In Galatians 5:22,23 the Apostle Paul writes, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control." Fruit refers to the outcome or effect produced by the Spirit in the life of the believer. Note that fruit is singular although it contains nine elements. Every true believer will experience all nine virtues although they may develop over a period of time. Spirit is also singular referring to the Holy Spirit dwelling within the believer.
