Your Tarot Toolkit: 9 Card Karmic Tarot Spread

You can create your own tarot spread or explore the tarot spreads shared on line.

I personally, enjoy creating personalized tarot spreads. However, I am also keen on others creativity and insightful questions posed in other’s tarot spreads.

Today, I was in a relaxed mode and decided to go searching on the net for a tarot spread I hadn’t worked with before. I came across this 9 Card Karma Tarot Spread on the acclectic forum website. I liked what I saw. I felt comfortable with this karma tarot spread; and I thought you and my Querent, Simon, may enjoy this too.

I have to tell you Simon was sceptical although curious about the idea of karma operating in our daily lives but he was surprised at what came through

If you, too, feel like Sisyphus, rolling that boulder daily up the mountain only to have it to slide back down the mountain again (repeating this day in and day out), then, this tarot spread may just be for you.

What to Do?

1. Set the intention to be objective before you start to shuffle the cards and do your intuitive tarot reading.

Here, you may choose to do a visualization where you feel relaxed and centred. This may or may not include a prayer or a quote that is meaningful to you.

I like this simple invocation-

“Infinite Intelligence of the Universe

I now attune myself to my Divine Higher Self

and to the Divine Holy Essence of Love, Light, Truth and Compassion”

2.Shuffle your tarot cards

3. Fan the tarot cards out, face down

4. Ask one tarot question at time, followed by selecting one tarot card spontaneously.

5. Place each tarot card face up in the pattern-

1 2 3

4 5 6

7 8 9

6. Take a little time to gaze over all the cards.

7. Notice the predomination of colours; the elements, numerology; and anything that catches you eye, make a note of it.

Tarot de St Croix Tarot Deck for this Reading

I have chosen to use Lisa de St Croix’s tarot deck-Tarot de St Croix. I love the warm bold tones of this tarot deck; together with the fact, that her visual metaphors for this deck of 78 tarot cards, was intuitively received and delivered with faith that this is what Universal Intelligence wanted to communicate at this point in time. You can see the rest of her tarot cards, here.

9 Card Karma Tarot Spread

So, let’s get started….

Need to let you know that the Querent, Simon, is a single father with a daughter. He struggles with being a hedonistic male, chasing the good times, together with being a steadfast father and a reliable employee, with a solid nest egg behind him.

Here is what the karma tarot spread revealed to Simon.

Q1. What’s the main karmic lesson you brought into this world?

(7 Pentacles)

The karmic lesson Simon brought into this world was that he believed in saving a nest egg but somehow, he would spend the money as soon as it came in.

In his past life, no one saw Simon as a reliable person, therefore he found it difficult to get a loan, or be helped, by a friend or relative.

He realized in his past life that money screams. Money is power.

In his past life, Simon was forced to learn to pick and choose wisely from the observed surrounding opportunities, before he put all his drive into achieving these opportunities.

Q2. What past life actions necessitated this karmic lesson?

(Ace Wands)

In his past life, Simon didn’t believe in himself.

Simon was tested over and over with new opportunities to grow the faith within himself and his capabilities, so that he could secure and increase his financial status.

What would happen to Simon though, would be for whatever reason, he wouldn’t be able to fulfil the needs of the presented opportunities which resulted in Simon questioning his ability to succeed.

Q3. What past life attitude/emotions necessitated this karmic lesson?

(10 Cups)

In his previous life, Simon hadn’t experienced a sense of family, a sense of happiness or unity. This past life experience is what drives him to want to become reliable, meeting others halfway as well as becoming a respectable employee/business leader. Simon believes that if he can achieve these things, the experienced happiness will spill over into his relationships, bringing him this feeling of family and unity that he has innately craved for all his life.

Q4. What karmic tests have I passed this life time?

(9 Swords)

What Simon does this lifetime is, to stay up all night worrying about his financial situation. Through doing this and then being forced to deal with the consequences the following day (overtired and cranky), Simon has learnt to adopt the attitudes of: - it is what it is; and to do what needs to be done.

Simon has learnt about the beliefs he holds in relation to his health and his body, through his daughter’s mother. That is, Simon learnt that if the body is signalling that something is not right, then that may well mean the body is ill and advice needs to be sought.

Simon’s ex-partner had become ill a number of times which needed her to have a number of surgeries. Through these experiences, Simon has learnt not to push himself to the edge; and to not think he is invincible with his health.

Q5. What karmic tests do I still need to pass?

(The Hermit)

The Hermit card of turning within and trusting one’s own counsel, showed up here. To me that says, Simon still needs to trust and have faith in his own intuition and judgement.

Simon is an emotional person. His challenge is to learn to become more objective/detached when he is working out how to solve a personal dilemma. Otherwise his emotions will cloud his judgement and therefore, make him choose an action/decision he will later regret. Simon needs to practice listening to his conscience and following it.

Simon also needs to practice feeling more and more comfortable about accepting responsibility for his actions. The more Simon can do this, the more caring and considerate he will become and therefore become a wonderful asset in helping others emotionally.

Q6. What are the actions needed to achieve your karmic goal?

(8 Cups)

Simon needs to find ways to prevent himself from becoming overwhelmed or paralysed by his emotions.

Simon needs to find ways to curb his tendency to pursue fun and pleasure to an extreme. Simon will need to take time to sit in the shadows and not be the centre of attention.

The more Simon can learn to feel comfortable with doing some self-reflection about his thinking patterns and/or actions around feeling sad, the more he will be able to turn things around in a positive way.

Q7. What attitude/emotions are needed to achieve this karmic goal?

(King Wands)

The more Simon trusts himself to share what challenges he has faced; and how he has overcome them, the more synergy and harmony will start to arise within his life.

Simon needs to develop leadership skills and lead with integrity. He has the chance to have an international business and become a respected leader that others would like to follow.

The King of Wands represents someone who manipulates others and causes many awkward entanglements. The King of Wands is self-serving and will deceive him, to only place the blame on him for something he hasn’t done. Simon must learn ways to not allow the King of Wands to rule over him. In other words, Simon must learn to deal effectively with such a character as this. This is his karmic goal.

Q8. What is the karmic goal in this life?

(3 Wands)

Simon’s karmic goal is to work out who is trustworthy and who isn’t trustworthy in this current life. Otherwise, the wrong people will enter into Simon’s life as either a relationship partner or a business partner, who leads by making false promises. Simon’s karmic goal is to take that leap of faith and trust. This time, he will be pleasantly surprised, as he will be provided with a trustworthy and decent partner.

Q9. What is your karmic gift? (insight into achieving your goal)

(6 Cups)

During this lifetime, Simon will experience people returning from his past; or bumping into a friend, who he hasn’t seen in a little while. This friend will be trustworthy and give Simon the words he needs to hear in order to make the changes needed either in his personal life or his work life. And, Simone will also become that same type of person for others.

New opportunities can be grasped this lifetime. He needs to adjust his attitudes so that he can make the best of these opportunities.

Simon could be writing children’s books if he wanted, too, this lifetime.

In Conclusion

To break through and conquer his life time experiences and improve the quality of his life, Simon needs to step up and take on a leadership role. He needs to be proactive. He may out times fight between being moody and passive to being destructive, aggressive or proactive. He will find the middle ground through trial and error. Simon just needs to believe he has the gift of leadership. He could leave the role as an employee and start up a successful international business.

Simon would benefit from following a spiritual pursuit where he gets it that life happens in cycles. All things must die in order for the new to be born.

Simon needs to be aware he can be his own worst enemy by undoing all the good he has created by being over pleasure seeking and irresponsible.

So, see what you learn with this karmic spread. It just may be the eye opener you need right now.

Thank you for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed this tarot tool and add it to your tarot life toolkit.
