Why Do We Believe in Whom We Believe for the Reason We Believe Because We Wish to Believe?

Updated on March 14, 2018

In the beginning ...

I have been writing about belief/believe as it pertains to faith and trust. We know what it means to believe and we know what to believe. We also know in Whom we believe. But, there is one question yet to answer … Why do we believe in Whom we believe for the reason we believe because we wish to believe?

Before I get to the answer, I want to make it clear that every word and Word that יהוה has given us in His Torah, His Nevi’im (the Prophets), His Ketuvim (the Writings), His ha-Berit ha-Chadashah (the New Testament) is connected from the beginning to the end.

Bereshit (Genesis) 1:1--”In the beginning Elohim created the heavens and the earth.”

Hazon (Revelation) 22:20-21--”He that bears witness of these matters says, ‘Yes, I am coming speedily.’ Amein. Yes, come, Master יהושﬠ! The favor of our Master יהושﬠ ha-Meshiach be with the set-apart ones. Amein.”

Supporting Scripture

Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 44:6--”Thus said יהוה, Sovereign of Yisra’el, and his Redeemer, יהוה of hosts, ‘I am the First and I am the Last, besides Me there is no Elohim.’”

Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 48:12--”Listen to Me, O Ya’aqov, and Yisra’el, My called: I am He, I am the First, I am also the Last.”

Ib’rim (Hebrews) 12:2--”Looking to the Prince and Perfecter of our belief, יהושﬠ, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the stake, having despised the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of Elohim.”

Hazon (Revelation) 1:8--”’I am the “Aleph” and the “Tav”, Beginning and End,’ says יהוה, ‘who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.’”

Hazon (Revelation) 1:17-18--”And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead, and He placed His right hand on me, saying, ‘Do not be afraid, I am the First and the Last, and the living one. And I became dead, and see, I am living forever and ever. Amein. And I possess the keys of She’ol and of Death.”

Hazon (Revelation) 21:6-7--”And He said to me, ‘It is done! I am the “Aleph” and the “Tav”, the Beginning and the End. To the one who thirsts I shall give of the fountain of the water of life without payment. The one who overcomes shall inherit all this, and I shall be his Elohim and he shall be My Son.’”

Hazon (Revelation) 22:13--”I am the ‘Aleph’ and the ‘Tav’, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”

Now, I return again to the original question …

… Why do we believe in Whom we believe for the reason we believe because we wish to believe?

We are sinners (Romiyim (Romans) 3:23).

In a fallen world.

In need of salvation.

This salvation comes from יהוה through His only brought-forth Son, יהושﬠ (Yochanan (John) 3:16), and who also gave us His Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) to lead us into all truth and into the Truth (יהושﬠ) (Yochanan (John) 16:13).

We become a part of the mishpachah (family) of Elohim (Romiyim (Romans) 6:23) for and to the glory of יהוה.

Why do we need this salvation?

Because we are sinners in a fallen world in need of salvation.

Supporting Scripture

Romiyim (Romans) 3:23--”For all have sinned and fall short of the esteem of Elohim.”

Yochanan (John) 3:16--”For Elohim so loved the world that He gave His only brought-forth Son, so that everyone who believes in Him Should not perish but possess everlasting life.”

Yochanan (John) 16:13--”But when He comes, the Spirit of Truth, He shall guide you into all the truth. For He shall not speak from Himself, but whatever He hears He shall speak, and He shall announce to you what is to come.”

Romiyim (Romans) 6:23--”For the wages of sin is death, but the favorable gift of Elohim is everlasting life in יהושﬠ ha-Meshiach our Master.”

Be Blessed

Baruch ata, Adonai Eloheinu, Melech ha-olam, asher natan lanu ha-derekh ha’yeshua’ba’meshiach Yeshua, barch hu. Amein.

Blessed are You, Adonai Eloheinu, King of the universe, who gave to us the Way of salvation through Yeshua, blessed be He. Amein.
