Do you think it's possible to have a 1st Century church in the 21st century?
I was talking about this with my boss yesterday who is a Christian like myself. We were belaboring the fact that there are SO many denominations today, each with it's own variety of belief idiosyncrasies. I was halfway joking by wondering why the church today can't go back to the days of early Christianity For example, is it possible to have a church today based solely on the teaching of Christ or would it be impossible to even agree on those?
yes. its all really about where your hearts at and how willing you are to follow it.
Yes. Unfortunately, few Christians would agree to join it or abide by the rules governing it. Imagine spending time in a service WORSHIPPING God! Learning the Bible! Studying the savior and what it means to serve him. Focusing on the joy found in obeying god.
I hate to say this, but the vast majority of Christians either want to be entertained (see mega churches) or they want God to be a money-maker. They don't want to hear about hell or damnation. Don't want to hear about obeying God. Don't want to understand that faith without works is dead. Don't want to hear that Jesus and his followers advocated a kind of communism where the church takes care of thier own, without the government!
No, the modern church wants to argue with each other in their pursuit of the almighty dollar. People want services that are less than 45 minutes and uplifting. Kids want prizes and rewards for attending. And nobody wants to think deeply about what they believe in or why they call themselves 'christians'.
It's the last days, for sure.
Absolutely yes. It would take every individual 100% surrender and seeking GOD'S will and ultimate purpose for each individual life to know and walk with GOD moment by moment. This would include daily self examination and judgment of ourselves with us putting on Christ image and likeness moment by moment in our life. Jesus Christ shown humanity how to live on the earth with one another along with wisdom of how to be wise as a serpent and gentle as a dove in living in the world and not be of the world. GOD have blessed me with a vision of the other side of death on August 1, 1982 A.D. a Sunday morning. I am fulfilling GOD'S will for my life on the earth through my 3 articles with an hub score of 1st article: 64, 2nd article: 80, 3rd article: 81; along with me answering questions on hubpages. GOD have prepared me for this mission 18 years to the month of August 2010 A.D. when the referring sites found the greatest article that I written by divine inspiration that was picked up by 100% referring sites and spread around the world in 8 countries and 11 cities. You just have to be prepared for all of the attacks of satan through other people when you are spreading the message that GOD wants you to share with humanity. From 2 hubbers attack on me of which I gladly receive and laughing out loud saying I need mental help and medical help because of my message and writing answers to the questions on hubpages. I understand that they can not grasp and understand my knowing and walking with GOD moment by moment ever since August 1, 1982 A.D. a Sunday morning GOD shown me in a vision the other side of death. All 3 articles I have written is what GOD wanted me to share with humanity and it is doing very well through 100% referring sites for my 1st article, besthubpages.com and Top Listings for my 2nd article, 1st page on Google and steadily climbing up in total pageviews of 256 for my 3rd article. GOD have backed up his words for me to speak to all of humanity in boldness and meekness for all the world to see. No need to be concern about Ambassador Butler because the truth is marching on. Glory to GOD.
I doubt it since the teachings of Christ do not coincide with the organized Christian religion in any way. To truly follow Christ would collapse the basis of every Church all over the world. Remember that the different Christian religions all hate one another for the same reason that Walmart hates Target; they are competitors for your business. And like any for-profit company, each one markets itself as the best, or only, option (despite the fact that some were only created a few decades ago). After Jesus was crucified in the 30s AD, the earliest surviving Christian writings were the epistles written by Paul of Tarsus about 20 years later. By then, he had formulated some sort of proto dogma as the leader of the sect. 10 years after that, Emperor Nero started persecuting Christians. At that time, the Gospel of Mark (as we know it today [minus the last part of the last chapter]) was first written. At this point the Jewish Revolt began, Nero was murdered, there was war in Jerusalem and civil war in the Empire. Revelation was written. The Roman general who defeated the Jews and destroyed the Temple made himself the new Roman emperor. 10 years after that, Luke, Matthew, and Acts were written by unknown authors who both drew upon various sources. Mark was modified quite a bit--pieces added about resurrection and the Son of God. Actually the earlier we go back in Christianity, the more disappointed we are and the less we actually want to know. Churches never teach about their history.

I just read a post from someone stating that Christianity is based on the Bible which stands to reason, "If Christianity is based off the bible then that means it would have never come to furition since the book would never have been written because no Christian would have existed before...

Why does it seem most Christians are immature. It seems most people professing to be Christian do not have a proper grounding in the scriptures. They drink the milk but do not seem to be able ( or maybe no desire?) to eat the real meat- understand the deeper things of God, in spite of the fact...

Can only Christians and those who accept Jesus Christ go to heaven?According to Christianity, only those who have openly accepted Jesus Christ and the Christian faith may go to heaven. If that is the case, what about the African tribe who has never heard of of Jesus? Even if they are good people,...

In Christianity, do non believers go to hell? What happens to the people that believe in another religion and another God. If the Christian God is the only true God, then are those people damned?
