Can an illusion be strong enough?
do you think an illusion can be strong enough to have a physical impact on you?
a delusion is certainly strong enough to have a physical and psychological impact on a person - so i think an illusion could if the mind takes it in and believes it to be true. The same as if the body receives a placebo of a drug and has physical effects because it believes it has received the real thing - the mind is a powerful thing and can influence the physical body. I'd say why not?
The Human Mind , Hath been Granted the Ability to "Process" ... Form, unto Being.
Illusion ... Is the derailed Mind's Conjured Form ... and may Exist in the Fleeting, Gossamer States of the Illusion ...
But when, the Unreal, meaning, an Illusion, assumes the Hard State of a Permanence, in human Awareness ... it is a sign of mental disability ...
In Physical terms ... An Illusion, may primarily impact the bearer ... as mild or strong ... viz., Schizophrenia ... at times, it may very strongly effect, the human generality ... In the sense of Mass Hysteria ...
Yes. Definitely. I remember reading a true account of a prisoner of war that showed how the imagination can have strong physical impact and even can activate physical responses. I wish I could find it. My recollection is that this prisoner had been caged. He survived this imprisonment by imagining exercise in great detail, day after day- he visualized himself walking or running or doing push ups and his muscles actually responded in kind. I found this fascinating! The illusion of physical exercise actually kept his body in shape, so that when he was finally released, he was not a complete wreck, in a weakened state.
For most of us who are leading a worldly life of desires and attachments, the main cause is 'illusion'. It hides the Truth and superimposes over it some other thing. For instance a man walking on the road during twilight hours(when there is half light and half darkness)find that some thing is coiled around in the middle of the road. Immediately he thought that it should be a snake. Fearing attack, he backtracks. By the time some other man with a torch light passes by. This man ask the other one to focus the torch light at the snake like thing. When it was focused, it was found to be a coir only which removed the fear of the passerby. Now even during darkness, it was only coir, When the light is focused, it was only a coir. Now due to darkness, the gentleman has thought it to be a 'snake'. At no time there was a snake. All along it was a coir. Hence the illusion makes the man to believe it was a snake!
Of course. Let's say, hypothetically of course, that reality was merely an illusion. Do you think it has had a profound impact on you? If that is not what you meant by your question, forgive me, as I am not entirely sure what you ask.
If you strongly believe then it will happen. Sometimes we think too much and absorb ourselves into illusion.
We tend to tell ourselves things that maybe illusion and yet we might get too deep.
It may not be a bad thing though. If you persist on this thought, it maybe a good thing. It all depend on what you are thinking to make it happen.
