Audrey's passion for helping others is magnified in her self-help writings. As a speaker and author she answers the call when needed.

“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” ― Rumi

Love Is It's Own Reward

Love is learned best when its learned during childhood. These seedlings of caring and love when planted early in ones life become the strongest part of who you are today.

I thank the experiences and circumstances, both joyful and incredibly difficult, which have brought me to a fuller understanding of the power of love.

Loving is it's own reward.

The hunger for love is much more difficult to remove than the hunger for bread.

Ten Benefits And Rewards of Loving Others

When we truly give love, we do it without thought of being rewarded, otherwise we simply go through the motions. When we expect something in return, clearly we are off-track. This is not love. We are only rewarded when selfless Christ-like love occurs.

So what are some of the benefits of loving others?

  • Feeling of joy
  • Experiencing peace
  • Decreases depression and anxiety
  • Reduces pain
  • Increases a feeling of well-being
  • Reduces blood pressure
  • Serving others increases longevity
  • Boosts the immune system
  • Relieves loneliness
  • Increases self love and confidence

The list is virtually endless. When I feel love for others, I feel a sense of freedom. Maybe, it's the joy experienced as we love. It simply feels good. Will you be you live a life of loving others?

Try it and see for yourself.

Why Can't We Love Each Other?

Why can't we love each other

It's not that hard to do

In fact it's just our natural state

Beginning with me and you.

Why can't we love each other

It's easier than hate

Make it a priority

Before it gets too late.

Why can't we love each other

Forgive and let it go

The past is gone forever

Live for now and grow.

Why can't we love each other

Stop violence and killing

Find good within your fellowman

You can if you are willing.

Why can't we love each other

Spread harmony and joy

Teach your children how to love

Every girl and boy.

Why can't we love each other

It's our choice to make

Let's form a link of friendship

And every hand we'll shake.

Why can't we love each other

We've all been shown the way

Vow to make love a habit

Practice love each day.

This brought a lump to my throat...

“Before you live, love. Before you expire, inspire. Let your love be an inspiration to someone to also love another and together we build up a happy world!”

― Israelmore Ayivor, Leaders' Watchwords

How to Love Difficult People

Love requires knowledge and effort. So, how do we learn to love those that are seemingly impossible to love?

  • Forgiveness. We must, no matter how difficult it may be, forgive others. We are never free until we learn to forgive. This is the first step. Living in anger and bitterness causes us unhappiness.
  • Avoid judging and blaming others. Don't fall into this destructive well. Judging others show its ugly head through gossip, ridicule, hatred, and holding grudges. Stop this type of behavior. Replace it with love and understanding. The people around us are not perfect and neither are we.
  • Be a better listener. Don't interrupt. Just listen and show interest in the person.
  • Remain calm. Use patience.
  • Reflect respect and dignity at all times.

Love is giving, not receiving. We give of ourselves - our joy, our understanding, our patience and most important - our forgiveness. We enrich another person's life. The ability to love as an act of giving depends on the character development of the person.

Certain basic elements common to all forms of love are:

  • Care
  • Responsibility
  • Respect
  • Knowledge

As author, Eric Fromm states in his book "The Art of Loving" - "Love is the active concern for the life and the growth of that which we love." Where this active concern is lacking there is no love.

Love has no expectations...

How Is Respect A Component of Love?

Respect is the ability to see the person as he is - to be aware of his unique individuality - allowing the other person to unfold and grow as he really is. In order to pull this off we must be able to stand and walk without dominating the other person. Love is the child of freedom, never of domination.

Wise Words About Love

From the book, "The Prophet" written by poet, philosopher and artist Kahlil Gibraun :

"Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself .

Love possesses not nor would it be possessed.

For love is sufficient unto love."

The following is a familiar saying but still one of my favorites:

"I love you not because of who you are, but because of who I am when I am with you."

We hear the term 'unconditional love' and images of all sorts come up as we shudder. But to love someone unconditionally simply (or not ) means we love an imperfect person. And we must remember that we are imperfect too.

Do we accept abusive or toxic behavior? Absolutely not! Never sacrifice your self-worth or self-respect. To do so is not love. You must concentrate on loving and respecting yourself. This is mandatory if you seek love and respect from others.

But we do commit and even make sacrifices. We do practice patience and forgiveness. We do learn to love ourselves that we may love others fully. Does unconditional love require courage? You bet! Even with a broken heart we forgive and open our hearts again.

We all need a little love

Do You Really Love Yourself?

Change Your Thinking and Change Your Life

Only when you truly and completely learn how to love ourself are you able to love others unconditionally. And when you find that people have a hard time loving you it just might be because they haven't learned how to love themselves.

Invest In Yourself First To Invest In Others

What is really important to you? Have you ever sat down and spent some quality time with yourself and discovered from the deepest recess of your heart what is important to you? Probably not. Well - do it.

It may be hard but keep a positive attitude and find out what you're truly made of. Don't be hard on yourself in the process and if you fall get back up again. Find that spark of happiness with yourself.

Take the time and energy to truly invest in your most important asset: Yourself. Only then will you be ready to invest in others.

Celebrate who you are.

Final Thoughts To Remember

I've listed ten benefits and rewards which can happen to us when we learn to love others. You will discover many more on your own personal journey to love. The more love you give, the more benefits you'll receive.

  • Don't be afraid to love.
  • Speak only with integrity and be Impeccable with your word. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.
  • The best relationship is the one you have with yourself.
  • Accept yourself the way you are and then you will be able to accept others.
  • Don't put your happiness in someone else's hands.
  • Clean your mind of all fear.
  • See love wherever you go.

What can you do to promote world peace? Go home and love your family.

Mother Theresa

A Thought From The Author

Love is the most priceless gift we can give and it cost absolutely nothing. You are a masterpiece. You are one of a kind with seeds of greatness planted within you. Don't allow contaminated thinking to make you feel undeserving of love.

When your thoughts are loving you will attract love. Nothing can hold you back when you think yourself to victory. Keep believing, keep doing, and keep loving.

Nice poem, and great sentiment! Though one point I would dispute you on. You said that love is easier than hate, which I'm not sure I agree with. It's easier to blame your fellow man for your problems than it is to bear with your fellow man and treat them graciously. There's a quote I love from the poet Rumi:

"Love isn't the work of the tender and the gentle,

Love is the work of wrestlers."

The butterfly effect; pass it on and it can be amazing. I do see things like this now and then but, like Bill, I feel that so many just can't be bothered. It's such a shame but hopefully if everyone at hubpages does what your film shows, it could make a difference.
