Is your interpretation of the Bible equal to that of God?

    Explain your answer.

Originally asked HeavenBound5511, but open to all.

I feel that only humility will let us find the answers we seek.

Long ago, people were burned at the stake for not believing someone else's interpretation. The Catholic Church created a pogrom against the Cathars, crusades, and inquisitions. Earlier than this, Emperor Justinian arrested and perhaps later murdered a Pope because he wouldn't follow Justinian's interpretation of Christianity.

Is it possible to miss out on heaven because we have the wrong interpretation or that we're not humble enough?

as humans we ALL come short of the glory of God I think... that does not mean we should NOT try.  Everyone has different interpretations of the bible.  How many sermons are preached on the same scriptures?.. LOTS!!
I do think Gods plan for us all is the same and I think people look into things too deep to the point they miss the point!! God wants us to choose his plan, to live how Jesus set the example.  Again we are humans and will make bad choices, thank God for repentance.  As long as we see our mistakes and repent, do better next time, there's no reason we can't do better and better everyday!! Before we walk we must crawl.

Beautiful! And wouldn't it be nice for those who have their own ideas to hold them lightly so that God can speak to them?

Before we walk, we must crawl, yes! But some people insist that crawling is the ultimate Truth.

Id like to believe my interpretation of the Bible is somewhere close to that of Gods. I read the Bible and take from it what I can that will help me improve my life and bring me closer to God.
I agree with Dixie. We pick and pull and pervert scripture to make it better for our lives. Instead of changing ourselves, we change the meaning of passages. I try to take the Lords word just as it is written. If He says No, then that means No. If he says something pleases Him, thats what I try to do.
Theology and Doctrine are for those who, I believe, need something to prove. I have yet to see a passage yet that would make the Lord appear to be talking in circles. He says what He says, and thats how we should take it, and follow it.

Thanks, @TattedKajun. Can discussing the meaning of scripture help us discover things there that we may never have seen before?

I found a timeline in Genesis compatible with those of science. I also found Kabbalah's "Tree of Life" embedded there.

    Silly question.
When we become one with God this does not matter anymore, and before that we are too busy working out our own salvation both in a non-conscious and conscious way.

@manatita44, it may be a silly Q for you or I, but for so many Fundamentalists who act as though their interpretation is equivalent to that of God, I hope it gives them pause to gain some humility.

      Thanks Lone77star.
I also withdraw the word 'silly'. On reflecton, I could have approached it differently. Much peace.

Bless you, my friend. I can tell your heart was in the right place. Salvation is what it's all about and we can only attain it with the humility of a beggar holding an empty cup
