Where Are We Building?

Updated on January 10, 2015

It amazes me at times how I can look at something that has happened or a work of nature that brings me back to the Word of God; specifically Jesus' teachings.

Yesterday, as we drove up into the mountains near Caguas, Puerto Rico some of the Words of Jesus Christ came to mind.

I don't know if what we saw and had to drive around was the result of one of the many earthquakes that have occurred here in and around the island, or if it was damage that had happened from hurricane Irene and still hasn't been repaired.

I do know that whomever owns this probably wishes they would have built it in a stronger way or in a better location.

First, let me quote the Words of Jesus I speak of and then I will show you some pictures.

From Matthew 7: 24-27: Therefore whosoever hears these sayings of mine, and does them, I will liken him unto a wise man, who built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that hears these sayings of mine, and does them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

My Sympathy

First and foremost, my prayers go out to all the people in this area who were affected by this devastation. I pray that the rebuilding process goes smooth and no one is hurt during it.

May the powers that control the money and ways of fixing this do it properly and that all monies will be handled correctly.

Now, my point:

A Firm Foundation

Living in God is much like construction. The foundation is the key!

The ground must be solid ground. Going to a church or being around people that are "up and down" and living outside of God's Word is not the place for a "baby" Christian.

Jesus is the Rock that our foundation must be built upon. The ground must be tamped and packed by reading the Word of God (The Bible) consistently. We may not understand everything we read but as God wants us to, the understanding will come.

Just like people of construction, it is a very difficult task to build a house alone. We need people of God near us and helping us grow.

No matter what, life is full of difficulties. Wind and rain will come, but if our houses are built completely on Jesus, nothing; absolutely nothing, can blow them down. We may need to fix a broken window or door at times, but the house will stand.

Life's Choices

We all have freewill; God gave us that.

We have the choice to build on sand or on the Rock.

Not long ago, we were on another drive and there was this house that was built on a rock near a river.

I am sure that river has rose many times and winds and such have beat on that house. It still stands. Here is a picture of it:

Your House

Our bodies and souls are just like houses. What kind of earth is yours built on?

Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life!

God wants mansions built on His Son. Not tents built on the evil one.

If you haven't, I urge you to bow your head and ask Jesus Christ to be the Lord of your life. Ask Him to be your Rock; build your house upon Him. It is never too late.

Life won't go perfect, but if you have the Rock holding you, you will stand.

May God bless you and may the storms of life not blow your house down.

Exactly "No matter what, life is full of difficulties. Wind and rain will come, but if our houses are built completely on Jesus, nothing; absolutely nothing, can blow them down."

GOD does defend his children from many things. I can't count the times he has defended me and removed me from harms way but I remind him that I will always call upon him and my will is in his hands.
