become accustomed to a particular template that detracts from Biblical faith that makes man the throne of adoration. Our sinful nature desires want to follow after something our eyes can see. We want men to be prophets, priests and kings as God’s representatives for us. What happens is that the focus shifts from the Creator to the created where Jesus Christ is replaced with mere mortals at the helm. People desire for someone to lead them that they can tangibly grasp, relate to and feel comfortable within a denominational “church” environment.

Scripture states explicitly that God does not dwell in buildings built with man’s hands, but the ekklesia are living stones (saints). The reason God does not dwell in buildings is because it conforms to man’s dependence upon professional titled mediators called Apostles, Bishop, Prophet, Pastor, etc… instead of Him. We are to depend solely upon the blood of Jesus Christ for the cleansing of sin, the written Word and the direction of the Holy Spirit.

Many feel guilty if they do not attend a certain “church” building. The fact is that most will question your faith if you do not partake in their canned religious activities. They want to see your outward displays of “righteousness;" therefore, you will not be deemed on track with God without conforming to the denominational mold.

There is a shocking truth to be discovered in the pages of Scripture that exposes all the sincere religious efforts that are steeped in tradition. It is a trade-off of truth with compromise that is foreign to New Testament teaching.

The 501(c) (3) Church

The Mystery of Lawlessness

The predictability of the staged “church” service is the secret working of iniquity.

For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. Only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way. – 2 Thessalonians 2:7

Paul warned believers not to follow after another "gospel," or worship another "Jesus" that was contrary to what he taught. The doctrines of demons are very persuasive; therefore, there is a constant threat of falling for the counterfeit.

If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that accords with godliness, he is puffed up with conceit and understands nothing. – 1 Timothy 3:6

The modern “church” has claimed 501(c) (3) tax exempt status. They have become a Judas "church" that is not led by the Holy Spirit, but a spiritual whore of the government that takes hush money.

No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money. - Matthew 6:24

They sell their merchandise at different prices called, “gift," or “love offering” for profit.

Satan's Table

The “church” building is not the Lord’s Table because they emphasize special seating arrangements for those in positions of authority.

And Jesus called them to him and said to them, “You know that those who are considered rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. But it shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. – Mark 10:42

The prophets prophesy falsely,
and the priests rule at their direction;
my people love to have it so,
but what will you do when the end comes? – Jeremiah 5:31

It’s time to wake up people! You are not sitting at the Lord’s Table, but partaking of Satan’s. You are not dining with Jesus Christ when your seat of placement is based on what type of dining rewards card you have.

We need this etched into our heads,

We do not have any right to request a special seating arrangement at the Lord’s Table. The fact is, Jesus said that the greatest in the Kingdom of God would be the servants. The table of Satan has men fighting for special seating positions based on entitlements, but Jesus said that the greatest in His Kingdom was would that of a servant. The modern “church” is full of people consumed with positions of authority and greatness based on man’s recognition.

On Satan’s table, man is the one who prepares the food. On the Lord’s Table, Jesus Christ is the one who has prepared the food, but we are the ones who are to serve it. Can you see the clear distinction? We are not to tamper with what has already been prepared by our Lord. We are not to knead our man-made traditions (leaven) into it, change the menu items, or try to sell it for a price. Jesus Christ has already paid the price.

Those who sit at Satan’s Table believe in another "Jesus" who is fashioned into the image of man. The desire for positions among men is not humility, but conformity to the hierarchical structure of the world.

Our modern minds want to borrow from the ideologies and philosophies from a materialistic point of reference. The traditional “worship,” habits, thoughts, motives and behaviors of organized religion all stem from them. God is not concerned with the pettiness of glossy outward behaviors, but the motive of our hearts. Truth is not about feeling comfortable in a template of religious behaviors. Truth is about being set free from them to be the person Jesus Christ has called ALL of us to be. So many are striving for a special seat at Satan’s Table believing that it is the Lord’s.

Dead Works

Jesus Christ is not synonymous with big buildings with elaborate ritualistic programs within them. He is to be the center of everything with the goal of knowing His will and obeying it. Anything that deviates from this will lead to spiritual death.

  • Why do you continue to accept the traditions of man?
  • Why do you partake in their ceremonies and rituals?

This is not sincere faith. Being “plugged in” is an illusion. Submitting to man is deception. Jesus Christ is our only true Shepherd. Religious ceremonies with self-proclaimed teachers directing them are dead “worship” practices. Nothing that you, or they do will bring you justification. No canned prayer, or attending special weekly meetings will purify you. It is only done through the miracle of Jesus Christ.

The mess of organized religion is bondage. It is time to learn from Jesus Christ Himself, instead of being fed from the hands of men who are hungry for personal gain. They will use you instead of desiring the best for you.

I see men desperately trying to repair the tattered foundations that they have built upon sand. They cannot see that God has sent the storm to test their foundation, and it has not withstood the furor. While their foundation is falling apart, they are desperately working against God to repair their corruption instead of repenting for it.

Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God – Hebrews 6:1

We are saved by our faith that results in good works, not dead works to attain salvation. Many refuse to enter into God’s rest into the completion of what Jesus Christ has already done.

  • Why do you continue in your persistence when, “it is finished?”

“Church” programs necessitate that God needs us, rather than the other way around. The “tower of Babel” on every other street corner are the products of iniquity. Vain works of man are failed efforts to attain God, and the result has been millions of confused double-minded people. Prideful endeavors result in the building of fancy structures, but only scatters the flock into sects and denominations derailed from entering into God’s Kingdom.

The Ekklesia are people; therefore, there are no physical buildings to be built; they are made through Jesus Christ by what He has done. All additional efforts of man are vain.

For it is written,“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart.” – 1 Corinthians 1:19

  • Why can’t we just simply lift up who Jesus Christ is?

It is that simple. Once we do that, He will draw men to Himself. The Gospel is not about what we do, but everything to do with what He has done.

And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” - John 12:32

Yielding to Jesus Christ is about letting Him live through us and letting Him finish the work that He started. All we have to do is die to our own carnal way of doing things. He cannot live through us unless we let Him.

In Who's Name

The Ekklesia are not the gathering of a large crowd of people at the same place at the same time very Sunday morning.

  • Do really believe that all the people in "churches" are of sound mind in one accord with Jesus Christ by His leading in predictable ritual?

Many are sincere in wanting to gather together and experience Jesus Christ, but when it is done in ignorance of truth, they will not find what they seek.

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge – Hosea 4:6

We are not to assemble, or gather as the Ekklesia in any way we see fit, or what we think is best, but according to the pattern that we are shown in God’s Word. The modern "church" gathers because they want to be part of something that appeals, relates and suits them at that particular time. All they know is what is prescribed by their customary man-made liturgy because they have always done it that way.

I would hope it would be pretty easy to figure out that this is not what God has shown us in His Word, nor does it match up with what God wants us to do. Any gathering that is grounded in our own desires, preference and pleasures is the work of own carnality. It is a fleshly endeavor; therefore, Jesus Christ will not be in the midst of the people playing "church." We are to gathering in a name of Jesus Christ, not a denominational title.

A gathering in the name of Jesus Christ is about what He desires us to do, for His pleasure and to His preferences.

And he said, “See that you are not led astray. For many will come in my name – Luke 21:8

  • Can you not see that there is something wrong with the way that you assemble together in church?

You may see nothing wrong with your traditions, but it is an abomination. Step back and take an objective look at the customary practice of “church.” It has no Biblical precedence and what is done in “Jesus’ name” is vain supposition.

The man you call “pastor” in the building you call “church” does not walk behind the sheep to make sure they are on the right path, but is elevated in front of them in an artificial environment of pews, pulpits, stained glass and salaried officials.

We are ALL called to be a priesthood where ALL of us can build and edify each other, not within the shackles of organized religion.

Jesus Christ is Lord of the Ekklesia. Settling for a few select men as lords will only make the masses see Jesus Christ from afar.

  • Are you willing to search the Scriptures to find the truth and open your heart to consider that the system is all wrong?

Assembling together in His name is not about our names, your pastor’s name, or a name of a building, or a denomination. There is still time to get back on course, but don’t hesitate before it is too late.

Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light to my path. – Psalm 119:105

Do you gather together with a crowd of people called "church" at the same place and time each week in a predictable fashion?

The church has nothing to do with a building, it is made up of people who are the living stones that build up the church of Christ. Romans 16:16 A building cannot greet you but people can. Our lives are how we worship God-Romans 12:1/2 We have corrupted the teaching of the New Testament when we make the building the Church. Our bodies are the temple of God 1 Cor.6:19

      Good Morning PandN,

I just had an idea. Take it for what it's worth. It seems that most of the people that read your hubs see what you are saying, but there are so many out there that don't and may never read your hubs. Maybe you could make copies of your writings and mail them to "churches". It's the lost that really need to hear. Will they listen? Maybe - maybe not, but at least they've heard. Anyway, just a thought. Have a great weekend!

lifegate, I think you have suggested a good idea. So, PandN should you decide to send some of your writings to them, you might want to mention the true Church of Christ does not and never will have a need for an address or a mail box.

God bless PandN and you too lifegate.

      John Smulders,

Thank-you for the complement of Scripture verses. By simply reading what the Church did in the New Testament affirms the corruption of what most call "church" today. God Bless.

I see the corruption of "church" all around me and throughout the world. I am encouraged that there are some people that get the message, but most deem it as too radical. I even struggled with the title of the article because it is an extreme statement, but I believe it to be true. We live in a time when people no longer want to repent, even when the evidence is placed right in front of them.

I have enough material for a book, and have been slowly putting together chapters, but it takes many, many hours of work. I need Berean readers here to weigh and test the words and give feedback. Satan uses every trick in the book because he knows the Word of God as well. We must all have a good foundation in God's Word to thwart his trickery. Fighting for truth will always bring persecution. We cannot each be lone rangers fighting against the Antichrist spirit, but we need each other to be accountable and work together as the Holy Spirit leads.

Thank-you for your thoughts and I'll give it some consideration.

I have sent a letter/ e-mail to "church" leaders before, but most will not acknowledge anything unless you have certain credentials that they deem worthy. The fact is, I don't care what they want, or if they accept me or not. All I cared about was being obedient to God when He told me to give the message to them. God Bless.
