What is God's Plan For My Life?

Do you know what your purpose in life is?

Have you found your purpose? Your reson?

I think that all of us could agree that is the question of the ages for us as Christians. What would God have me to do with the rest of my life now that I am of the kingdom? Am I pleasing him with what I am doing, or could I be using my talent better elsewhere? What would Jesus have me to do? I have been struggeling with these questions for the better part of a decade and do not anticipate the resolution to come tomorrow. I fully expect that this is part of the Christian struggle for the modern day saint. How we deal with our questions can influence others greatly, however our answer must be in line with our faith, and we must answer!

There are a few areas of life that are not so vague to us as believers, areas like sin, we know that we are not to intentionally live a life of sin! We know we are not to commit adultery, but the answer to the question of what are we placed on the earth to do is much more difficult.

We all know and have heard the verse in Jeremiah 29:11 which says that God knows the plans he has for us. That is comforting, unless you do not know the plans yourself and then it can be maddening! I have faith that God knows what I am supposed to do but me on the other hand I have no clue. I do not believe that I could mess up the plan of God however, I know I am not that important. I may be able to be less effective as a Christian however if I am out of the center of His will. I enjoying reading biographies of great christian heroes of years past like William Cameron Townsend the founder of Wycliff Bible Translators, and others. In these books you can see the clear hand of God guiding their lives. You can see they were in the center of God's will because things always seemed to work out.

In my life things work out I guess, to a point anyway, we always have food and a place to stay. It may mean that for the last 7 years I have been working most of the time 2 jobs and going to school at the same time but things work out. Not in my spiritual life however. I read and learn about God everyday. What I can't grasp is my purpose. My reason that God put me on the earth for! I do not mean to be cynical because I know the Bible is the Truth, I just do not know what I am to do next. This may be strange but I am not going to feed platitudes to anyone and tell them it is okay that as long as we believe and know that we are going to heaven that all else is okay. No I want to say that I think it is very important to have a purpose and reason for everything that you do and say, write and think. After all in Numbers 23:19 Hath he said and shall he not do it or hath he spoken and shall he not make it good. (KJV) I know then that he no doubt knows his plan and that he does have a plan. But I do not know that I am fulfilling the plan that he has for me.

Is it important what you do in life or is it more important for whom you do it?

Advice?

There are many sources of advice on this subject, and many of them good. What I can't seem to nail down is a solid answer to my question. How do I know that I am in the center of God's will for my life? I have read books on this and articles in magazines. There are many sources to turn to because this is a question that many of us ask. Some of it great and some not so great. I have received advice from a pastor friend of mine to the affect that as long as you are not living in sin and are not living in contrary to the Word of God then he could care less what you do for a living, you don't have to be a missionary to be a born again heaven bound Christian.

But, why do we need to, seek advice if we believe that God has a plan then why should we worry about what we are doing? I think that the answer to that is multifaceted, first I think that we know that God is in control of things that happen, but he gave us free will and that means that we can choose to be a part of what is happening or not to be involved. Second, he gave us a conscience and the Holy Spirit to guide us in our decision making, and help us to know that we are secure. Thirdly he gave us his word to know how to respond when we encounter situations and different things of the sort. If you are constantly bothered and thinking that there is more that you could be doing then who is to say that the Holy Spirit is not the one causing you to be uneasy. I think that we have to face it as a possibility, not the only possibility but a definite possibility.

Balance

You have heard it said that it is all about balance. I do not know how true that this is in life and especially in our faith in the almighty and his plan for our lives. The one thing that I do know is that we must weigh our lives in the balance and see if we are doing all we can or are we just getting by. I do not believe that the good works that we do help save us or that we are any better off for doing them but I do think that we are made for good works, so that people will see our good works and praise the Father in heaven because of us; Mathew 5:16.

When I weigh my life in the balances for example I do not believe that I am doing what I am made to do, for a couple of reasons. I work an average of 100-115 hours per week between two full time jobs that I work. I like my jobs but they are nothing that I can see God planning my life around. Not only that but I am torn because it takes me away from my children and they are a true source of joy in my life. I am miserable when I have to stay away from them for 18 or 20 hours at a time and am required to go directly from one job to the next. I just can't see God's plan for my life including this. I sometimes have difficulty just reading my Bible not to mention praying! I just want to do what God wants me to do. I just need to know what it is.

How about you? Do you struggle with your purpose, or with what you are supposed to do in life? You are not alone, and there are many great resources on the topic if you just take the time to find them. One of the best books that I Have read on the subject is written by Charles F. Stanley, How to reach your full potential for God. Give it a read and see if it helps you to decide what you should be doing for God. Honestly I can't say that it helped me find my purpose but I can say that it helped me to find meaning in what I am doing. While I still do not think that I have reached my full potential, I am on the track to doing so...I think.

Update

Since writing this article, through much prayer and many hours of work... I feel that I finally got an answer to the prayer that I have been praying for years. I believe that I found my calling. Since I last written I have ran for public office, and while I lost, I think that public service of some sort, and maybe only a blog, or YouTube channel will satisfy my calling to engage voters, and keep them abreast of what is happening. I will be writing more frequently now and hope to garner lots of supporters through my writing.

Col 1:16 because by means of him all other things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All other things have been created through him and( for him ).

We were created because of God’s Son Jesus.

Joh 15:13 No one has love greater than this, that someone should surrender his life in behalf of his friends.

Eph 5:1, 2 Therefore, become imitators of God, as beloved children, 2 and go on walking in love, just as the Christ also loved us and gave himself for us as an offering and a sacrifice, a sweet fragrance to God.

To sum it all up we exist because God created us, and he loved his creation , his son we were created for and he loved us so much , he was willing to die for us to save us from total distruction, based on that our genetics was marked to end life soon without a hope of return, when we were actually suppose to live endlessly.

The cure has been provided , Jesus paid for it.

But soon the earth will be cleaned first and after that people will be given the cures we all need. And the resurrection hope of love ones will return.

But our life and purpose can be found from the very start when the heavenly Father told Adam and Eve ,

Ge 1:28 Further, God blessed them, and God said to them: “Be fruitful and become many, fill the earth and subdue it, and have in subjection the fish of the sea and the flying creatures of the heavens and every living creature that is moving on the earth.”

Ge 9:1 God went on to bless Noah and his sons and to say to them: “Be fruitful and become many and fill the earth.

Ge 9:7 As for you, be fruitful and become many, and increase abundantly on the earth and multiply.”

The point here was his purpose for us to live be happy , and fill the earth with happy people.

Satan has intervene for a moment to prove his accusations. But they have failed .we are soon to move on past all the disasters his system now has caused.

And God's purpose for us will begin.
