Where IS humanity heading?

Updated on April 21, 2013

Life just got cold.Brrrrrr.Or so it seems.I was walking down the street today, contemplating my fate(now I'm quoting Robbie Williams-Where is my sense of shame?) and it hit me-none of us have a clue where we're going. Not in a literal sense obviously-cue bad joke about us all bumping into each other-but in a metaphysical sense.

Alright, so after yea thousand years our Greek philosophers had a crack at discerning the universe which was all very well and good with the Eureka moments and that but didn't answer a terrible amount regarding anything else. And then you've got Rene Descartes with his "I think therefore I am" (No s*** Sherlock ) and all our other philosophic friends who existed around history who, don't get me wrong were probably decent chaps who led wonderful lives yet I don't think I'd still be sane if I went to the hassle of listing and analysing them all.The fact of the matter is they all came out with wonderful enlightening quotes and tried to discover more about the world and how to use it to our advantage(which they were quite successful at) and how to decipher as to why we're here, how we got here and where we're going) which was not as successful.

Of course, you know as well as I do, there are shed loads of theories as to the meaning of life -Monty Python, need I say more, but do we have any concrete proof? atheists talk about their big bangs and Charlie's Evolution theory is rife nowadays. And of course, our religious friends say it's all about faith and thou has to believe so we've got plenty to go on as to why we're here and what we're here for.

But because, there is insufficient proof as to where we came from and what we're doing here(Mohammed could be a farce, Jesus a conspiracy theory and evolution a wicked lie-there is no clear-cut,foolproof evidence of any) we have no idea where we're going. It's nice to think there'll be a messiah and life is about doing good deeds but who knows if that's the case?

Listen-I'm not anti-religious.I don't think billions of lives were created in order to earn a little cash, mess about on Facebook, celebrate a few milestones and then pop their clogs. And whichever way one thinks about it, something must have created the first star, the first galaxy-nothing comes from nowhere. But that doesn't take away from the fact that us humans nowadays have no certain direction at all.Everyone's got a vehicle. But no-one has a route. So do we just wait and live our lives until one comes?

Will one come?

Or will we just adapt and adapt forever?

Or finally die out?

G-d knows what will happen-if he exists.

What do you think the future holds?

Yes a lot of people say that I'm 14 going on 70 and I've wisdom beyond my years.Maybe this is because I've delved into classic literature from a very young age or I've just been blessed with more perception than most.Who knows? Anyhow, thank you so much for your opinion-this means a lot to me.

You look very young in your profile picture but your words seem to be written by an old soul. Excellent thoughts on the fate of mankind. If we all addressed the issue as intently as you, there may be hope. :)
