Does your life sometimes seem like a beach ball in God's hands?
I have had goals in my life and have made plans, but so often my life has taken a totally different direction than what I thought it would. And sometimes those detours have brought wonderful people into my life. But other times I feel like my life/the beach ball gets bounced off things without warning (like a job change or ilness in family). So if your life sometimes feels like a beach ball, raise your hand and tell me what kind of block deflected your beach ball. lol
What is the saying? "Life is what happens when we are busy making plans." Oh, and I like this one..."God has a sense of humor we plan, he change the plan to see what we do....
I like the beach ball analogy....I have/do, indeed, /felt/feel like a beach ball but the ball always land at or on the spot where I need to be at that moment and the experience, or lesson has been valuable.
What a great question.
Life is all about co incidents & unexplainable s. Even you didn't get a chance to choose your face or color? So don't expect much in life..................................
Hmm...I've felt this way many times. Sometimes, just like the beach ball, I get kicked and tossed by strangers who think I'm not focused, don't know my direction and lost. Sometimes I see people trying to 'deflate' me. It's always like that....you are not the only one.
I have a very old Irish priest at my church, Father Duggan. He had a homily last week that corresponds to your beach ball. "A life of God is like a grasshopper. I don't know too much about grasshoppers. They make noise. They jump....and then, they fall flat on their faces. We all fall flat on our faces sometimes in our lives. But it takes the strength, to get right back up again, and to take, another leap. A leap of faith. And God, will give us that strength, if we are faithful to him." He went on to say that the Devil is able to get us 15 minutes after we die. "But you see, the Irish like to play it safe, so they say, the Devil can still get you a half hour after you die. That is where the prayer comes from; 'I hope that you are in Heaven, a half hour, before the Devil even knows that you have died."
Actually, it usually feels like a beachball when I'm not doing my best or what I should be doing. When I'm actually seeking God and living His principles I feel like I'm on solid ground.

I believe my journey through life has been more like a mine field than a beach ball. After reading your hub on your own life I can surely see where yours is much more like the ball.

Mine has been a more controlled flow where I set my goals and work towards a reasonably satisfactory ending only to step on a mine and find the whole thing blow up in my face. Mine is a world of extremes where things are either really good or very, very bad. Very cut and dry, little meandering like the beach ball or a lazy river. More like buffalo grazing quietly until hunters come and drive me from the cliff.
As I answer your question I realize my outlook may seem somewhat morose, however I have few complaints. Good or ill, my life has been a most excellent adventure, to coin a phrase from ole Bill and Ted. I guess it is the variety in how lives flow that keep them interesting, be they beach balls or mine fields. Bottom line is, with out good there can be no bad and without a little, or a lot of bad in out lives how can we possibly appreciate the good to the fullest.
Coming to Christ I do not think is easy at any age. I came to christ when i was 50, three years ago. I was always the jovial fellow, I put others ahead of myself - a real nice guy - or so I thought and perhaps on the human level i was, but when God got a hold of me, I soon realized that many things had to change. I struggled with them and got trapped by them. I realized i was following my flesh far to much, even my thought patterns had to change, even my humor! The first two years were, pardon the metaphor, hell. The spirit brought all this stuff up and to the forefront and there was praying to be done aplenty! Nowadays, another year later, if my life is a beach ball, its on the waves just floating and feeling rather peaceful. Still much work to do but nothing like those first two years. Who knows what the future will bring.

Is our destiny in God's hands or do we actually have free will, being that God knows all?

Can you really change God's mind? If yes, then what does that say about God? If not, then why do it? And why ask others to pray for you or for someone who is perceived to be in need of prayer? I have asked this question to many religious people because I've never understood the purpose of things...

I can't figure out why people seem to be upset when someone doesn't get over their sadness.I purposefully didn't say "can't get over their sadness" or "won't get over their sadness" or "don't want to get over their sadness" because I am not sure which it is that people...
