Why we shouldn’t always say: God, Why me?

Updated on August 8, 2011

✰♡* Blessing in Disguise *♡✰

There are times in life that we don’t know why we have to face such tough challenges. After all we are not bad people. We know life is not a bed of roses but some challenges make it feel as if our lives are about to fall apart and even sometimes I have said: God, Why me?

However, I have learnt in many of those circumstances that most of the challenges, turn out into a beautiful situation or give me a very important lesson to learn and share with others.

First Story

In 1995, I bought a beautiful two bedroom flat while I was doing my first job in the Civil Service as an Admin Assistant…. But I only bought the flat because my landlord asked me and some others who were sharing a house to leave, as he needed to sell it. At the time I felt my world had turned upside down, but the friend I stayed with, showed me some flats in a newspaper and before I knew it, I viewed the property, got a Mortgage and the rest is history.

At the time I cried and said: “God, why me”

But when I got the keys to my flat I was smiling to myself wishing the Landlord had kicked us out earlier.

Second Story

A friend of mine attended an interview but didn’t get the job. He came back a bit disappointed because he prayed before he went. Weeks later, the same company called him to be interviewed for another job, which he was successful at. They gave him the job. Months later they had to lay off some staff and one of the posts that had to go was the first job, for which he was interviewed for.

So, he was thanking God that he actually didn’t get the first job.

This is just a short message to encourage you and me to be positive. Challenges of life could lead to a miracle, a new blessed beginning. We need to stay positive and see the good in everything.

Please feel free to share any challenges you or others have faced that turned round to be a blessing in disguise.

Ps. Good Luck to all my Muslim friends having Ramadan. May God answer your prayers as you take time to fast and Pray. •*¨*•✩✬

Why me? Why does everyone smile and gently pull my chubby cheeks?

      Hi nice Hub. Great lesson

Yes we don't know what GOD has in store for us and sometimes we question HIM which is wrong. He knows everything and we don't.

      Keep up the good work.

I think too we all have at some point said, 'why me.?' But as we grow and mature we think differently - time to exercise faith/works. v/r

My Dear Lady I too have often asked God this question and in spite of my hardheadedness things still seem to be OK. So when I get into hateful mode I know I need to count my gratefuls. And it sounds stupid but I have a GodBox and when things are tight I write him a letter asking for help. And after I send God the letter I never look at it again. Now the box is stuffed with letters and I cannot remember what many of them were about. All I know is that when I wrote them whatever was going on it was a big deal.

Elena, we should always endeavour to achieve even when chips are down and not let the sulk take over our mind and make us brood!!

I hope your city is back to normal after the riots and that you are safe in every way!!

Uplifting. God knows best, even when we don't. It's hard, sometimes, when the answers to our prayers are not forthcoming. But in His good time...he will make all things beautiful. Rated up.

Great HUB!! Lessons that are learned in life are that there are ups and downs. We have to have faith in both ends. Thanks

Excellent insight and so true; we as humans tend to forget that sometimes --- God's answer is NO! It may not be the right time, or the direction we are meant to go. I call these challenges "divine intervention."

      Cheers xx
