It is actually reported that there is immorality among you, and immorality of such a kind as does not exist even among the Gentiles, that someone has his father’s wife. You have become arrogant and have not mourned instead, so that the one who had done this deed would be removed from your midst.
1 Corinthians 5:1-2
("Jesus wouldn't want us to turn anyone away.")
A clear understanding of Scripture in the right context can answer this question easily.
A practicing pedophile is an illegal activity and must be dealt with swiftly. The ones who are convicted are often ordered to keep a certain distance away from all children. I would check the local authorities to see if there is a restriction on this person.
A pedophile should not be allowed to attend anywhere in the public, but that also goes for murderers, rapists, kidnappers, unabombers, etc...it's common sense.
There is a difference between a pedophile and a former one who has faced the consequences and repented of his or her ways and been transformed by the grace of Jesus Christ. A true follower of Jesus Christ is no longer a slave to their carnal nature, but a new creation in Him.
It is important to be able to make that distinction.
