The Importance of Glory and Why You Should Care

Updated on January 17, 2012

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. - Luke 2:14

And they were calling to one another: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory." - Isaiah 6:3

Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God. - 1 Corinthians 10:31

The Importance of Glory

In our fast paced world, we rush about so much we tend to forget what's most important when it comes to our faith. When we aren't walking straight with God, we get caught up in our problems, addictions, obsessions, and fears, and they do nothing but frustrate us. These are the very things the enemy wants to trip you up with so that you'll take your mind off of God and instead focus on problem after problem. We need to make a conscious decision to give God the glory throughout the day if we want to heal and preserve our fragile souls. Glory is honoring and praising God with every ounce of our souls and it affects every area of our lives in the process. We were made by God and everything we do is done for the glory of God. It isn't about us and what we can get. The world might have you think that but that's the quickest way to misery. We were all born for God's purpose, great or small, and we all play an important role in God's plan. Whether we like it not, we affect people by how we live our lives spiritually. We either live in darkness or light. We consciously choose which path we take every day. Some may choose to turn their spiritual life off, but it's still there burning brightly even if you choose to ignore it. It just won't go away.

Living With Glory 24/7.

When you live for the glory of God, your perspective changes for the better. The more you glorify him, the happier your soul will be. It's a little hard to praise God and be angry at the same time. When you live for the glory of God, your body and mind are transformed. Your body is no longer yours to do what you may with it. Your body becomes God's Holy temple to be cherished and to be kept clean so that it can be used to honor God, not disgrace him. When you live for the glory of God, your mind is no longer your own. Your mind is used to glorify God and in turn your thoughts are held captive with the desire to obey God. When you concentrate on glorifying God, you start to feel his great light shine through you with beauty, faith, and hope. It's a little hard for Satan to tempt you with all kinds of issues if you're too busy giving God the glory in all areas of your life. When you choose to go your own way, your spiritual life will suffer because you know you're living a lie apart from God's Truth. We all trip up from time to time, because we're human, but the key is not to stay down. You have to get right back up and fight the good fight and you can do that by glorifying God.

Glory Shines Bright!

When we give God the glory, we rise above our situation, no matter how bleak it may be. We begin to forget our troubles and put them in perspective. God gives us grace, love and mercy and in return we give him all the glory. No man is an island when it comes to keeping one's faith together with all the temptations out there. In our new technological age, people are isolated more than ever before. Churches are needed now more than ever. Many people out there are suffering in silence and they need to make an effort to connect with others who are strong believers so that they can heal.

Glorifying God is the answer. We all work together as one for the glory of God in the body of Christ. Jesus unites us and keeps us working together like a well-oiled machine. If your soul stands alone, it grows weak and starts to break down, and worst of all it starts to become vulnerable to all the ills and temptations of this world. God didn't design us to stand alone and God definitely didn't design us to seek out a life separate from him. Many people hide away their faith in private when it's meant to be shared in a church with other followers. Your church is your life line to love and honor God. The church keeps your connection strong and alive throughout your life. Your soul is quenched when you stand as one with others to give God the glory with praise and worship. By following his path and being actively involved in church, we nourish our souls in a way that completes us. It's a mistake to go it alone with one's faith and it was never meant to work that way. We are all on a spiritual journey together and it was meant to be shared with love and unity.

Why Should You Care?

If you are too caught up in your own problems, when do you plan on giving God his glory? Squeezing it into your busy schedule just won't work. You should care about making glory the main event in your life because it makes a huge difference with your walk with Christ. Glory is all around you. When you focus on God's glory, your problems are no longer the focus of your life. When you realize that God comes first and we are here but for a short time to give him the glory he so richly deserves, your persepective becomes lighter and easier. Let's face it, we all know the fastest way to become depressed or angry is to focus on our problems and go into the "Woe is me" mode. The fastest way to release the agony and the pain, is to take your eyes off of that problem and place them on God. He is there for us. Reach out to God. Pray to God. Cry out to God. Surrender to God. Do whatever it takes, but give God the glory in every aspect of your life.

Glory Touches Every Area of Your Life

Think about glorifying God with the people you touch throughout the day. Allow God to use you for his purpose. Instead of asking God to bring you that amazing husband or great job, ask him for his Will to be done. At the end of the day, it's not about what we want. It's about his purpose and his plan for our lives. It all points back to him. When you glorify God, your relationships start to change for the better. You will begin to see God's love reflected in the people around you. When you glorify God through your work, you begin to take greater pride in it, because it's not about simply doing a job, it's about doing a job in such a way that will bring honor to God. When you glorify God with your body, it's no longer your body to do whatever you want with. Your body is transformed into God's Holy Temple to be used to honor him and to be kept clean for him. A clean body used to glorify God is like a beautiful house you feel at peace in. Who wouldn't want that? How is it possible to glorify God if you're drowning in filth and sin when nobody is looking? Giving God the glory in every area of our lives benefits our body, mind and soul and brings out the best in us.

All Roads Lead Back to God.

Everything in this world leads right back to God and his glory. When we have the right attitude, we realize that it isn't about "me" and what can I get. Life is temporary. God didn't design us as selfish creatures out to get what we can while we can. He designed us to love one another as he first loved us. When we get it right, we realize it's about giving God the glory and allowing him to use us for his purpose. So when things look bleak, turn that switch on for glory. Rise above the situation and give God the glory! Fight for what is right and give God the glory! Do whatever it takes to make the best out of a bad situation and through it all give God the glory! The more you glorify God, the more your attitude will change for the better in the darkest hour and the light of God's glory will shine through you like nothing else can. Amen.

They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom and talk of Your power, to make known to the sons of men God's mighty deeds and the glorious majesty of His kingdom. - Psalms - 145: 11-12

Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; meditate on and talk of all His wondrous works and devoutly praise them! Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord! - 1 Chronicles 16: 9-10

Amen to becoming happier and gaining a better attitude "when you live for the glory of God".

I like what you said about God not designing us to "stand alone and seek a life separate from Him." I said something similar in my hub entitled, "I Don't Need God". Maybe you could read it sometime. I would appreciate your feedback.

      God bless you!
