When Is Religion Taken To Far?

Updated on August 29, 2016

Religion in America

First and foremost our country was founded on God.

With that being said however, our four fathers created

the Declaration of Independence. That all people no

matter their sex, race, age and ect had the same

opportunities. America is known as a melting pot

and the land of the free. With different cultures

and beliefs that America has today, it has created

hatred, discrimination and death from religious groups.

You turn on the tv and read the newspaper about a

group of people or one person who has committed a

crime against a religious affiliation. Mass shootings,

bombings, massive suicides, and homicides are just

a few of the crimes against religion. But, where does

ones beliefs in religion come from? Most of the time

it comes from our family and are upbringing. We

are introduced to religion by our parents, friends,

media and ect. Some people take on the religion

of the family and others seek other religions out.

But, what happens when a child is forced to take

on the parents religion without choice? How does

this affect the child that is not willing to take on the

family's views? Is it ok to force your religion on the

child and make them not have a choice in the

matter? Does it create a monster against that

specific religion or all religions? What is causing

people to kill because of someones religion?

Sounds like your little boy is lucky to have a loving dad like you.

A cool thing about this way is that he seems to think of Jesus as a loving buddy. He is grasping the ethereal but slow as we go. Thanks for this hub reminding me of my responsibility as a dad.

I think that it is great that you expose your child to different denominations and have given him that choice to chose himself.

Interesting. With my 6 year old he is exposed to different denominations. Rules, procedures, dogma and doctrines change. So he knows he must make choices for himself. So far he seems to think that some rituals are cool and other silly.

He is baptized and some churches let him take communion and some do not. I think he likes getting the blessing more. Maybe that will change.
