Yoga Sun Salutation Combined With Gratitude Prayers

Praying is one of those activities which can easily be multi-tasked with almost anything. I certainly know many memorized prayers which I can spout out by rote and not invest much reflection. Hopefully, they have become part of the fabric of my soul and serve me (and the deity) well. However, I have many feelings and thoughts that I like to share with the super power of goodness and take time to ponder and share. I find that doing a familiar yoga routine slowly with interspersed prayer meets my need to honor my body’s health and to honor my god and “touch base.”
The philosophy of inviting good things and abundance into one’s life, often called the law of attraction, promotes becoming vigorously grateful. Acknowledging what wonderful situations you currently have encourages more to come, according to people who believe that they have consciously steered more wealth and health into their own daily lives. Whether or not you agree, being mindfully, intentionally grateful puts you in a happier emotional state. Who wouldn’t want that?
Yoga Sun Salutation
A set of poses called Sun Salutation warms up the entire body and ranges from standing through floor positions. Personally, when I do them “too” quickly, I feel that I have cheated myself. I like the yoga concepts of surrendering certain muscles to gravity and enjoying the gradual stretching of muscle groups as I release the American "Type A controlling personality" or Western need to force everything into a designated position. For me, staying in the equestrian pose for a full minute feels wonderful!
Sun Salutation Poses
I am using the set of exercises in Sun Salutation Version C. The poses are: Mountain (Prayer), Standing Back Bend, Forward Bend, Lunge (Equestrian), Plank, Eight Point, Cobra, Down Dog, Lunge (Equestrian), Forward Bend, Standing Back Bend, Mountain (Prayer).
You can easily adapt the exercises to substitute Warrior One or other asanas for the poses of Version C.

Thank you, ___, for a body that can bend over. Thank you for my hands that can reach and my toes which can wiggle. Thank you for a safe place to sleep and a great day ahead of me.
As I settle into this pose, I release negative thoughts and useless notions. I throw away petty judgments of others and open myself to your inspiration and guiding, ___. Thank you for caring for me. I am quieting my mind and listening for your wisdom.
Thank you that every day, as long as I have breath, that I can grow and learn.
Thank you, ___, for my purpose in life.
I am so happy and grateful that you show me how to make positive changes for my family, my community, my kin, sisters, brothers, of all people on the earth, and for the earth itself.

A Rosary For Yoga
Quieting the mind goes with yoga and, often, with meditating and praying. When I go through the Sun Salutation slowly, I sink into each pose and good feeling endorphins are released. What an excellent time to share my feelings of thankfulness with the creator.
