What is the [ true] Church?

Updated on February 24, 2018

What is the "church"?

What is the “church”?

188 denominations? 1,650? 33,000? 35,496? 47,000? (All these numbers are floating around the World Wide Web.) No one knows the total number of “churches” or “denominations” because there are just too many to count or keep up with. Which “church” is the Church?

There are thousands of different “gospels”. Countless men and women with disagreements on countless points of “doctrine”. More concepts of Elohim (G-d) than there are square miles on this planet.

There MUST be a “church” somewhere on this planet composed of those who REALLY DO what YeHoVaH decrees in the Torah, the Tanak, the Writings, and the ha-Berit ha-Chadashah (New Testament). Where is this “church”? TRUE servants, the TRUE “church” are those who faithfully and fully proclaim what should be paid attention to … YeHoVaH’s Torah, YeHoVaH’s Tanak, YeHoVaH’s Writings, YeHoVaH’s ha-Berit ha-Chadashah.

Yochanan (John) 8:31-32--”So Yeshua said to those Yehudim who believed Him, ‘If you stay in My Word, you are truly My taught ones, and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.’” (TS2009)

Yochanan (John) 14:6--”Yeshua said to him, ‘I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’” (TS2009) [Ani ha-derekh ve ha-emet ve ha-chaim.]

The greatest fallacy being taught AND bought ...

The greatest fallacy being taught AND bought … “Our ‘church’ has a monopoly on truth!”

The Church, rather those who are the assembly of Yisra’el, those natural born and those grafted in will follow truth and Truth (Yeshua ha-Meshiach), not man-made “churches” or “denominations”.

Shemot (Exodus) 12:49--”There is one Torah for the native-born and for the stranger who sojourns among you.” (TS2009)

Vayyiqra (Leviticus) 19:34--”Let the stranger who dwells among you be to you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself. For you were strangers in the land of Mitsrayim. I am YeHoVaH your Elohim.” (TS2009)

Vayyiqra (Leviticus) 24:22--”You are to have one right-ruling, for the stranger and for the native, for I am YeHoVaH your Elohim.” (TS2009)

Be leery of becoming comfortable.

And in this convergence of native-born and stranger, there is all too often also a convergence of comfort. If one “goes to church” or becomes a part of the assembly merely to get comfortable or to be comfortable or to be with people with whom there is comfort, he or she has become offensive to the very concept of following or believing the Way and the Truth and the LIfe (Yeshua ha-Meshiach).

Luqas (Luke) 14:26-27, 33--”If anyone comes to Me [Yeshua] and does not hate his father and mother, and wife, and children, and brothers, and sisters, and his own life too, he is unable to be My taught one. And whoever does not bear his stake and come after Me is unable to be My taught one. So, then, everyone of you who does not give up all that he has, is unable to be My taught one.” (TS2009)

Luqas (Luke) 9:62--”But Yeshua said to him, ‘No one, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the reign of Elohim.” (TS2009)

Yochanan (John) 12:24-26--”He who loves his life shall lose it, and he who hates his life in this world shall preserve it for everlasting life. If anyone serve Me, let him follow Me. And where I am, there My servant also shall be. If anyone serves Me, the Father shall value him.” (TS2009)

Pilipiyim (Philippians) 3:7--”But what might have been a gain to me, I have counted as loss, because of ha-Meshiach.” (TS2009)

We are, each one of us, called to put away our creature comforts to stay in the Way and in the Truth and in the Life. We need to “get real” by getting real, and we need to “come out from among them” … Qorintiyim Bet (2 Corinthians) 6:17 says, “Therefore, ‘Come out from among them and be separate, says YeHoVaH, and do not touch what is unclean, and I shall receive you.’” (TS2009) Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 52:11--”Turn aside! Turn aside! Come out from there, touch not the unclean. Come out of her midst, be clean, you who bear the vessels of YeHoVaH.” (TS2009) The Church, rather those who are the assembly of Yisra’el, those natural born and those grafted in will follow truth and Truth (Yeshua ha-Meshiach), arand e commanded to congregate with true believers and followers of Yeshua ha-Meshiach, not man-made “churches” and “denominations”. The Church is to be the assembly of Yisra’el, those native-born and those grafted in, who set their belief, obedience, and trust on YeHoVaH Who gave to us His Son that we might be redeemed and His Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) that we might have help with such belief, obedience, and trust.

Mattityahu (Matthew) 7:13-14--”Enter in through the narrow gate! Because the gate is wide - and the way is broad - that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. Because the gate is narrow and the way is hard pressed which leads to life, and there are few who find it.” (TS2009)

Mattityahu (Matthew) 7:21-23--”Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Master, Master,’ shall enter into the reign of the heavens, but he who is doing the desire of My Father in the heavens. Many shall say to Me in that day, ‘Master, Master, have we not prophesied in Your Name, and cast out demons in Your Name, and done many mighty works in Your Name?’ And then I shall declare to them, ‘I never knew you, depart from Me, you who work lawlessness!’” (TS2009) (Tehillim (Psalms) 6:8--”Depart from me, all you workers of wickedness; for YeHoVaH has heard the voice of my weeping.” (TS2009))

Mattityahu (Matthew) 28:19-20--”Therefore, go and make taught ones of all the nations, immersing them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Set-apart Spirit, teaching them to guard all that I have commanded you. And see, I am with you always, until the end of the age.’ Amein.” (TS2009)

Luqas (Luke) 6:46--”But, why do you call Me ‘Master, Master,’ and do not do what I say?” (TS2009)

Hazon (Revelation) 14:12--”Here is the endurance of the set-apart ones, here are those guarding the commands of Elohim and the belief of Yeshua.” (TS2009)

As YeHoVaH has decreed ...

If one should continue to “water down”, “sugar coat”, or speak half-truths- which are whole lies -such a one shall be considered an offense, an abomination, a lawless being unto YeHoVaH.

Mattityahu (Matthew) 18:6--”But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it is better for him that a millstone be hung around his neck, and that he be drowned in the depths of the sea.” (TS2009)

Luqas (Luke) 17:2--”It would be better for him if a millstone is put around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should cause one of these little ones to stumble.” (TS2009)

Yeshua’s “little flock” (Luqas (Luke) 12:32) and His “little ones” (Mattityahu (Matthew) 18:6 & Luqas (Luke) 17:2) is the Church of Elohim- the Assembly of Elohim - the Assembly of Yisra’el, both those who are native-born and those grafted in.

Never underestimate what YeHoVaH has decreed, decrees now, and has decreed for all time from time beginning!

Hazon (Revelation) 14:12--”Here is the endurance of the set-apart ones, here are those guarding the commands of Elohim and the belief of Yeshua.”

I agree with Tony. The church will act according to His commandments of "love." The church are those people who have accepted Christ as Lord and Savior. If we practice the commandment of love, which is spelled out beautifully by the Apostle Paul, we are the church.

One great modern teacher and true follower of our Lord Jesus Christ, Billy Graham, was an excellent example of not listening to denominational phoniness. I went to see one of his sermons as a child, and he was very inspirational to me. I found out later, even when those around him ostracized his stance, he refused to speak to segregated churches in the South because he said he couldn't support a division that was not of God. He will be missed.

Many people are confused because many role politics into religion to the point that they miss the purpose of the Word, redemption for mankind through the blood of our Lord.

Thank you for a very good article which will help people think about the meaning of the "churhc."

      Sincerely,

      Tim

If you are in Christ then you are the "body of Christ", and that is all that really matters. Each denomination has a tendency to focus on particular doctrines that set them apart from other denominations. Then some denominations have many "sub-denominations".

Each person is responsible for working out their own salvation, the church that they belong to can't do that for them. We should all study for ourselves and reconcile scripture as a whole to what we are being taught from the pulpit. The Word of God is true, but men have a tendency to create their own truths, so to speak.

As far as I am concerned, all who are in Christ belong to the "church" and I'm not convinced that any denomination has a right to claim to be the true church.

      Peace!
