Why would a god be interested?
Bearing in mind that many religions say that their followers must do things like wearing certain clothes (even covering the body completely), or funny hair styles, some must wear hats, others mustn't, some can't eat certain foods etc. Why would any god be interested in such petty details of what is little more than fashion statements?
I think Those 'petty details' religions are just that, interested in rituals that are meaningless. I don't blame God for those human faults or human rules and those religions who misrepresent God. You are correct, the petty details likely do not interest God at all.
I don't think he would, would he... These are symptoms/actions that people have created, can't think of a positive why though... possibly to show some respect, or to stand out from others, could be many reasons...
I have to agree with Bobbirant. I think all those rules and regulations were made by men who wanted to set themselves apart and also make it hard for others to fit into their elite circles. God (every and any God) just wants us to love Him/Her.
Those social habits reflect values, which is to say principles. They were made formal ethics in order to protect and encourage those values. Those unaware of the underlying beliefs of the values system may find such practices strange, even incomprehensible, but that doesn't make them irrelevant in the culture to which they belong. The god of that culture may not take interest in the practical details of how principles are maintained, but by definition he would take the values themselves seriously, and so he may not complain about how they're reinforced.
God doesn't go by what we look like or wear. God looks at the heart. If our heart is truly set on following, loving, and obeying God than that's all that counts.
The heart of God is shown in this- that he sent Jesus to save us from sin and the law of sin that leads to death. God never sent Jesus to save us to tell us what we can and can not wear or eat. Jesus saves us so we can be free from sin- our bad choices and replaces them with life and restoration. A heart that trusts, pleases/obeys and loves him is all that we need in order to serve God.
Those that dress a certain way, or that do not eat pork to honor God will in no way lose there reward from God.Though our salvation and relationship is not based on external rituals- but by believing in Jesus that God sent to save all of mankind. Remember God looks at the heart.
they are petty ... but they are in your interest and not God's interest. if they are specifically mentioned then it is mentioned for a reason ... everything has a meaning, you just have to look hard enough to find it... some people create things and some things are more about culture than religion ... it does get difficult at times to differenciate between the two.
Whether you see ' a god' as a master, or the God, as a creator...........matters little to this point of conversation.
Either a Creator or a Master would be expected to care.
If you CREATE a recipie.........you would want it to be followed, and to have consistently good results.
If you MASTER a recipie....you will always think that your result is the one at the top end of the scale.
If a "God", of any faith, can not be expected to care..........who else should?
"Religion" , "God", and "Faith" are NOT the same things. There are simply too many choices and variables.
interesting question. Makes it seem like god has a lot of time on his/her hands for such details. Well I guess if you were eternal and all powerful, you would want things a certain way down to every minute detail. I see the different religious garments as a way to help the other people of the same faith connect better.
