Firstly, I must explain that I am not a "Christian", but I am a "spiritual" person. I have read many of the "Holy Books" and I believe that there is a "higher power" so my answer may not be the type of answer you are looking for.
I read the Book of Mormon with a friend of mine so we could better understand a girl that we were friends with. While I was reading it, I came across an interesting passage that stated that when we die, EVERYONE goes to Heaven. The only thing is that there are different levels of that plane of existence. The level of Heaven you go to depends on your behavior as a Christian being. And if you never accepted the Holy Ghost in your living days, you were given the option of Repentance and the love of GOD. If you denied it, you stayed in the lowest level of Heaven.
I thought that this was a much nicer way to look at things, rather than the comparison of Heaven vs Hell and have thought of this way ever since.
As for your question to a "non-believer", I don't think that's a very fair question to ask. Reason being, a "non-believer" may not know if they would reconsider until they had a reason to.
