Would You Be Happy in Heaven?

Updated on May 25, 2015

One person’s hell may be another person’s heaven. If you were stuck at a lunch party with strangers, and you’d rather be home doing something you enjoy—that lunch is hell no matter if it’s one hour or three hours. If you were married to the most beautiful woman/handsome man but you don’t love her/him, than that marriage is hell and it’s for life.

So it is with the heaven that God promises. Yes, He promises salvation, eternal life, and a home for each of us—but eternity with God…does that sound like heaven or hell? Who is this God to you?

His Second Coming

Jesus promised His second coming. He talked about making preparations and coming back for us. “In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” John 14:2, 3

And after Jesus was taken up to heaven, two angels came and “…said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.” Acts 1:11 “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpof God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:” 1 Thessalonians 4:16

And when Jesus returns, those who died loving God, will be raised and taken to heaven. If they were already there, they would not need to be resurrected.

“Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” 1 Thessalonians 4:17

Then the rest of us who are still living our faith, will be going up into the air, and be taken to heaven. “For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.” 1 Corinthians 15:53 Our bodies will be changed to how Adam and Eve had been created—in God’s "very good" image.

In Heaven

“And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Revelation 21:3, 4 "And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads." Revelations 22:4

No more death, nor crying; all the miseries of earth, with diseases, deaths, and sufferings of life—gone. And God will walk and talk with you.

“And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.” Revelation 21: 22, 23, 25 There is no night, because God is walking and talking with you; it is constantly bright. On earth, we need the sun and moon to light our way, but in heaven, God’s glory will be the light for us. Our bodies have changed, but just as Adam and Eve needed night and day for rest, we too will be resting and waking.

"In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations." Revelation 22: 2 “And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.” Genesis 1:29 Death was never part of God's Creation. He gave the Tree of Life and fruits for Human' sustenance, but because of sin, we fell to killing and eating God’s creatures. In heaven, we will return to the life that God intended: without death being part of our lives.

God With Us

Everyday in heaven, we will see Him, face to face. Is that heaven to you? Who do you think God is that you would want, or not want, to be with Him?

Yes, now we “see Him through a glass, darkly” but Jesus said, "If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.” John 14:7

Do you know and love Jesus? Do you know and love God?

“…Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” John 1:29 Do you truly see Jesus? Do you see how much Jesus loved you, that he left Heaven for you? “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

Heaven on Earth

"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth inme: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." Galatians 2:20 "For the law of the Spirit of life inChrist Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death." Romans 8:2 Free from sin and death: doesn’t that sound like what heaven is? No more death, nor sorrow… What Law will free us? Love God (1st-4th Commandments), Love Others (5th-10th Commandments).

Allow Christ to live in you. Allow Him to work in you and live the sinless, righteous life He wants for you. When you have a relationship with Him everyday, your life will be heavenly. You can and are able to have heaven, right now on earth.

If you can turn to Jesus and say, you first and always—without the desire for salvation and eternal life—then you know what it is to know God.
