What is the difference between Born again christian and roman catholic?

Updated on June 19, 2013

Is there any big differences between a roman catholic and born again christian? My families were baptized in a Catholic church and so do I. I had confirmation when I was 14, I think. What makes me confused is I don't know who I really am as a roman catholic. I am religious. Praying the rosary is not enough for me. I feel like I'm not talking to Jesus because we keep on saying "Hail Mary full of Grace...." and "Our Father in Heaven, Holy be thy name...." That is why I can say that there is something missing. I'm not trying to be mean right now. We confess our sins by talking to our priests (Confession). I want to confess directly to Jesus and I don't even say those prayers (Hail Mary and Our Father). And I don't feel like I am a Roman Catholic. I don't really even understand why we have confirmation and why we have to pray the rosary at 6 pm.

I have few friends who are born again christian. One of them told me last night that to be born again is to receive Salvation, and be saved through receiving The Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour, that we have to believe in Him, repent and follow Him. I want to begin a new life. The way I pray is different from them. I talk to Jesus, cry and confess my sins with all my heart. I'm scared that my parents will be mad at me because I am not fully roman catholic. I don't know any churches in Oslo, Norway. What must man do to be a born again christian and how can we baptized?

THE NEW BIRTH MUST TAKE IN PLACE IN US OR WE CANNOT ENTER THE KINGDOM OF GOD

Jesus said these words in Mt 18:3-EXCEPT YE BE CONVERTED, AND BECOME AS LITTLE CHILDREN, YE SHALL NOT ENTER INTO THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN. Thus we have another condition on entering heaven. You (1) must be converted, and (2) you must become as little children. When you are born the second time, born of the Spirit, a conversion takes place in your attitude. By faith you begin to overcome all things. Your attitude changes. You begin to love the Word of God. You begin to hate sin and every evil way. You become converted from doing your will, to doing the will of God, and you must become as little children. In other words, your attitude must become childlike. You begin receiving correction as a little child from the Word of God. You quit striving about the Word of God. You quit being contentious regarding the Word of God, and receive God’s Word in a humble, meek, childlike attitude. You begin to let Jesus reign over you. Whatever you do should be compared with the Word of God. Few people will allow God’s Word to reign over them. They want their own way. They perish. You must be born-again. You must be converted. You must become as a little child, who receives correction from his parents gladly and willingly. You must do God’s will, or perish.

Some incorrectly think "to be converted" means to convert from (not believing in Jesus) to (believing in Jesus). Many believe in Jesus in their thoughts or mind, but they do not trust in Him or believe and trust in all the Bible. He is in their head but not in their heart. They know "of Him" but they do not personally "know Him." They are at best only lukewarm. They have little or no true commitment to Jesus.

Some may think it is being converted from something like Hinduism to Christianity. Wrong. Being converted is putting off the old man and putting on the new man. Many people profess that they are Christians, but they have never been converted to the new man. Many will perish at the judgment, perhaps claiming these words, "I am a Christian."

Just saying you are a Christian does not save you or convert you or cause you to be born-again.

      Hi Linda, God bless you!! As you know Jesus said unless we are born again on no wise will we see the Kingdom. I am so glad I have Jesus as my Lord and Saviour! I went for years thinking I was but I was instead headed to the point that Jesus would have told me get behind me I never knew you. Praise the name of Jesus for the Holy Spirit called me by my name and gave me faith to believe! One must be born of the water and the blood.

      To be born again is with the spirit; we believe in our heart and confess with our mouths that we believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We ask him to forgive us of our sins and come into our hearts. It is a relationship with Jesus Christ the true born again Christian does and believes this. That is the difference in being born again. 1. Believe that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior. 2. Believe he died and rose again to forgive us of our sins; he is the only way to heaven. 3. Believe he was born of the Virgin Mary. 4. Believe he is coming again to receive his true church his born again Christians. 5. Believe the Holy Bible is the true word of God. This is the five fundamental beliefs that the true Christian has.

      dear hope @ 4 months ago, hope you get this in your email..

      wonder if you and your boyfriend are still together. On the one hand it isn't easy to marry with a Protestant and Catholic together,..there will be lots of pulling going on in your future, if you do, and his parents are more aware of this than you two.

      It can be done, but will be more difficult than if you were both in the same church.

      Why his parents want you to be sure you are or get born again is, that there are many people Catholic and Protestant who are in a 'religion' not in real connection with God. Protestants think this is more likely with Catholics and vice versa.

      There are all the arguments in Protestants still, that originally took Protestants out of the Catholic church we were in, and reformed us from

      Catholic ways.

      This is not to say that you cannot be Catholic and love God and be a true follower of Jesus, which I think you can, but Protestants want to make sure that you know God personally and have had the 'new spiritual birth', becoming 'new creations in Christ Jesus'. This is what the parents advised their son to make sure you have before you continue in your relationship. Also, you could be a Catholic that doesn't have this experience yet, which it is vitally important to have, and by experience I don't mean you have to 'feel' God, I mean you must make sure you have this new birth, or spiritual birth from above, as I advised my Catholic friend he must. Catholic teaching says you get this at your baby baptism, and while babies and young children were baptized into Jesus in the early church, this doesn't mean that just a baby baptism is all the believer needs to connect fully to God.

      If you look at what the family is wanting you to do, as them wanting you to make sure you have the new spiritual birth that JEsus spoke of, 'you must be born again', and also they fully water baptize adults, dunking them under, like Jesus was fully dunked under by John the Baptist, you can follow and do this if you are sincerely following God, because you are following Jesus in doing it. It is not against the Catholic way, because the Catholic way is based on the bible too, and so are these people, and because they are not fully knowing the Catholic way, they want to be sure that you are 'right with God' the way they know how to be.

      Yes, same Jesus, same Father God and same Holy Spirit.

      Jesus was baptized fully under the water, although He didn't have to be because he was always without sin, we are not without any sin at all, so we can follow this baptism by immersion, because Jesus did it himself,..

      ...it is the baptism of the adult person who has committed themselves to fully follow Jesus, as opposed to the baby baptism of the baby who knows nothing and whose parents are speaking for him, in the adult baptism yourparents are not speaking for you, but you are speaking and saying as an adult that you are fully committed to following Jesus.

      "Born-Again" is the term Jesus Himself used to describe to Nicodemus, a Jewish religious ruler, "what he had to do to see the kingdom of God. " This answered the man's question, which he secretly came to Jesus at night to ask, (he was avoiding being seen, because there was antagonism between the religious rulers and Jesus, because Jesus spoke up about a few things that were wrong in the 'religious system'.)

      Jesus told Nic. that "he must be born again". Nic asked how could he do that seeing he was an adult man, and there was no chance of a second trip down the birth canal. Jesus replied that the second birth, or birth from above was a spiritual birth, no less important than the first one, and that it was Absolutely Necessary, in order to see the kingdom of God.

      Born again is Not a New Term, Jesus himself used it and told everyone that they needed to have this in order to "Enter Into" the things of God.

      It is worthwhile to jump in here. I will definately side with the born-again. I am one myself, having been born and raised catholic for over 30 years. I speak with both human and godly wisdom.

      If the spirit of God is absent in you, you are headed to hell when you die. It has nothing to do with what religion you are in, even merely participating in 'born-again' worship wont cut it. It's that personal. I know because I tried it for over 15 years. Merely consenting to the " Jesus as Lord and my Savior" confession without really "yielding myself to Him". I remained catholic, born-again sympathizer for more than 10+years, possibly out of my 'natural upbringing' and attitude to love everyone. But I strongly thought, Catholism was true, though I looked for born-again for miracles which I only got almost never at all!

      But reading the views, and opinions of those who side with catholics, I see a deep lack of knowledge of God. Catholics are proud, and dont want to 'let go' and surrender to Jesus. The feeling of helplessnes that Jesus talked about when He said that unless you come to me as little children, you will not enter into heaven. Most catholics, as other man-made religions want to put their followers into a sense that they are the ones in control of their destiny. They are powerful, and are in charge. This couldnt be further from the trueth. As born-again, I know, I am here to serve the will of God. Period. Whatever I do, it is His will will, not my way.

      Others commented and said, we can all go to heaven, by different paths(religions). This is wrong. Jesus said am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except thru me.

      Furthermore, catholics are lazy to seek the word of God, hence they remain oblivious to the trueth. If you know the true, you will be set free. Trueth is in the God-inspired word, the bible. read it, study, it, medidate on it. It's better than spending 4-year getting a degree in finance and end up claiming that "we can use different paths to the same destination(heave)".

      Finally, some people who are not yet born-again, will one day be born again. It just goes to say, that man is really inferior, though he labours (though in vain) to prove otherwise. But the whole point, is that people need to know about satan/evil and why the world is the way it is. People need to know that it was satan(lucifer) who caused sin to enter the world. Lucifer once an angel of God, sinned when he tried to 'overthrow' the Creator (God). Basically this angel was all glory and good until pride (read as sin) was found into his heart.Ezekiel 28:15.

      God cast out this creature out of heaven and lucifer came with a third of the angels who sided with him. Those are your demons, here. Lucifer has since preyed on unsuspecting man, as a way to 'seek revenge to God" Satan hates God, and he hates you too! But God has defated Satan, end of discussion. And God loves us so much that even when we were still sinners He sent His son to die for us,Romans 5:8 .

      Because, the original sin, separated man from God (rendered man's to be born without Spirit of God), from that point on, satan has been feasting! Unless the Spirit of God is in you, the things of God are nonsence. That is why catholics, and other religions try so much to justify their reasoned faith, simply because there is no spirit of God in them . They just find that find everything we born-again believe, do, say, and the bible all are nonsense. (1 Corinthians 2:14) and so, you all know where they will end-up, for the word of the Cross is folly to those who are perishing.(1 Corinthians 1:18).

      But catholics as are other religions are not alone. All this is the manifestation of the hate that satan has on God's creature on earth called man. By the way, God cares about man, and so satan knows that if he can lead as many as he can to hell with Him, it will 'hurt' God. But God couldnt have cared more. He Himself became man, and ascended down on the earth and defeated satan. Now the easy part, remaining is for man to believe in Jesus, and that God raised Him from the dead. Many catholics, will argue that they believe this, and therefore, they dont need to be born-again, but I tell you all catholics and others not born-again, are in bondage to sin, guilt and death. These are real life experiences. Unless you believe in Jesus, not just intellectual faith(which is what most purpoted christians like catholics teach), you are headed to hell.

      People also need to realise, that talking so much about God, and disputing born-again faith, and doctrine, which is by the way according to the true word of God, takes them away from their real problem. Those people's real problem is not lack of believing in God, their problem is falling prey to the schemes of satan. While such people want to use their reasoning against God, they never bother to see how their reasoning would help them defeat their bondage from satan.

      Being bonded to satan(death and sin and guilt) they hate God, and reject Him at the heart level, though physically they may claim His name (thru their chosen religion). For instance, satan uses the 'ways of the world" to trap as many as he can. Though the ways of the world may seem good and nice, they only appeal to your ego, but your spirit/soul will continue to battle with the real questions that satan will never want you to find answers to. So many people prefer to settle-for-less or resort to 'good works' or 'crowd-influence', all of which will not save your soul from destruction. Even merely keeping the law of God, without faith in Jesus wont cut it.

      Becasue satan wants you to be destroyed eventually, that is why he appeals to your intellect, so you can end up un-regenerated, and therefore ripe and fattened for slaughter on the final day.

      For instance, some people cited historical records, showing that catholic church was the first church, and universal church, therfore is the true religion and way to God. You need to consider, Rome was historically in charge of all the world. It is there in the bible. All kings all over the world, has to answer to the Ceaser of Rome.

      Rome was explicity against God. So, any way they could find a chance to 'take over' the trueth, and 'legalise' it into a 'systemetised' form of religion would help them draw more power over people. Here I dont mean that catholic is about controlling people. But I think many of you have heard the saying that religion was invented by the state to control people. This is probably true of the origins of catholic; and 2000 later, even when new smaller and more powerful governments are born, all religion still is used by state to control people.

      However, when you are born-again, you are not into any religion. You join a family of Jesus which supersede nations.

      Also someone said, how come 'born-again' is relatively new, so does it mean all those years people were wrong! No and Yes. God Himself has the ability to cause the birth of revival. Can someone tell me what the word born-again was 2000 years ago? Such people should also imagine that 2000 years the world was not 7+billion people, or had diverse and complex social structures as today. Just imagine 2000 years ago there were about 300m people spread across the entire face of the world. This means that the world was less socially complex as today, and less diverse.

      Therefore, even in those days, true followers of Jesus existed, the point is they could have referred to themselves by a different name. But, yes, they were born-again.

      The reason why governments strive to impose 'structure' on a faith, is because they wish to conform its members to an ideology which serves the rulers. Otherwise, you don't really have to belong to any "religious groupings' to be born-again. Am sure, in some states, government has to issue a legal licence to a group/pastor before fellowship can take place. But this serves to advance the interests of the government whose officers in most cases are themselves of the view that religion is to control people, so they need to maintain control over it in turn!

      dear Arc:

      I noticed you did not respond to the inquisition question?

      The inquisition casts doubt on the whole catholic organization from the get go to now.

      Although there are several scriptures for the Word appearing as water in scripture, and only one scripture saying,..'baptism now saves you', you still hold to your point that the water has to be baptismal water.

      (of course you would as this is the Catholic decision on this scripture, which all Catholics must accept or be excommunicated,-right?)

      My main argument against baby baptism being the new birth, is twofold.

      First point; there are thirty baby baptized Catholics in our Pentecostal church, including our pastor, and they all tell us that they were never born again until adulthood, which they tell us is a separate experience from their baby baptism, at which point they left the Catholic church, because of being upset that they were never born again or told how to get born again while in the Catholic church.

      I am not making this up, ..our pastor, who is an avid follower of Jesus, finds this very upsetting about Catholicism, which he now says he thinks is failing to follow Jesus by making sure its' adherents are truly new creations in Christ Jesus, -and are instead allowing people to perish.

      This is not a Protestant Catholic argument, it is sadly what we have heard from so many, who believe they were never born again in the Catholic organization, and only found out about it outside of Catholicism.

      This is what makes me doubt babies are actually getting born again when they get baptized, because we have many adults to prove it, who say so.

      The second point against this happening is the difference between the behavior of these x-Catholic born again Christians, and Catholic people we know who go to Catholic church. The born again x Catholics have changed their lives, are now showing the fruit that makes us know they have truly Christ in them. The Catholic people we know mentioned above, still live like the world with its behaviours, attitudes, and practice sin, counting on confession as their out, to go right back and do the same living, sinning, etc. all over again. Their lives and behaviours haven't changed to become godly.

      Again this is not anti Catholic, but addressing real things we have seen and experienced

      “Have you been born again, my friend?” Thousands of Catholics have been asked this question by well-meaning Fundamentalists or Evangelicals. Of course, by “born again” the Protestant usually means: “Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior through the recitation of ‘the sinner’s prayer?”” How is a Catholic to respond?

      The simple Catholic response is: “Yes, I have been born again—when I was baptized.” In fact, Jesus’ famous “born again” discourse of John 3:3-5, which is where we find the words “born again” in Scripture, teaches us about the essential nature of baptism:

      Jesus answered him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God." Nicode'mus said to him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?" Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.”

      At this point, a Fundamentalist or Evangelical will respond almost predictably: “Baptism does not save you, brother; John 3:5 says we must be born of water and the Spirit.” The Catholic will then be told the “water” of John 3:5 has nothing to do with baptism. Depending on the preference of the one to whom the Catholic is speaking, the “water” will either be interpreted as man’s natural birth (the “water” being amniotic fluid), and “the Spirit” would then represent the new birth, or the water would represent the word of God through which one is born again when he accepts Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior.

      Amniotic Fluid vs. Baptismal Water

      To claim the “water” of John 3:5 is amniotic fluid is to stretch the context just a smidgen! When we consider the actual words and surrounding context of John 3, the waters of baptism seem to be the more reasonable—and biblical—interpretation. Consider these surrounding texts:

      John 1:31-34: Jesus was baptized. If you compare the parallel passage in St. Matthew’s gospel (3:16), you find that when Jesus was baptized, “the heavens were opened” and the Spirit descended upon him. Obviously, this was not because Jesus needed to be baptized. In fact, St. John the Baptist noted that he needed to be baptized by Jesus (see Matthew 3:14)! Jesus was baptized in order “fulfill all righteousness” and “to give knowledge of salvation to his people in the forgiveness of their sins,” according to Scripture (cf. Matt. 3:15; Luke 1:77). In other words, Jesus demonstrably showed us the way the heavens would be opened to us so that the Holy Spirit would descend upon us… through baptism.

      John 2:1-11: Jesus performed his first miracle. He transformed water into wine. Notice, Jesus used water from “six stone jars … for the Jewish rites of purification.” According to the Septuagint as well as the New Testament these purification waters were called baptismoi (see LXX, Numbers 19:9-19; cf. Mark 7:4). We know that Old Testament rites, sacrifices, etc. were only “a shadow of the good things to come” (Hebrews 10:1). They could never take away sins. This may well be why “six” stone jars are specified by St. John—to denote imperfection, or “a human number” (cf. Rev. 13:18). It is interesting to note that Jesus transformed these Old Testament baptismal waters into wine—a symbol of New Covenant perfection (see Joel 3:18; Matthew 9:17).

      John 3:22: Immediately after Jesus’ “born again” discourse to Nicodemus, what does He do? "... Jesus and his disciples went into the land of Judea; there he remained with them and baptized." It appears he baptized folks. This is the only time in Scripture we find Jesus apparently actually baptizing.

      John 4:1-2: Jesus’ disciples then begin to baptize at Jesus’ command. It appears from the text, Jesus most likely only baptized his disciples and then they baptized everyone else.

      In summary, Jesus was baptized, transformed the “baptismal” waters, and then gave his famous “born again” discourse. He then baptized before commissioning the apostles to go out and baptize. To deny Jesus was teaching us about baptism in John 3:3-5 is to ignore the clear biblical context.

      Moreover, John 3:5 is not describing two events; it describes one event. The text does not say “unless one is born of water and then born again of the Spirit...” It says “unless one is born of water and Spirit...” If we hearken back to the Lord’s own baptism in John 1 and Matt. 3, we notice when our Lord was baptized the Holy Spirit descended simultaneously upon him. This was one event, involving both water and the Spirit. And so it is with our baptism. If we obey God in being baptized—that’s our part of the deal—we can count on God to concurrently “open the heavens” for us and give us the Holy Spirit.

      And finally, it would be anachronistic to read into Jesus’ use of “water” to mean physical birth in John’s gospel. In fact, St. John had just used a word to refer to physical birth in John 1:12-13, but it wasn’t “water:”

      But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God; who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

      St. John here tells us we are not made children of God by birth (“of blood”), or by our own attempts whether they be through our lower nature (“of the flesh”) or even through the higher powers of our soul (“the will of man”); rather, we must be born of God, or by God’s power. Notice, St. John refers to natural birth colloquially as “of blood,” not “of water.”

      Washing of Water by the Word

      It is perhaps an even greater stretch to attempt to claim the “water” of John 3:3-5 represents the word of God. At least with the amniotic fluid argument, you have mention of “birth” in the immediate context. However, the Protestant will sometimes refer to Ephesians 5:25-26 and a few other texts to make this point:

      Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word…

      “See?” a Protestant may say, “The ‘washing of water’ is here equated to ‘the word’ that cleanses us.” If you couple this text with Jesus’ words in John 15:3, “You are already made clean by the word which I have spoken to you,” the claim is made, that “the water” of John 3:5 would actually refer to the word of God rather than baptism.

      The Catholic Response

      Beyond the obvious fact that there is nothing in the context of John's gospel to even remotely point to "water" as referring to "the word," we can point out immediately a point of agreement. Both Catholics and Protestants agree that Jesus’ words—unless one is born anew (or, again)—speak of man’s initial entrance into the body of Christ through God’s grace. Perhaps it would be helpful at this point to ask what the New Testament writers saw as the instrument whereby one first enters into Christ. This would be precisely what we are talking about when we speak of being “born again.”

      I Peter 3:20-21: “... in the days of Noah during the building of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were saved through water. Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a clear conscience, through the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.”

      Romans 6:3-4: "Are you unaware that we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were indeed buried with Him through baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might live in newness of life."

      Galatians 3:27: "For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ."

      I Cor. 12:13: "For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit (See also Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38, Acts 22:16 and Col. 2:11-13).

      If baptism is the way the unsaved are brought into Christ, no wonder Christ spoke of being “born of water and spirit.” Baptism is the instrument of new birth according to the New Testament.

      Dear Romans;

      Hope you didn't get that idea from what I wrote,..but, Jesus Himself said you must be born again to enter the kingdom of God, so therefore it is a must,..and not all church-goers really believe or take it seriously, some continue to live in any and every sin and don't do anything to repent their lives and follow Jesus's teachings.

      This means that many who attend church and even church leaders can be living out a 'religion' without truly following God.

      Jesus Himself said this to the religious leaders of His time on the earth, calling them 'snakes' and 'whitewashed walking graves'. That's pretty direct criticism, and it was because they

      practiced religion without God, without love and by not really knowing Him.

      Some former Catholic church leaders down through history were responsible for ordering the torturous deaths of real true believers in Christ,...just check out the inquisition.

      It's not about the religion, it's about your personal relationship to Jesus. What matters most is your FAITH in God. Know him deeply by reading His word through Bible and you will discern what He really wants you to do.

      from WoGGER. below is the name of a pastor and a church in Norway, Oslo, if that is where you said you were.

      A. M. Aleskjaer, senior pastor of Oslo Kristne Senter, Norway.

      This above in Norway, I copied from a site I just happened to hit on after being on this site, they had something online I read, that seemed Christian enough. Hope you find something good at the church mentioned above, however, look for a faithful to God, born again Catholic too, with whom to share your faith with and study, like I did. It was such a pleasure to know the young man I studied with, and he really taught me a lot about Catholic ways, and explained where they came from. Helped me understanding Catholic ways, even the eucharist, etc. which some Protestants regard as blasphemous, I understand completely how my c. friend explained it, as the body and blood. This is something Jesus said himself, 'eat my body , drink my blood', and after He said this, a great percentage of those following Him , turned away. He didn't go after them and say, hey guys, I was just speaking figuratively, come back, I only meant it symbolically, ...no

      he left it exactly in those words, 'eat my body and drink my blood', and there is a mystery in this, many Protestants believe the same as Catholics re eucharist, and 'becoming one' with Jesus in it, offering your own self up as a living sacrifice with the sacrifice of Jesus that is presented to the Father in the eucharist....this is fairly deep and needs expert explanation, you could hear a Catholic who knows and a Protestant who believes the same about the body and blood, to help you understand it.

      PS On Purgatory;

      In the Catholic bible are books that were not sanctioned as part of the Holy Scriptures by the groups that looked at them all and decided on that. All the books in the Protestant bible were sanctioned and agreed upon. The Catholic church originally included those extra books as the same as the other books, while Protestant bibles had them as "reference books only" added at the end of the bible, but the printer made clear they were never considered as Holy scripture.

      Purgatory is mentioned by name in these extra bible books, which were not considered Holy Inspired and included by God. Purgatory is never mentioned by name in the canon (66 books Protestant bible). The extra books in the Catholic bible are never quoted or referred to by any of the canon Protestant agreed upon Holy Scripture books. 66.

      This being said, however, in the Protestant bible, there is a clear and definite reference, from Jesus Himself, to a PLA CE that ISNT HEAVEN NOR HELL. This place was called paradise, by Jesus, but yet it clearly was in the earth, in the center or middle. Jesus said to the thief , 'today you will be with me in paradise', however, we know that Jesus went for three days, following his death on the cross, in the "belly of the earth", the scripture says. Therefore, paradise was a place in the belly of the earth, where Jesus took the thief who believed on him, and this place wasn't heaven, and it wasn't hell.

      Now, remember I am not a Catholic, nor have I looked into ALL their ways, so by saying this I am not endorsing the Catholic church.

      What I am doing is standing up for the Word of God, (my name sign, is WOG-er which means WORD OF GOD-ER, a WOGGER. smile.)

      If Catholics reveal truths of the Word of God, I receive and accept them and say thank you very much. How we see things isn't always the way God sees things. I learned a lot form my Catholic friend about my own Christian faith. Next I want to study all about the Peter debate between Cathies and Protties, whether or not Peter was the bishop, and if the descent of authority belief of the Catholics is accurate and proven.

      PS about priests forgiving sins in confession, YES THEY CAN, based on scripture, yes it is in the bible, Jesus breathed on the apostles and said, Receive the Holy Spirit. Whoever's sins you forgive, they are forgiven, and whoever's sin you do not forgive, they are not forgiven. bible quote, google for reference, I have to go now, bye, with love from WOGGER

      Dear Catholic friend above -first one to write on this page;

      I am the last to write to you, however, I may have illuminating info. for you. 1. Not all Catholics are real Christians. 2. Some Catholics seem to be real Christians. 3. Catholic ways were originally based on true scripture, however, there are also some errors mixed in with the Truth. 4. I am Protestant and until recently had never met a real born again faith committed true Catholic. 5. I met one, and after a year of studying their beliefs and catechism and other writings with them, I had to change my mind completely on Catholics. 6. I still don't know how od sees the Catholic church, whether He avoids the errors and looks for the good and those who love Him in this organization. 7. Catholic church has some awful things in its history, some terrible actions against true Christians, and sad things done and said by its leaders. 8. That being said, I discovered while studying with my Catholic faithful to God friend, that things like baby baptism, asking the saints including Mary for their prayers to God, and some other things that we Protestants dislike and think are sacriligeous, are based on scripture.

      9. Asking Mary and the saints for their prayers for us, is based on scripture in the book of Revelation where the saints bring the prayers of us on earth before the Father, as incense. Also Mary, Jesus' earthly mother, convinced Him to start His ministry on earth at the wedding, even though it wasn't exactly the time, because she was His mother, He agreed to help those she asked him to, simply because, I assume, she was His mother. This is where the Catholic tradition of asking Mary in heaven for her prayers, comes from.10. Baby baptism, there is scriptural precedence for this. Catholics believe babies receive their new spiritual birth, getting born again, when they are baptized as infants, or whatever age they are baptized, but usually infants. Scripture shows that infants and toddlers as well as all the other members of a family, including servants, and extended family members were all "baptized into Christ together, when the whole family believed". This is called household salvation, by the bible. This is where the Catholic idea of infant baptism comes from. Also, Jesus said in His teachings, "Let the little children come unto me, for THEIRS IS THE KINGDOM OF GOD. This He said with infants in his arms, while blessing them. So, this means that the kingdom of God is as much belonging to infants as it does to adults when they get born again and enter it. Baptising an infant INTO Christ, is the BEST thing parents can do for their child, they also promise to raise him in the fear of God, teaching him in the faith. The church has a follow up step, where the child receives instruction at the age of accountability, around age 8, where he learns the catechism and with his own will receives the Holy Spirit with anointing of oil at confirmation. This is how the Catholic church system is set up. There is a scriptural basis for it.

      This doesn't mean that everything the Catholic church says can be proven and found in scripture. For example, the assumption of Mary is not found in the bible nor in any historical document. It is never mentioned by anyone in the NT church, nor in any extra bible readings.

      The Catholic church also holds the teachings of the Catholic church on par and with equal authority as the Holy Scriptures themselves. Yet only the Word of God says about itself that it is inspired by God and therefore without error, and the scriptures never present the guidance of those steering the church as without error.

      I was raised in a Catholic family and I am a born again Christian. To be born again means to be renewed in spirit or have a new life with Christ. The old you has died and a new you has risen as you ACCEPT Christ as your Lord and Savior.

      Religion has nothing to do with it. You can still say your religion is Catholic yet be Born Again :)

      What matters is the moment you accept Christ in your life you repent your ways and work on following His example. You don't have to be confused regarding religion. What matters is you grow spiritually:

      1. Read and meditate on God's word

      2. Pray with your heart

      3. Be kind not because you expect to a place in heaven but because you are a citizen of heaven -- a child of God.

      4. Submit to His will rather than your own

      5. even with all the not so good comments I see here just understand and believe God has given you the grace to do so--the same way He will ensure you will be understood...

      You are blessed! ^_^ You hear God's call and you responded...

      Being baptized in water to be born again suggests works instead of believing with faith and being baptized of the Holy Spirit. The water baptism is supposed to be testimony of what has taken place. By your words, then what would you say to a person who asks Jesus in and is dying and passes away soon after, before that one can be baptized in the water? Would you say "sorry you do not meet the qualification and you are still lost"? To be born again is to be baptized for sure, but baptism of the Holy Spirit.

      I am certain born again Christians totally mis understand what it is to be born again in that they think to accept Jesus as your personal Lord and savior means to be born again.

      When Jesus was talking to Nicodemus and explaining to him about born again he never said about accepting Jesus as his personal Lord and savior but he talked about baptism in that a few lines later he was baptizing with water.

      Also during the ascension he said to baptize in the name of the Father Son and the Holy Spirit.

      So to be born again is to baptize.

      We Christians should not indulge in this kind of debates, in which we are going to hurt one another by merely defending our faith. Do not entertain this, for whosoever knows the truth, lives by the truth. And we all know that majority of the Catholics are just victims of the past that do not even know the wickedness that lies in their doctrines. We are called to spread the news, not to engage in dabate. That is what paul said to titus and timothy.

      @hope..if you truly accepted JESUS CHRIST and let him dwell in your heart and you live by faith and not by sight..for sure you will understand what truly born again means...it's is you being a new creation ,the old is gone the new has come which means you created a personal relationship with GOD. its so easy to say we accepted Christ yet so hard to prove it .if you really read the word of GOD, you will know for sure that there are so many catholic practices that are against the word of GOD..it is not that we judged them but it is because the bible sets the standard for us to communicate with GOD .the only way for us to know GOD personally is thru his words. i'd been a catholic before and in fact most of us here, but Im forever grateful that GOD freed me from deception and no longer do I walk in the darkness but in the light. its a matter of humbling ourselves before GOD ask him to forgive us and accept JESUS CHRIST as our personal LORD and savior and he will surely change you beyond your ability to change yourself. Only JESUS CHRIST died for your sin and got resurrected for us to be able to get a chance to be wit him and h his FATHER for all eternity. not mary nor any saints had done that so let us give all the credits and praises to JESUS for he is the one who suffered tremendous death that he didn't deserve yet chose to do so just for us to have eternal life..it was also stated in the bible not to be equally yoked with unbelievers so that is one of the reasons why his family wants him to have someone who shares the same faith with him .GOD bless you and hope you will realize soon that born again is not a religion but a relationship with the one who died your sins,for my sins and for the sins of all humanity.being born again means you died for Christ and live by spirit making you a new creation. a new creation justified by the work of the holy spirit in your life..:-)

      Hope, you say you have had relationship with God from the very beginning? Are you talking about from the start of your existence or the beginning since asking Jesus in? There is only one way to have a relationship with Jesus and it is not a person's beginning of life. You must ask in faith, believing He will enter your heart (soul). If you have done this your testimony of that experience is what you share.

      Duane, if being born again does not make sense to you read God's word the Holy Bible.

      Jesus said in; John 3:3, ‘Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God”.

      If Jesus' own words do not make sense to you how can anyone believe you are a true believer in and of Jesus?

      Duane, you will one day be judged for the judgement you spoke. The way you talk should show your obedience to first God and than to the innocence of God's child who is seeking truth.

      CATHOLIC TRADITION - Call priests father, e.g., Father McKinley.

      WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS -

      Matthew 23:9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

      * * * *

      CATHOLIC TRADITION - Forbidding the priesthood to marry.

      WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS -

      1) It is devilish to forbid God's people to marry when He has given marriage to be received with thanksgiving.

      1 Timothy

      4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

      4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

      4:3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

      2) Peter was married (remember the pope is supposedly continuing the apostolic line through Peter).

      Matthew

      8:14 And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever.

      Mark

      1:30 But Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever, and anon they tell him of her.

      Luke

      4:38 And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her.

      3) Paul, a great apostle, remained single; however he made it very clear that he could marry if he wanted to.

      1 Corinthians

      9:5 Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?

      * * * *

      CATHOLIC TRADITION - Mary never had other children after the Lord Jesus. A perpetual virgin.

      WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - Mary and Joseph indeed had children. They were the Lord's half brothers and sisters for their father was Joseph and mother was Mary.

      Matthew

      13:55 Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?

      13:56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?

      Mark

      6:3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.

      * * * *

      CATHOLIC TRADITION - Mary is the queen of heaven.

      WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - Worshipping the queen of heaven (which is not the Mary of the Bible) is worshipping another god and it provokes the Lord to anger.

      Jeremiah

      7:17 Seest thou not what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?

      7:18 The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.

      7:19 Do they provoke me to anger? saith the LORD: do they not provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces?

      * * * *

      CATHOLIC TRADITION - Mary is the mother of God.

      WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - Mary is the mother of the earthly Jesus, not God. Jesus pre- existed from everlasting as God (see John 1:1). When He came to redeem mankind, He laid aside His glory and was made like unto sinful man so that He could take our punishment (Hebrew 2:9). God has no mother. He has lived from everlasting which means He had no beginning.

      Isaiah

      43:10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. [If Mary gave birth to God, she'd be God.]

      Psalm

      93:2 Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting.

      Micah

      5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler [Jesus] in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

      Philippians

      2:6 Who [Jesus], being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

      2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

      * * * *

      CATHOLIC TRADITION - Pope called Holy Father.

      WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - The term Holy Father is only found one time in the entire Bible. It was when Jesus prayed before He and His disciples went to the garden of Gethsemane. He referred to God the Father as Holy Father. It is blasphemy to call a man by God's name

      John

      17:11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

      * * * *

      CATHOLIC TRADITION - Purgatory, nuns, popes.

      WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - None of these is mentioned in the Bible. It is a sin to add to the Bible.

      Proverbs

      30:6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

      The pope is a man who takes upon himself honor which belongs to no human being. Even the very name by which he allows himself to be called (Holy Father) is highly presumptuous and blasphemous (see above).

      One does not need the pope to determine what God's will is. The Bible says that God has given the Holy Ghost to each believer and that He (the Holy Ghost) guides and leads us into all truth. All a believer needs is the Bible and the Holy Ghost to know the will of the Lord. Popery has been treacherous, but worse, each pope has been the blind leading the blind. Jesus said that both will fall into the ditch. Catholics, come out of this system that cannot save and know Jesus for youself, intimate and up-close.

      NOTE: Purgatory is supposedly a place where a person is purified of sins--even popes supposedly go there. The Bible says that Jesus Christ is the one that purifies us of our sins. Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.... When a person dies their eternal home is sealed--heaven or hell--no in between. Hebrews 9:27 ...it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.

      * * * *

      CATHOLIC TRADITION - Venerating/worshipping images. Pope bows to statues of Mary, people worship the eucharist and have statues/candles in their homes and churches.

      WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - It is idolatry to venerate images. We are not even supposed to make them.

      Exodus

      20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

      20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God...

      * * * *

      CATHOLIC TRADITION - The mass. Through transubstantiation, the wafer/host and the wine supposedly become the actual blood and body of Jesus Christ when the priest prays over them.

      WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - Jesus died once for sins, never to be repeated. He sits on the right hand of God and does not reappear in the mass as a mass of blood and flesh.

      Hebrews

      10:12 But this man [Jesus], after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

      10:13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.

      10:14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

      10:15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,

      10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;

      10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

      10:18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.

      John

      19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

      1 Corinthians

      11:24 And when he [Jesus] had given thanks, he brake it [bread], and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

      11:25 After the same man

      @Dominic:

      No one is forcing you to believe us, even GOD gave us free will but every choice comes with eternal consequence. If you are really fighting for your catholic beliefs then there is nothing much we can do but pray that someday GOD will give you wisdom to know the truth before its too late coz if it happens don't blame us coz we had one our duty as a Christian to enlighten you. More than defending your Religion ,I believe there is greater purpose why you're Here. You just have to open your heart and mind and give the truth a chance to penetrate your heart..I just wanna remind you again that almost all of us here are catholic before we found wisdom from humility and Obedience. My entire family was Catholic, I had a very mean father who just sit and wait for my mom to come and see if my mom was able to sell those carved images of mary because he was too addicted to alcohol and gambling. He even hurt my mother incase she goes home with nothing sold. We had a very miserable life, we could hardly eat. Until one day my sister went home and brought us the good news,she said GOD loves us and wont abandon us,that is where we started to know who GOD really is,my sisters started to attend bible studies church services and praise and worship .almost all of us now are sharing the same faith .I remember this one mean mother of our friend who tried to burn her daughters legs,tied,cursed and humiliated her just because she wanted to change for the better.where is the love for these these people who try to persecute someone for no longer following their religion?just a pure hatred and evil acts!

      but since we became a christian,we now knew what is right and wrong in the eyes of GOD(not from the corrupted interpretation of human of what is right and wrong).we became more loving,respectful and considerate with others,we learn to thank GOD for all the blessings and we learned to pray to him directly and no longer need a priest to confess our sins. We burnt all those carved idols .our catholic neighbors would curse us and told us that we would suffer the Consequences. .well, as expected,its the other way around! we were more blessed and GODs wrath was no longer with us coz all our eyes were centered on him alone

      as i Quote "Exodus 20:4-5 says, “You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God...” Notice that God is jealous when someone gives to another something that rightly belongs to Him.

      GOD is alive so he needs to be worshipped in spirit and in truth. H e is not made of wood and he alone deserves our worship and not those numerous saints that were carved in all the walls of catholic Churches. we cant force you to believe us but we just want to encourage to start seeking the truth for the truth will set you free.many were destructed due to deception already so we're not willing to risk our entire family and loved ones to suffer from eternal consequences of ignorance and hardheadedness . For us,the biggest gift that we ever received are not those material things or success that we might have right now for they are all Temporary .The biggest gift that we received is the gift of knowing JESUS CHRIST as our personal lord and savior and that free gift of Salvation. That is something that no one can snatch away from us.GOD bless everyone:-)

      Catholics (including my self, before i left the biggest cult) claim that the apostles were catholics. Sorry but they were all Jews and if they were, they should have practiced/believed the following:

      -purgatory

      -mary worship/adoration

      -infant baptism

      -saint worship/adoration

      -sacraments

      -obedience to the pope is necessary for salvation

      -good works to obtain salvation

      -penance, meaning you can basically bribe G_D for salvation

      -idol worship. Including Sinulog(Where people dance and get drunk in the island of Cebu.) senyor sto. nino, hundred of version of the catholic mary and the thousand demi gods they call saints.

      But none, not one did they practice or even taught.

      Catholics claim that St. Peter(petros) is the rock of the church, while Christians believe that Jesus(petra) is the rock upon the church will be build. Meaning the Catholic religion or teaching is not the same as the one Jesus taught.

      All Churches under Catholic Fold claim that Marry is the Mother of God. OK do they mean Marry is the mother of Father, Son and Holy Spirit ? because our God has three personalities. Also do they not read Jesus dint prefer to go and see Marry and her kids by saying ' My mother and brothers are those who hear God,s Word and put it into practice; Luke 8:19,20,21 also at Cana in wedding John 2:4,5 . Many people change the zest of Holy Bible Revelation 22: 18,19,20, and 21 Amen

      Oh Dominic, you do not understand the church is not the building in which we meet to hear His word. The one true church of Christ the Lord is in the hearts of God's people (the believers) that He has called to salvation by the Holy Spirit.

      Jesus is our salvation because He gave His life for us. And we cannot be born again without Jesus nor can we go to the Father without going through Jesus.

      Gary, when we are born into this world we belong to it, we are born in flesh and blood. We also have a soul and spirit. But when we connect with God's Spirit that's when we are born again, by asking Jesus to come into our hearts He makes us new creations, the old is gone and the new one begins. We don't belong to this earth anymore but are heaven bound. He pours His love into our hearts and you begin to know what real love is. So it means born from the spirit not from the flesh! Adam is our earthly father but now God is Our Heavenly Father, we have connected!

      Isn’t it odd that if Baptists and evangelicals are correct that their “born again experience” is the true and ONLY means of salvation, the term “born again” is only mentioned three times in the King James Bible? If “making a decision for Christ” is the only means of salvation, why doesn’t God mention it more often in his Word? Why only THREE times? Isn’t that REALLY, REALLY odd?

      Why is it that the Apostle Paul, the author of much of the New Testament, NEVER uses this term? Why is this term never used in the Book of Acts to describe the many mentioned Christian conversions? Why is this term only used by Jesus in a late night conversation with Nicodemus, and by Peter once in just one letter to Christians in Asia Minor?

      If you attend a Baptist/evangelical worship service what will you hear? You will hear this: “You must be born again: you must make a decision for Christ. You must ask Jesus into your heart. You must pray to God and ask him to forgive you of your sins, come into your heart, and be your Lord and Savior (the Sinner’s Prayer). You must be an older child or adult who has the mental capacity to make a decision to believe, to make a decision to repent, and to make a decision to ask Jesus into your heart.”

      It is very strange, however, that other than “you must be born again” none of this terminology is anywhere to be found in the Bible! Why do Baptists and evangelicals use this non-biblical terminology when discussing salvation?

      Maybe "accepting Christ into your heart" is NOT what being born again really means. Maybe…making a “decision” for Christ is NOT how God saves sinners!

      San Augustine said, "Credo ut intelligam". It means, "Let me believe so that I may understand.". There can only be one church of God, and it should be traceable back from the existence of Jesus Christ. It should be Biblical and documented outside the bible. Now if you belong to church that does not support any history way back from Jesus Christ, and only founded in early years by someone who self-proclaimed they was guided by holy spirit, then think again. You might want to review the basis of your religion.

Both references provide the scriptural basis of Roman Catholicism, which I believe is the most scriptural form of Christianity.

      I am born again and i am the messenger the true Christian is not worshipped the images and the false Christian are worshipped the images like Roman catholics for those who read this you will understand this

      read the Bible in (Revelation 13:15-18)

      15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

      16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

      17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

      18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

      (Revelation 14:19-11)

      9 Then a third angel followed them, shouting, “Anyone who worships the beast and his statue or who accepts his mark on the forehead or on the hand 10 must drink the wine of God’s anger. It has been poured full strength into God’s cup of wrath. And they will be tormented with fire and burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and the Lamb. 11 The smoke of their torment will rise forever and ever, and they will have no relief day or night, for they have worshiped the beast and his statue and have accepted the mark of his name.”

      and read the Bible and what is being a true Christian is not worshiped his images in (Revelation 20:4)

      Then I saw thrones, and the people sitting on them had been given the authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their testimony about Jesus and for proclaiming the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his statue, nor accepted his mark on their forehead or their hands. They all came to life again, and they reigned with Christ for a thousand years.

      the true belief of being religion is born again

      and in (JOHN 3:1-7) SAYS;

      Jesus Teaches Nicodemus

      3 Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. 2 He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.”

      3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”

      4 “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”

      5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit[b] gives birth to spirit. 7 You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’

      (1 PETER 1:3-9)

      Born Again to a Living Hope

      3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 5 who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 8 Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, 9 obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

      and (1 PETER 1:23) says;

      23 Being born again , not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

      (and that is the true religion of being Born Again and this is the way for eternal life.)

      Here is a simple logic to your sentence:

      "Increase in knowledge and many people will get deceived that

      will lead to destruction"

      So to understand this first, there should be a deceiver and one that will be deceived, right? The one that will be deceived should be the one that existed first. So this means the deceiver is just a mere copier or just the other one that existed after time. Now, which one existed first? Well, I guess you don't know because you are one sided bible-based religion. Don't claim that your religion existed first or, you are just bringing back the old school style of praying. Bible + History Research + Faith + Vast Amount of Logic are the key to this never ending argument. Again, don't JUST read the bible to understand it. It is a very mysterious book. Always remember, some things are just "designed" in a way that is very attractive and looking great for people to follow and make it as a "milking cow". I can name to you a number of religions which name is based on a literal bible word who has the same teachings as your as they only based it on what they have read in Bible. Mostly, the founders did not know the history of Christianity/Catholicism so it ended up similar with the "new ones" teachings. Nevertheless, good to know you are closer to God now.

      To those who are confused, read "Surprised by Truth" by Patrick Mardrid. You'll definitely be surprised!

      Thanks to this blog, it was worth sharing my faith.

      @James,

      Well said. Your words are directly implying to what you are into now, "Increase in knowledge and many people will get deceived that will lead to destruction". Please understand the logic behind that sentence. Have you ever thought what you are into now? I believe you are one that has been deceived by others. I can tell that it is really deceiving because they are using the words from the bible. If you don't strengthen your faith and knowledge about the history and bible, you'll end up jumping into another religion and beliefs. People are just making thing a lot more difficult for us to be united and very "desctructive" (as what you said) to our beliefs. This has brought destruction and confusion to Catholicism. You can be closer to God in many ways but not jumping into another religion which brought destruction to us. I am not focusing religion here. In the first place it was your fault why you we're not closer to God, it was your faith that was weak. How come we have strong faith? Because we bother and learn our doctrines. Am I not right? I won't be surprised if you'll end up jumping into another religion. RC has been there before and will stay as is.

      believe what you believe but sorry we already opened our eyes and heart to the reality and we will never be deceived again!!it is not your human knowledge and interpretation that matters most,it's what the bible said thru the guidance of the holy spirit..even in the bible it was stated that there is increase knowledge and many people will get deceived that will lead to destruction...but sorry we don't base our faith in religion,we basedour faith in our personal relationship with christ and we will never ever rely on human wisdom nor religion,we merely believed in christ thru his words that came to flesh and that is the bible..we are already on the winning side as we humbled ourselves and asked GOD to guide us to seek the truth and the truth indeed set us free and we thank GOD for his grace and devine wisdom..there are millions of religions in this word yet there is only one real GOD that reign and hold the truth and key for salvation...

      Manola Flora, you do not have to read it in bible to know that it is Roman Catholic. Bible is not an encyclopedia. Let's trace our religion's history so that we can find out which religion has the right to use and interpret the bible. Roman Catholic is the only religion that can be traced from the existence of Jesus Christ. You can interpret the bible on your own and understand it on whatever you want. You can find thousands of words from it and create your own religion. Anybody can start a religion from their own understanding from it. Some others does it for business sake. Don't just read, but also apply some reflection and analysis to it and its history. Lets not use it like a dictionary that we can easily understand the meaning by reading it. SOrry

      I guarantee you, you will be surprised if you'll read the book "Surprised by Truth" by Patrick Mardrid. A lot of people from other religion shared their story why they went back to Roman Catholic. One is a couple of born again missionaries who were sent to convert Roman Catholic people but they eneded up converted to Roman Catholic. What did they know that you don't? You will be "Surprised by Truth". Also, the "Born Again" word does not literally mean that you have to create a religion named "Born Again" and be part of it. When you were born and received the sacrament of Baptism, that was it. You just need to strengthen your relationship with God. :)

      If you are confused, go to Roman Catholic church for enlightenment or better yet, read the book entitle "Surprised by Truth" by Patrick Madrid. The reason behind this confusion of yours is that you do not fully understand what you are into (Roman Catholic). Changing religion to which was only founded by some people who interpreted the Bible on their own is not the answer of this issue of yours. Bible was created for Roman Catholic religion, for correct interpretation ask from them. Learn your current religion first before deciding. You will see that Jesus never create Roman Catholic which he entrusted to St. Paul just to be recreated after time, century or era.

      I am a born-again Christian. I accepted the Lord Jesus as my personal Lord and my personal savior. Religion doesnt save me. Good works will not save me. I am saved by GRACE THROUGH FAITH ALONE of Jesus. All good things are the result of my salvation.

      To all the "born agains" I have this question. Catholic Christians have been there since the birth of christian religion, and they have been there even before the era of born again groups, which I like to refer to as new generation Christians. My question is will all those who died but believed in the teaching of the catholic church not enter Heaven because they did not get "born again" as per your teaching?

      Jesus Teaches Nicodemus

      1 Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish ruling council. 2 He came to Jesus at night and said, "Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miraculous signs you are doing if God were not with him." 3 In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again. " 4 "How can a man be born when he is old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb to be born!" 5 Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7 You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again.'JOHN 3:1-7 (NEW INTERNATIONAL VERSION)

      1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest , except God be with him. 3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born ? 5 Jesus answered , Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

      JOHN 3:1-7 (KING JAMES VERSION)

      1 After dark one evening, a Jewish religious leader named Nicodemus, a Pharisee, 2 came to speak with Jesus. "Teacher," he said, "we all know that God has sent you to teach us. Your miraculous signs are proof enough that God is with you." 3 Jesus replied, "I assure you, unless you are born again, you can never see the Kingdom of God." 4 "What do you mean?" exclaimed Nicodemus. "How can an old man go back into his mother's womb and be born again?" 5 Jesus replied, "The truth is, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. 6 Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives new life from heaven. 7 So don't be surprised at my statement that you must be born again.JOHN 3:1-7 (NEW LIVING TRANSLATION)

      Pls read Act 1, 14-15

      Pls read Act 11, 26

      Pls read Act 28, 17

      Pls read Eph 4, 11

      Roman Catholic came after Act 28, 17 when Paul was sent to Rome.

      But Christians were called much before Act 11, 26.

      To the girl that wrote about the Catholic Church. I dont know if you go to Catholic school or attend CCD classes but someone is failing you in your religious instructions. You are Roman Catholic and this "reborn again" crap is nonesense. As a Roman Catholic you have a relationship with Jesus and God and believe me the God we know hears our prayers. Prayers such as the hail Mary is asking for intercession on her part to her son. Sort of asking your Mom to ask your Dad for something -knowing she has more influence than you . After all what good son doesnt listen to his mother? Do not pay attention to these off beat cults that proclaim you need to be reborn and that you need to speak in tongues and roll on the floor. I agree with Duane it is a money making racket. If you dont understand your religion go to your religious instructor at school or CCD classes and they will be more than glad to explan things to you .

      I think it is not about the religion..but it is about how one's will be saved.. Remember God created the world, so pray to God, repent and ask forgiveness to God, through HIS son Lord Jesus Christ and nothing else..

      Christian = means "CHRIST I And Nothing"

      If you are a Catholic Christian deepen your faith and continue to study your religion and if you are a born again Christian be in your group and don't brainwash other members of other religions. We Catholics are not used to brainwash other religions because we believe that being children of God, we deepen our faith in Him and live according to His values.

      I’ve been searching for Born Again Christian Artists who became successful in their careers because they made God the center of their lives. I am going to use the story of their lives as examples to encourage the Youth of our Church to keep on dreaming and acknowledge God and the Son Jesus Christ in all their ways, hold on to their faith and do things that are according to the will of God (those that are written in the bible), then success will surely follow. I suddenly got to this forum. I’ve been captured by the topic: “Difference between Born Again Christians and Roman Catholics”. I have read the comments and quite disappointed on some part that one have to argue with the other. I just want to want to impart my side and my experience as well.

      Difference between Born Again Christians and Catholics; I want to tell the similarities.  No matter what our religion is, WE ARE ALL SINNERS (Romans 3:10, No One is Righteous, not even one) Read LUKE 18:10-14. It’s a story about a Pharisee and a tax collector. We both believe in the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. (Holy Trinity) We both take communion during Sunday Service/Mass. Catholic and Born Again are Christians. For Christian means “believer of Christ” so you could both claim that you are Christian because both believe in Jesus Christ.

      I am also a born Catholic and am still Catholic “by paper”. I will not say anything bad about how the Catholics exercise their Faith for my whole Family are Catholic (except me, my sister and my cousin). I always attend Sunday Mass when I was still a Catholic. But just like Hazel, I felt unsatisfied. I want to give more praises to God, and worship Him on higher level. Sunday Mass has become a routine for me. No more personal connection to Jesus and The Father, I can no longer feel the Holy Spirit. I felt like I’m not GROWING SPIRITUALLY. One Night, when I prayed, I broke my prayer Routine. Instead of “reciting” Our Father… and Hail Mary… I prayed with my own words coming from my heart, I had a conversation with God through Jesus Christ. There, in the middle of my prayer, words stop coming out of my mouth. I just cried. In my confusion, I seek the Holy Bible to find answers to my questions and clear my doubts. I meditate on the most popular verse; John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that who so ever believe in HIM shall not perish but have everlasting life”. I felt guilty. God has given His Son Jesus Christ to suffer and die on the Cross for us. So I realized that Jesus should be the center of my life. I acknowledge and honor “Mother Mary” for she is the mother of Jesus. But Catholics, let us admit that sometimes if not always, that some of us if not all, tend to give more devotions for Mary than Jesus. The praise and worship time is always divided to Jesus, Mary and the so many Saints… I know you also realize these things. I am not against any of Catholic devotions/traditions for I have done that once in my life. As what the others are saying in this loop, RELIGION CAN’T SAVE US. It’s a matter of our PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP with God through the Son Jesus Christ. I’ve been BORN AGAIN by admitting that I am a sinner and repent from that sin followed by Accepting Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Regardless of religion, Salvation is being offered by the Father for those who will walk according to His Will and not by our own. (In all your ways acknowledge HIM and He will make your paths straight. –proverbs 3:6)

      Now, I’m still praying for my family to have deeper and personal relationship with God, more than what they’ve been used to.

      We have different testimonies on how God worked in our lives. As we share it to others, let us offer it to God and that His name be glorified through our lives.

      When we are confused, seek the bible. For man has limited knowledge. We have contradicting ideas and beliefs. No one is greater than the other or One is righteous than the other. As much as possible, let us not argue about religions for God hates that. And use God’s words accordingly. Let us try to practice living a life with God as the Center and acknowledge what Jesus did for us. Through this life’s Journey, may the Holy Spirit guide us. ^_^

      God Bless!

      taga sara,

      im so happy that you learned many thing here,and you opened your mind which is the beginning of your real spiritual journey..manola,jezel and other christians here never wanted to have an argument because that is not what GOD wanted us to do..he wants us to share the good news of faith and salvation..however sad to say many people here are blinded by their religions...we are just following GOD and not any made traditions and we are here to stand with our faith..you honestly don't need to call all the priest rather call GOD to let the holy spirit guide you and find the truth...we need GOD more than anything else because us that i repeatedly kept on saying..at the end of the day when we leave our last breath here and face the creator...no other superhuman or man traditions would be there to defend us,its between us and out creator and how we leave our lives based on his commands and his words..GOD offers his free gift of salvation by accepting christ jesus as our personal lord and savior..its so easy to do and its free..however most of us are blinded by our pride and our beliefs..its so sad but let us open our mind heart and soul before its too late..read the bible,pray for the guidance and look for friends who solely rely his/her faith on the GODs words thru his bible and you will know the real difference if you experience the fruits of the holy spirit..

I am calling now to all the priest..please help us..We want to understand more in bible..Please from monday to saturday please conduct bible study ..because we need to defend against born again..Because we need to help others..we need to glorify Jesus Christ..We need to share the gospel appropriately. Lastly I thank HAZEL who initiated the arguments..because of you I opened my eyes..Hallelluiah!!!To God be ALL the glory and praises..Godd bless us All.

      Hi guys,

      I'm quite honestly marveled on what is going on around this page. Seems like all you people are telling that all of you are right. I don't want to say anything about what is wrong or what is right. But we must all agree that to settle this issues, we don't need personal opinions but rather the opinion of our common denominator - which is the Bible. We all know that the Holy Bible is the most authoritative diction we all have to know the real truth behind all these confusions.

      So, the questions is who will be saved come judgment day?

      Of course, if we look at the Scriptures, those who diligently obey and follow God's commands.

      What are His commands?

      Matt. 22:37-39,(1) Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind...(2)Love your neighbor as yourself..

      What are the requirements that must be met in order to enter the Kingdon of God?

      Acts 16:31 "...Believe in the Lord Jesus, you and your household will be saved."

      Believing is not just to know of Him but it is knowing Him and having a personal relationship with Jesus.

      Eph. 2:8 - "For it is by grace that we are saved, not by good works lest any man should boast..."

      remember in Matt. 7:21, Jesus reminded and warned us that only those who follow God the Father's will will be saved.

      What is the Father's will then?

      John 3:16 clearly says it all.

      In James 2:17, if we say that we have faith, then your faith must produce good works. If you're telling me that you received Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, then 2 Cor. 5:17 should manifest.

      God hates the hypocrites, you all know that.

      We born-again Christians are disciples of our Lord Jesus. We are mandated by Christ himself in Matt. 28:19 to go and make disciples.

      Our purpose is to love God above all and to love people. Jesus hates religion. If religion is enough then He should not come into the world but it isn't the case. Religion will never be the standard of God. His standard is that everyone must REPENT and be baptized, accept Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour.

      John 1:12, to those who received him, He gave them the right to become children of God.
