Are you a "Christian" or a Child of God?

Updated on July 10, 2015

When you have a relationship with Jesus, you cannot stay the same. Yes, Jesus accepts you as you are (But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8), but when you look at Jesus, you cannot help but see how deficient you really are, and how great Jesus is.

You may be the most giving, loving person, but unless you can see Jesus clearly, all those loving acts are just that…”acts.” Jesus does not want you to change to show the world what a Christian is, He wants to have a relationship with you so you can show the world who Jesus is. The process of change doesn’t happen because you suddenly act like Jesus; the change is the result of your relationship with Jesus, the Father and the Holy Spirit.

Love Jesus Daily

But thank God, He doesn't ask anything impossible from you. When you learn more about Jesus and love Him, He can help you to be who you need to be....a child of God. "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." Matthew 5:48 "I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me." John 17:23

When Jesus tells us to be perfect, he doesn’t mean for us to behave “perfectly,” but to have Jesus in your life. He explains: I [Jesus] in them, and thou [God] in me [Jesus]--he tells us what we need to know, and tells us how to do it.

You can’t love Jesus, unless you know Him. You can’t know Jesus, unless you pray for the Holy Spirit to help you.

Not You, But the Holy Spirit

Is this impossible for you? Is this something difficult? There are so many promises in the Bible where Jesus assures us that He will take care of us, even how to be like Him—all we have to do is desire Him to be part of our lives.

And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

— Jeremiah 29:13

"But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you." Luke 12:31 "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." Hebrews 12:2

Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith in Him, and the Holy Spirit works in us to perfect us. We don’t know how, we don’t know when, but it happens. It may take a month, it may take a year, but if you are faithful and earnestly praying for healing, you will see your life change. "And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how." Mark 4: 26, 27 "As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all." Ecclesiastes 11:5 "But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:" Ephesians 4:15 "As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:" 1 Peter 2:2 "But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen." 2 Peter 3:18

Are you happy going to church once a week? Does that make you a Christian?
