Which Christ do You Worship?
There are many who do not realize that they have yielded to the influence of demons. They have departed from the true faith in Christ by opening themselves up to demonic influences by worshiping another "Jesus."
But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh PREACHETH ANOTHER JESUS, whom we have not preached, or if YE RECIEVE ANOTHER SPIRIT, which ye have not received, or ANOTHER GOSPEL, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him. – 2 Corinthians 11:3-4
Paul in this verse gives an urgent warning to be vigilant against false teachers who would come to deceive. Paul’s warning is a threefold message:
- A false teacher would preach “another Jesus.”
- Acceptance of the message would lead to receiving “another spirit.”
- Acceptance is embracing “another gospel.”
During the ministry of Paul many received the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, but soon among the ekklesia the people started to accept teaching that was contrary to the teachings of Christ. This was an open door for an unholy demon (another spirit) to enter. Paul was conveying that those who accepted a message that presents another "Jesus” allows a another "spirit” to manifest within them. The result was apostasy in believing another "gospel.”
It may be a surprise you, but there are many teachers preaching another "Jesus." They are either reprobate, or need of conviction from the Holy Spirit to repent of their ways.
Which Christ do You Believe in?
Do you believe in any of these "Jesus’"?
- The social justice Jesus whose goal is to correct the unfairness and bring equality to our society.
- The New Age Jesus who is a guru. His “gospel” message attempts to mix the ideologies of the true Gospel message with esoteric teachings of Buddhism and Hinduism.
- There is a Jesus who continually speaks of emotional love and forgiveness, but excludes repentance and judgement, he is a "savior," but never a judge.
- There is a Jesus who is your own personal Santa Clause who says that all you have to do is believe and you will receive all that you desire.
It is important to understand that by accepting any one of the many false "Jesus’" will affect your eternal destiny. Paul had an obligation to warn God’s people because it was an imperative message then, and still applies to this day.
The true Gospel brings a new birth and a new life. It should be celebrated, but the problem is when there is continual celebration without any discipleship and training. It would be equivalent to never leaving a Birthday party. There would be no opportunity to continue to grow in maturity. Many are stuck in this place, as it does not allow for the continuing work of the Holy Spirit in a new believer.
He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall FLOW RIVERS OF LIVING WATER. – John 7:38
The only way to have rivers of living water flowing through us is through continual obedience, righteousness and holiness before God.
And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, AND DO NOT THE THINGS WHICH I SAY? – Luke 6:46
Many people call Christ Lord, but it is “another Jesus” from the simple fact that they do not obey him. They are hypocrites and leave themselves open to the indwelling of an antichrist spirit in within them.
We have protection from demonic attack through the blood of Christ, but it is on the provision of meeting His conditions.
Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto OBEDIENCE AND THE SPRINKLING OF THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST. Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied. – 1 Peter 1:2
Protection through the blood of Christ comes with an obedient lifestyle; therefore, his blood is not sprinkled on those who continually persist in a lifestyle of disobedience by not heeding God’s instructions. Those who do not heed the words of God are on a road to destruction.
The nation of Israel in the Old Testament were witness to those who did not heed God’s instructions.
And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and STRIKE THE LINTEL AND THE TWO SIDE POSTS WITH BLOOD that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning. – Exodus 12:22
The result of disobedience:
And it came to pass, that at midnight THE LORD SMOTE ALL THE FIRSTBORN IN THE LAND OF EGYPT, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle. And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead. - Exodus 12:29-30
God only protected Israel on the condition that they obeyed His instructions concerning the blood. Today, in the same manner, we are protected by our obedience and the sprinkling of the blood of Christ.
The bloodless "Jesus" is the mark of the counterfeit ("another Jesus") because the antichrist spirit ("another spirit") does not deal with sin.
But IF we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of JESUS CHRIST HIS SON CLEANSETH US FROM ALL SIN. – 1 John 1:7
The word “if” in the above verse implies that it must fulfill a condition. “If” the condition is not fulfilled, then the promise to us in the verse becomes void. Walking in the light is an ongoing pattern of obedience that results in fellowship with Christ and the cleansing of our sin with his blood. It is a continual walk, continual fellowship and continual obedience resulting in his blood continually cleansing us.
The true Gospel is not about a one-time experience that never needs to be repeated. Our relationship with Christ is about the continual crucifying our carnal ways allowing his blood to cleanse us.
When we are pressured and tempted by the demonic realm, it is a reminder that we must continue to fear the God and be obedient to His instructions; otherwise, He permits Satan to lead a destructive attack.
Christ wants all of our heart. There are examples of those in Scripture who defiled themselves greatly. King David committed murder and adultery. If Nathan had not confronted him on his sin, he would probably would have been given over to a reprobate mind and the Holy Spirit would have left him.
Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. RESTORE UNTO ME THE JOY OF THY SALVATION; AND UPHOLD ME WITH THY SPIRIT. – Psalm 51:11-12
The words in this verse have some great meaning and significance. First, David asked God to restore the joy of his salvation. Second, he asked that the Holy Spirit not to leave him. His words would indicate that although he committed a great sin and defiled himself, the Holy Spirit had not left him quite yet. It would be important to note that God had enough grace for him to convict him of his sin that led to repentance.
This example is an utmost important example of who Christ is. He bestows upon us his Father's mercy and grace when we don’t even deserve it. He give us another chance when we take responsibility for our actions. If David continued in disobedience and ignored God’s conviction, the Holy Spirit would have left him. The result, he would have been given over to a reprobate mind devoid of any conviction on the road to destruction.
The fact is, we are all capable of such things too, but thank God He sends people in our lives using them to warn us and bring conviction.
For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: ALL THESE EVIL THINGS COME FROM WITHIN, AND DEFILE THE MAN. – Mark 7:21-23
No one can claim that they have not committed one of these five sins during their lifetime. Thank God that when we fail Him that through a humble spirit he will forgive us and help us get back on the right path.
All through the New Testament there is so much emphasis on not detracting from the true Gospel. We are all challenged to live a life of obedience separate from the traditions of man and the ways of the world.
Wherefore come out from among them, and BE YE SEPARATE, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you - 2 Corinthians 6:17
My people, GO YE OUT OF THE MIDST OF HER, and deliver ye every man his soul from the fierce anger of the LORD. – Jeremiah 51:45
And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, COME OUT OF HER, MY PEOPLE, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. – Revelation 18:4
The only way that we can cleanse ourselves from the sins that defile us is through the grace of Christ. Obedience is taking responsibility for them.
Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, lLET US CLEANS OURSELVES FROM ALL UNFILTHINESS OF THE FLESH AND SPIRIT perfecting holiness in the fear of God. - 2 Corinthians 7:1
We are to cleanse ourselves. We don’t just sit back and say, “I am redeemed,” and do nothing beyond that. It is our responsibility to be diligent and relentless in our pursuit of an uncompromising standard of holiness before God. Those who believe that they have attained perfect holiness are deluded.
Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I FOLLOW AFTER, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. – Philippians 3:12
We must acknowledge our continual need of cleansing, or we are worshipping a bloodless Christ. Worshipping the true Christ is about pressing on with a commitment of attaining an even higher standard. Another "Jesus" is a compromise.
We should be in the habit of exhorting one another on a daily basis so that we do not become ensnared in the teachings of the false gospel”that is everywhere. It is manufactured to deceive and tickle our ears.
But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the DECEITFULNESS OF SIN. – Hebrews 3:13
Satan’s biggest deception is getting people not to acknowledge their sin. He knows that if you continue to not acknowledge them, he has got you. We must understand that this is the greatest danger. The modern church has absolutely no victory because they have no conviction. Their refusal to acknowledge their hedonistic ways exposes their lustful worship of their bloodless Christ, no matter how many ways they try to spin their doctrines.
Which Christ do you worship?
The blood of Jesus Christ is only usable for a limited time. It is imperative that you use it frequently.
