Why Are We Here, Do You Know?

Updated on July 20, 2009

Purpose of Our Existance

"What is life? What is its purpose? Are we here for a reason? Am I here for a reason? All my life have been taught that there is a caring, listening God who loves his creation, humankind.
Yet every day, horrible, unspeakable things happen to blameless people, inflicted upon
them by nature or by other people. How can a caring, listening God stand idly by while
innocents suffer? How can a just God fail to act when injustice prevails again and again?
You don’t know? What a coincidence! Neither do I. What’s that you say? You DO know? "

-From the book Kingdom Come by Tom Rubenoff

It always amazes me when men (women included) reach their highest pinnacle of life in the very endeavor they embarked upon only to find questions that all of their striving cannot answer. It seems like they bypassed God on the way up or they did not go up high enough to reach Him. Some how they think all of there achievements came by themselves of themselves; neither God nor anyone else had anything to do with it. "I'm the one that pulled myself up by my own boot straps or I'm the one who labored burning the midnight oil cramming for these exams" I, I ,I.

All you mothers out there know that a baby will whale untill he gets that nipple. Then he will learn how to play you to get what he wants. When he is six years old, everything that is his is his and that which belong to his siblings is his. Mine, mine, mine too. Am I right about it? You know you don't have to teach a child to do wrong, he does it all by himself. You do have to teach him how to do the right or there will be hell to pay. All the spoiled brats and those that say it is my way or the high way stand up and say amen!

My dad used to say: "How do you fix your mouth to say such a thing" Yet people fix there mouths to rail against God, to try to hold God accountable for the mess they made as if God were to be subject to them. It reminds me of the man that said, if I'm lying I hope God strikes me dead. He was lying and he is still living so he concluded that there is no God. "The fool has said in his heart, there is no God....." (Palm 14:1a)

Today every man, women or child does that which he think is right in his own heart. They plan, they scheme, they lie to get what they want. Every conceivable pleasure is not withheld from them; they do it all under 'God meant for us to be happy'. I once heard the story from the preacher that was counseling "The King", Elvis Presley. Elvis told him he has everthing life has to offer, nothing was withheld from him. All he had to do is say the word and one of his crew would make it happen. He said I reached the top, there is nothing up here; I'm empty, there is a hole in my chest, a longing in my heart that I cannot fill. The preacher told him that that is the place where God is suppose to be. Only He can fill it. Before the preacher had a chance to give him the Gospel the Kings mother died, and you know the rest of the story. They found him dead, over dosed on drugs. I mean no disrespect.

There is only one purpose of our lives. It is to know and glorify God. Only in this purpose will you find fulfillment and peace. We did not make ourselves, God did, we did not come from apes, we were made by God. "All things (in the universe including man were made by him; and without him was not anything made" (john 1:3) The Lord has made all things for himself; yea even the wicked, for the day of evil" (prov. 16:4) God even made the wicked people but he did not cause them to be wicked. God did not make us robots to do his will without question. When we willfully obey God then he is glorified.

In the book of Job there was a contest between God and the Satan. Then Satan presented himself before God along with the sons of God. And the Lord said unto Satan, hast thou considered my servent Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one who feareth God and shunneth evil? (Job 1:8) You see Job brought glory to God by being a righteous man, one who respected God for who He is, not a man thinking God was subject to him.

If you want to know about God and hold him accountable God has some questions for you. If you can answer them then you can stand on His level.

  • Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?Gird up they loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou Me.
  • Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell me if you have understanding.
  • Who have laid the measures of it, if you know? Or who has stretched the line of it?
  • Whereupon are its foundation fastened? or who has laid its cornerstone, When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
  • Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it broke forth, as if it had issued out of the womb?
  • Can you lift up your voice to the clouds, and that abundance of waters may cover it?
  • Can you send lightnings, that they may go and say unto you Here we are?
  • Will you hunt the prey for the young lions; or fill the appetite of the young lions?
  • Who provideth for the raven his prey? When his young ones cry unto God, they wander for lack of food.

Gird up thy loins like a man; I will demand of you and declare you unto me. Will you dis-annul my judgement? Will you condemn me, that you may be justified? Hast thou and arm like God? or can you thunder with a voice like him. Deck yourself now with majesty and excellency; and array yourself with glory and beauty. Cast abroad the rage of of your wrath; and behold everyone that is proud, and abase him. ( Job 40:7-11)

God does care and he does listen, you just don't like what he is saying to you. You just want your own way. I'm I right about it?. Of course I am because that is the way I was untill I came into knowledge of the truth. The truth is, God love you : God so love the world that He gave his only Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3:16, NIV) God has a plan: I (Jesus)came that they may have life, and might have it abundantly. (John 10:10

Most people are not experiencing the abundant life because; Man is Sinful: "All have sinned an fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23) Jesus died in our place: God demonstrates His own love towards us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8) Christ did for our sins...he was buried... He raised on the third day, according to the Scriptures for our justification.

Though some may disagree, He (Jesus) is the only way to God: "Jesus said unto him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but by Me (John 14:6) We must receive Christ by faith: "As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become childrenof God, even to those that believed in his name.

Lord Jesus I need you. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sin. Forgive me of my sin and come into my heart and be my lord and savior, make me the kind of person you want me to be, I receive you and believe it by faith amen

Gird up thy loins like a man, God has spoken, did you hear Him?

Why are we here, do you know?

Yes I do know, we are here in order to become members of God's family. Whether that be us as Born Again sons and daughters of God and brothers and sisters of The Lord Jesus Christ in the First Resurrection, or the rest of humanity in the Second Resurrection at the time of the Great White Throne Tribunal.
