Free will is the ability to choose something without coercion.

Say if somebody tell us "Give me your money or your life" That is not free will.

God gives you free will. This is because unlike religious myths, God will not punish you.  However, you will bear to natural consequence of you choice. For example if you  put you hand in fire, you will get hurt. That does not mean God is punishing you. It is the natural consequence of your action. God would have preferred if you used fire wisely say for warmth, cook food, or for lighting. All of these are natural consequences of your actions. God gives all the natural consequences of your action not as punishment or rewards.

However, man do not always give each other free will.
Listen to the news. There is exploitation, coercion, terrorism, violence, poverty, lack of basic human rights and systematic removal of opportunities for other individuals and communities to rise above poverty.

It's our gift. We make our own decisions. Our own destiny.

Free will would be a decision that it not hampered by rules,  opinions, or guilt. We may think we exercise our free will, but most of us get caught up in the possible ramifications of our actions.
