   Why non-believers make it hard for them to follow the Lord?
   
   I see a lot of people here in the Philippines that are very resistant when it comes to knowing God. What could be the possible answer/s for this attitude

   there doesn't need to be an answer. if you lived in the philipines you would most likely realise that there is no god because of all the things that have occured there. never mind the problems caused by corruption, believers will blame that on satan to justify it but instead look at the things like typhoons, hurricanes and such. if god was real and so loving how would he or she justify killing people all the time with bad weather.

   Perhaps they are learning to think and stand on their own two feet without the crutch of religious dogma.

   There is nothing wrong with hurricanes, typhoons, and tornadoes. The evil in them is that we happened to be located in their paths. A hurricane out in the middle of the ocean harming nobody is a gift from God.
   
   It is out fault for establishing civilization in the hurricane's path.

   God is an illusion created thousands of years ago by men who wanted a distinct and separate answer to explain that which they did not know. As time progresses, thought advances, and science is allowed to play an ever expanding role in the lives of people, we learn that which was not know by our parents or grandparents. My mother, even at age 92, believed the world was flat as it is stated that way in the Book of Joshua, and was convinced that the USA did not land a man (Neil Armstrong) on the moon as it was not prophesied in her bible.
   
   There is no need for a god, as we adapt to our environment and dying in a part of living. After we die our atoms return to the great and evolving circle of life to give other micro-organisms a chance to evolve further. Since we cannot stop our mortality it is best to enjoy life while we have it--as there is no record of anyone ever coming back from the dead (the account of the brother of Mary and Martha (Lazarus) coming back to life is from an ancient Egyptian papyrus--even though once he was brought back to life he disappears--but that is the subject of a special ritual of ancient Egyptian theology).
   
   The term "The Lord" meant, originally, "one who controls and subjects others to his control"--it was a slave owner, which gave birth in the seventh century CE (current era) to the myth of Islam (the word means "submission") and the enslavement of the mind. Only the individual, as a separate being, can chose to "believe" or follow science and know that he/she is not alone but can enjoy the moment.

   It depends on what you consider God to be. Some may think of him/her/it as the whole of creation and to them the idea that God would be an illusion would be as bad as claiming that brick wall is not there that you just crashed into..
