Who/What Is the Holy Spirit
Is the Holy Spirit A Person or and "It"?
Welcome to our Hub. Do you know the Holy Spirit as a Person of the Elohim Godhead? Or do you think the Holy Spirit is just a "It" life force from our Heavenly Father. There is really only one choice given to us in the Bible. The apostle Peter said that the Bible is of no private interpretation so it does say what it says in, 2 Peter 1:20-21. But why do so many, even scholars, stumble at trying to understand the Holy Spirit. The best way to find out is to see what Jesus Christ said and taught on this mysterious subject of the Paraclete, Comforter, Ruach HaKadosh. So we should listen intently to Him, John 14:6,12-15.
So let's see what Jesus Christ had to say about the Holy Spirit in the New Testament and the Old Testament. If you will not believe Jesus then who will you believe? One of the most outstanding verses that Jesus taught us about the Holy Spirit are found in John 3:1-8. Here Jesus is Speaking to Nicodemus a Pharissee and member of the Jewish Sanhedrin. Nicodemus came to Jesus secertly at night to inguire of Jesus about the truths of God, For he and the Jewish leaders believed that he came from God because of the things he taught and did. John 3:2.
The first thing Jesus told Nicodemus was that he needed to be born again, John 3:3. Nicodemus did not understand what Jesus meant? How was he to be born again, would he have to go back into his mother's womb? What did Jesus mean? Jesus told him that he needed to be born of water and the Holy Spirit. After all that which is born of the flesh is flesh, but we still need to be born of the Spirit, Jesus said we cannot enter into the Kingdom of God unless we are chosen by and begotten by the Father, John 3:16,and born of the Spirit, verse 5. Jesus said this is a very marvellous miracle to be born of the Spirit, verse 7. And that everyone born of the Spirit becomes Spirit, verse 8. Jesus should know because He was born of them, Matthew 1:18-23, Luke 1:30-35.
It seems as if Nicodemus was very surprised! Here was a Bible, Torah believing Jew of Jesus' day who needed Jesus to explain this miracle of new birth to him, verses 9-21. Read these verses for yourself. These prophesies told to Nicodemus by Jesus where well known but many still did not understand. They had a problem with believing on Jesus as so many do to day about the promised coming of the Holy Spirit to teach them the things they needed to understand, John 16:8-13.
The Holy Spirit to most Christians, Gentiles and Jews is still a mystery but once we understand who She is, the Bible becomes easier to understand when we let the Holy Spirit Teach Us, John 16:13, Romans 16:25-27, 1 Corinthians 14:2, Ephesians 6:18-19. The problem is that the teachings from most institutional churches prefer to replace the teachings of the Holy Spirit with the patriarchal teachings of men, about how great men are, Matthew 15:7-9. After all, there are some complimentarian or patriarchal men (1st Day and 7th Day) who teach patriarchy as their norm because they teach some kind of Arian Philosophy that the Godhead is male only. Or the One God who is Three instead of Three who are One God, Elohiym - Family.
It was the same Jesus Christ who taught Moses to write the first five books called the Torah starting in Genesis 1 all the way through the books of Exodus, Numbers, Leviticus and Dueterronomy, see 1 Corinthians 10:1-4. Yet, The Holy Spirit is stll a mystery to most Christians, Gentiles and Jews today Ephesians 5:30-32. This should not be but it seems that many do not hear and see correctly for even the Scriptures say they would not understand even today in Matthew 13:13-17. I wonder if there is somethig wrong in these churches that causes God not to reveal these truths to them, or maybe they just grieve and resist the Holy Spirit, a typical Israelite thing, Isaiah 63:7-10, Ephesians 4:30.
Jesus taught Moses about a Hebrew Triunity that the Holy Spirit's name in Genesis 1 is Ruach a feminine noun and Person. But today many ignore this teaching among "Christian Churches" and are leading their sheep on the broadway to destruction. It is amazing how few understand this wonderful concept about Ruach Ha Kadosh. Again, Jesus taught this truth from Genesis 1:2 to John 3:5-8 to Revelation 22:17 and still does today, Hebrews 13:8. It is really a shame that many do not understand even in this endtime, but it is our job as Christians to tell as many as we can so they can be born again as the Children of God the Father and the Holy Spirit into the Kingdom of God as the apostle Paul points out to us in, 1 Corinthians 3:16;12:12-14 and 2 Corinthians 6:16-18.
It seems like one of the hardest problems in understanding Scripture is the language they were written in. The Old Testament was written in Hebrew and Greek . The New Testament was written mostly by Greek translators, though many of the early Christians and Jesus still spoke Hebrew. The Greek seems harder to understand when it is transated into English for us today. So it helps to use a Bible Conordance or a Hebrew or Greek Lexigon and or Bible dictionaries of the Hebrew and Greek Languages. English can become very confusing with the use of pronouns for God the Holy Spirit.
In our research we have found certain articles by different scholars on this subject of the identity of the Holy Spirit - Ruach HaKadosh. One that I have really enjoyed is the one from the Messianic teacher and Scholars from the Torah & Testimony Revealed Ministry, with Hezekiah Haas on this very subject of Ruach HaKadosh the Holy Spirit. I recently used a version by another Messianic in one of our Bible Studies and the ladies found it quite interesting. There were a number of Chinese women present and I'm sure they now listen with more interest to what I have to say to them about whom they were created in the image of God to be like.
The one thing I enjoyed in this Messianic teaching is the way they compare the Hebrew with the Greek. They say it is easier learning the New Testament in the Hebrew since this was the language of the first Jewish Christians in that first century church. I appreciate their openness and graphic understanding on how Jesus Chrst was born. If you will turn to Luke 1:26-35. Here he assures us that it was the Father that begot Jesus in Mary's ovary in her womb as the Holy Spirit was already leaning on Mary in a receiving position. It was the Highest our Heavenly Father, who fetilized Mary's womb with His Seed, Jesus Christ, Who had changed Himself into the Father's Royal Sperm ("seed"). Also Matthew 1:18-20 verifies that it was the Holy Spirit that conceived Jesus in Mary's womb.
Another interesting point that the Messianics make and I think it shows how unrelated most Christians are to the workings of the God Family in general. This has to do with the relationship between Jesus and the New Testament Church - His Bride, mentioned in Ephesians 5:25-32, as a great mystery. To new Christians this is easily explained to us by the apostle Paul in these verses along with Genesis 2:23-24. Those now born of the Spirit have become Christ's Bride, as they are to be married to Him. He has left His Father God and His Mother God- Ruach Ha Kadosh, and cleaves to His wife the Church of God. This is not hard at all to understand.
Look at it this way as our Messianic friend puts it, repenting and calling on Yahuweh causes us to receive the Promise of the Ruach (of the Spirit): Acts 5:31-32, and to be "sealed" in Her womb: Ephesians 1:13, at which time Yahuweh plants His seed (Jesus Christ) in us. This seed is in turn fertilized - germinated with the 'water' of the Word. thus causing us to become conceived of the water and of the Spirit as required in John 3:5.
Now to get to the heart of the mystery, Yeshua leaving His Father and Mother to cleave to His wife - His assembly of called out ones, identifies in Ephesians 5:25-32, with those who have been "born" of the water and of the Spirit. If you understand who Ruach HaKadosh is up to this point then you should have a good idea of the mystery the apostle Paul was speaking about. If not you will need to re-examine yourselves to see if you are in the truth that your church claims it is teachiing you, 2 Corinthians 13:5-6. Most of their ministers will claim it is still a great mystery, at least it is to them. I wonder why?
There are other men and woman from the past and present that have been used to teach us about Ruach HaKadosh. Take for example the late Count Nicholas Ludwig Von Zinzendorf (1700 - 1760 A.D.) with part of the remnant of Jon Huss's 7th Day Church of the Middle Ages.. This man was a well known theologian in Europe in his day. He also taught about the Holy Spirit "Mother". He along with his Church of German Moravians were invited to Pennslyvania by William Penn a member of the Friends Church (Quakers) in Philadelphia Pennsylvania in 1741. Many Moravians settled in Germantown, Pennsylvania. Many Quakers also identify with the Holy Spirit Mother because of this Moravian teaching from Count Zinzendorf even up to this day.
Count Zinzendorf based his teachings on Jesus teaching that we need another Mother who will give us spiritual birth. The Holy Spirit is also the Mother in a third and most important sense. She is the Mother of the church and all those who have been reborn of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the only Mother of those souls who have been once born out of the side hole of Jesus, as the true womb of all blessed souls. We need this spiritual Mother who will give us spiritual birth. So ultimately, then the Holy Spirit is the Mother of Christians in the sense that She is the active agent in conversion.
Another important person who taught about the Holy Spirit Mother was Albert B. Simpson(1843-1919) the founder of the Missionary Alliance Church in Nyack, New York, USA and the Full Gospel Church which was maintained and devoted to the interest of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. This was set up as a Missionary Training College for Home and Foreign Missions in New York City. Simpson also worked very closely with A.T. Pierson an A.J. Gordon two other Egalitarians and well known mnisters of his day.
Simpson's theology of the Holy Spirit may have influenced his view of women. In 1911, he wrote a series of meditatons, one was, When the Comforter Came. One article- "Our Mother God" - expressed Simpson's inspired approach. He wrote, "The heart of Christ is not only the heart of a man but has in it the tenderness and gentleness of a woman. Jesus was not a man in the rigid sense of manhood as distinct from womanhood, but, as the Son of Man, the completed Head of Humanity. He combined in Himself the nature both of man and woman....in the Old Testament we find God revealing Himself under the sweet figure of womanhood.... And this aspect of His blessed character finds its perfect manifestation in the Holy Spirit, our Mother God.
A.B. Simpson gave woman a prominent place in church ministry, encouraging women's participation and leadership in virtually every phase of early Christian & Missionary life. C&MA recognized women as Spirit filled ladies who labored as evangelists and Bible teachers with great effectiveness. In 1887 half of all C&MA vice presidents were women. Of course they were following the lead and teachings from the Holy Spirit as Jesus said the Holy Spirit would teach them, both men and women, John 16:13. There was one other person from the pages of history that also taught about the Holy Spirit Mother. Her name was Johanna Brandt (Warmelo), who belonged to the Dutch Reformed Church in South Africa, Pastored by her husband Rev.L.E. Brandt. She received a vision at her mother's bedside as her mother was dying, with a gift of prophecy. She published several books one titled The Paraclete - Coming World Mother, a book which announced the coming of the God - the - Mother in our age. She said there would be a pouring out of the Holy Spirit first on women and then on men. She believed in the Fatherhood of God, the Motherhood of the Holy Spirit, and Jesus Christ as our Elder Brother, and Their Son, who represent our Heavenly Home which will be here on earth, Revelation 21:1-3.
Johanna's teachings about the Holy Spirit Mother ended up in the New Age Movement. However, the True Holy Spirit - Ruach HaKadosh is not a New Age goddess. She is a member of the Elohim Godhead and the Mother of us all, Galatians 4:26, Isaiah 66:7-13 and She looks like a very beautiful woman as pictured in Revelation 12:1 - She is clothed as in the brightness of the sun (Her Natural Gold color and brilliance) with the moon at her feet (the Church) and on Her head a crown of twelve stars (Twelve Tribes of Israel). In Genesis 1:2, She is pictured as a Mother Eagle and in Matthew 3:16 as a Dove. She shines like Her Husband Yahuweh the Father and Her Son Yeshua - Jesus Christ, They are the God Family and we are invited to join with Them. See what the apostle Paul writes to us about this family in Ephesians 3:14-19 -
" For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He woud grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner person; that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith, that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God. Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto Him be glory in the children by Christ Jesus throughout all ages. world without end. Amen"
Thanks to Jesus Christ , the Cornerstone of the foundation we can have access to the Holy Spirit now and become Temples for the Holy Spirit ( 1Corinthians 3:10-23) and become the children of both God the Father and the Holy Spirit Mother forever( 2 Corinthians 6:16-18), built by Ruach HaKadosh the Holy Spirit of Life, Romans 8:2, Ephesians 2:1-22. Do you see your calling now! Come and follow the wonderful Godhead of Life - Yahuweh, Yeshua and Ruach!
Yes, Ruach HaKadosh the Holy Spirit of Life really is the Mother God Person of the Elohim Family. Your new life in Christ depends on Her living inside you and you are not your own anymore, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20! So submit to one another in fear of the Elohim family because you have become Jesus Christ's Bride, Ephesians 5:21-33, Revelation 19:7; 22:17. We all need to be weaned of Her, if we expect Jesus Christ to use us , Psalm 131:1-3, Romans 8:26-27. The sad part is most have not been properly weaned by Her, Acts 7:51, Isaiah 63:10.
