Which Christ do You Follow?
There are many who do not realize that they have yielded to the doctrine of demons. They have departed from the true faith in Christ by opening themselves up to antichrist influences by following ‘another Jesus.’
But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh PREACHETH ANOTHER JESUS, whom we have not preached, or if YE RECIEVE ANOTHER SPIRIT, which ye have not received, or ANOTHER GOSPEL, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him. – 2 Corinthians 11:3-4
Paul in this verse gave an urgent warning to be vigilant against false teachers who would come to deceive. His warning is a threefold message:
- A false teacher would preach another Jesus.
- Acceptance of the message would lead to receiving another spirit.
- Acceptance of it is embracing another gospel.
During the apostolic ministry of Paul, many received the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. However, it did not take long for many to start accepting false teachings that were contrary to the way of Christ. This opened door for another spirit (antichrist) to manifest among them. Paul was conveying that those who accepted a message that presented 'another Jesus' allowed 'another spirit' to manifest within them. Today, the manifestation is still in full force where many believe in a counterfeit Christ and counterfeit Gospel.
It may be a surprise to you, but there are many teachers preaching 'another Jesus.' These teachers fall into one of two categories. They are either reprobate or in need of conviction from the Holy Spirit to repent of their ways.
Which Christ do You Believe in?
These false teachers represent many counterfeit versions of Christ. For example, there is the social justice Jesus whose goal is to correct the unfairness and bring equality to our society through human effort.
The New Age Jesus is a guru. His Gospel message mixes with esoteric teachings of eastern religions.
There is also a Jesus who continually speaks of emotional love and forgiveness, but excludes repentance and judgement. He is called a Saviour, but never a Judge.
There is a Jesus who is like your own personal Santa Claus who says that all you have to do is believe and you will receive anything that you desire.
These are just a few of many more. It is important to understand that by accepting any one of the many false Jesus’ that are marketed out there will affect your eternal destiny. Paul had an obligation to warn God’s people because it was an imperative message then and still applies today.
The true Gospel brings new birth, new life and victory over sin. It should be celebrated among true believers, but the problem today is the ‘celebration’ ignores the importance of the principles of the Kingdom of God, discipleship and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide us into truth. It would be equivalent to never leaving the party with no opportunity to grow in maturity with the gifts of the Spirit that are meant to be utilized by all the brethren. Many are stuck in this place that negates the work of the Holy Spirit for a religious party atmosphere.
He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall FLOW RIVERS OF LIVING WATER. – John 7:38
The only way to have rivers of living water flowing through us is through continual desire to walk in obedience, righteousness and holiness before God.
And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, AND DO NOT THE THINGS WHICH I SAY? – Luke 6:46
Many people call Christ, 'Lord,' yet he is ‘another Jesus’ that Paul spoke of from the simple fact that they do not obey the Father. They are religious hypocrites and leave themselves open to the indwelling of an antichrist spirit within them that can be confirmed by their actions and behaviours that do not align with the principles of the Kingdom of God.
We have protection from demonic attack through the blood of Christ, but it is on the provision of meeting God’s conditions through His Son.
Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto OBEDIENCE AND THE SPRINKLING OF THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST. Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied. – 1 Peter 1:2
Protection through the blood of Christ comes with an obedient lifestyle; therefore, his blood is not sprinkled on those who continually persist in a lifestyle of sin by not heeding God’s instructions. Those who do not heed the word of God are on the wide road that leads to destruction.
The nation of Israel in the Old Testament were witness to those who did not heed God’s instructions.
And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and STRIKE THE LINTEL AND THE TWO SIDE POSTS WITH BLOOD that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning. – Exodus 12:22
The result of disobedience:
And it came to pass, that at midnight THE LORD SMOTE ALL THE FIRSTBORN IN THE LAND OF EGYPT, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle. And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead. - Exodus 12:29-30
God only protected the firstborn of Israel on the condition that they obeyed His instructions concerning the blood. Today, in similar manner, we are protected by our obedience and the sprinkling of the blood of Christ.
The bloodless Christ is the mark of the counterfeit because the antichrist spirit (another spirit) that many worship does not deal with sin. A bloodless Christ does not set the captives free.
But IF we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of JESUS CHRIST HIS SON CLEANSETH US FROM ALL SIN. – 1 John 1:7
The word 'if' in the verse implies that it must fulfill a condition. 'If' the condition is not fulfilled, then the promise to us becomes void. Walking in the light is an ongoing pattern of obedience that results in being able to have fellowship with God and the cleansing of and victory over our sin through the blood of Christ. It is about a continual walk, continual fellowship and continual obedience being able by the Holy Spirit to walk in a victorious life as Christ did. We can walk righteously before God and be lights in the world.
When we are pressured and tempted by the demonic realm, it is a reminder that we must continue walk in fear and reverence before God. He wants all of our heart, not bits and pieces of it.
There are examples of those in Scripture who defiled themselves greatly. King David committed murder and adultery. If Nathan had not confronted him on his sin, he would probably would have been given over to a reprobate mind and the Holy Spirit would have left him.
Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. RESTORE UNTO ME THE JOY OF THY SALVATION; AND UPHOLD ME WITH THY SPIRIT. – Psalm 51:11-12
The words in this verse have some great meaning and significance. First, David asked God to restore the joy of his salvation. Second, he asked that the Holy Spirit would not depart from him. His words would indicate that although he committed a great sin and defiled himself, the Holy Spirit had not left him quite yet. It would be important to note that God had enough grace for him to convict him of his sin that ultimately led to his repentance.
This example is how God’s works through His Son. He bestows upon us his Father’s mercy and grace so we can become overcomers, but it requires that we take responsibility for our actions. If David continued in disobedience and ignored God’s conviction, the Holy Spirit would have left him. He would then have been devoid of conviction on the road to destruction.
The fact is, we are all capable of such things too, but thank God He uses people in our lives to warn and bring us to conviction by the working of the Holy Spirit in their lives.
For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: ALL THESE EVIL THINGS COME FROM WITHIN, AND DEFILE THE MAN. – Mark 7:21-23
No one can claim that they have not committed at least one of these five sins listed in these verses in their lifetime. Thank God that when we fail Him that if we have a humble repentant heart, He will forgive us and help us get back on the right path having victory not to fall back into them over and over again.
All through the New Testament there is great emphasis on not detracting from the true Gospel. We are all challenged to live a life of obedience separate from the traditions of man and the ways of the world.
Wherefore come out from among them, and BE YE SEPARATE, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you - 2 Corinthians 6:17
My people, GO YE OUT OF THE MIDST OF HER, and deliver ye every man his soul from the fierce anger of the LORD. – Jeremiah 51:45
And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, COME OUT OF HER, MY PEOPLE, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. – Revelation 18:4
The only way that we can cleanse ourselves from the sins that defile us is through the grace of God through Christ. Obedience starts when we take responsibility for our actions.
Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, lLET US CLEANS OURSELVES FROM ALL UNFILTHINESS OF THE FLESH AND SPIRIT perfecting holiness in the fear of God. - 2 Corinthians 7:1
We are to cleanse ourselves. We don’t just sit back and say, ‘I am redeemed’ and do nothing beyond that. It is our responsibility to be diligent and relentless in our pursuit of an uncompromising standard of holiness before God.
Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I FOLLOW AFTER, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. – Philippians 3:12
Satan’s biggest deception is getting people not to acknowledge their sin. He knows that if you continue not to do it, he has got you. We must understand that this is the greatest danger. Many have no victory in their lives because they have no conviction. Their refusal to acknowledge their hedonistic ways exposes their lustful worship of their bloodless Christ no matter how many ways they try to spin their man-made doctrines.
Which Christ do you worship?
The blood of Jesus Christ is only usable for a limited time. It is imperative that you use it.
Have you worshiped the bloodless Christ?
