What about right now? .... The present moment. Forget tomorrow and focus on today!

Updated on May 16, 2017

Today is really what matters most.

We seem to be a society of procrastinators. Satisfied to put things off until tomorrow. I will get to that is often our motto. Well, what about today or even this very moment. The question comes down to who do you love more? ... Yourself or your God. We are all selfish at our base. It is so difficult cause we are born into it and we spend the majority of our lives trying to get ahead or trying to get that thing that will somehow make our lives more meaningful and worthwhile. News flash, you will always be left with emptiness with a focus on the material. The majority of the world does not know where it will get food enough to get through the day. We are blessed beyond belief. We take so very much for granted each day. This is in no way to suggest that God does not want you to have nice things and an abundance of blessings. He most certainly does. He just does not want you to lose sight of some very important things. First and foremost the many blessings bestowed on us are His workings not ours. Second, remember to worship Him, not some idol or tangible item, i.e. a car or house or job, etc. The bible says that all of these things will pass away. Indeed all of those things will and do pass away. Jesus said all things will pass away but my words will never pass away. His words and this magnificent bible have survived generation after generation and century after century. There is a reason the bible is here yesterday, today and tomorrow. Matthew 24 says that only God knows the hour He is returning but don't you want to be prepared and ready? God's word survives all things, all peoples and all nations. This poor, Jewish carpenter saved the world and saved you and I at the same time. He is simply awesome! We need to love Him and each day live the day as we do love Him and manifest His ways into our lives. It is not easy but is surely possible if we let Him work. How does that one song go? ... Oh yeah, they will know we are Christians by our love ... By our love. It is not all that difficult when you think about it. After all, we have the greatest role model of all time in Jesus Christ. He loves us and we need to return His love. Not tomorrow or next week or next year but right now in this very moment. Do not put it off any longer cause the time is clearly at hand. So live in Christ in the present and let tomorrow take care of itself. God says I made a covenant with you and you became mine. God is with you right now. Do you really want to make Him wait? ...... Him? Get busy doing things His way and stop doing them your way. His way is the greatest way.

Consider these bible verses on the now:

James 4:13 Come now, you who say, " Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit." ; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away,

Isaiah 43:21 This people I have formed for Myself; They shall declare My praise.

Matthew 6:34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

1 Thessalonians 5:16 Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

God bless always.
